I just bought that same compressor and I wanted to spray paint some stuff at work and I couldn’t find any videos showing the capabilities of this unit and then I just stumble on your video and I’m impressed man. Not only did you show me the capabilities of that compressor but you did an amazing job. Thank you for this, much appreciation.
@@UndergroundPaintKing Nahhh, I did more than that 😁 you've got a new subscriber also! I look forward to checking out all your stuff. I've got an old school van I'm redoing and I learned most everything I know from RU-vid
I am learning so much from this channel and the Underground Builds channel. Thank you for explaining/Showing what you are doing in detail. The product reviews are on point as well. I have a question about what you cover the wheels and tires with when youre painting the vehicles. Are those just towels? looks like they work pretty slick. Thanks again for the knowledge nuggets.
I’m glad the channels are helping out 💯 and not many people ask about what I cover my wheels with but they are Fleece Fabric that I got from a local fabric store and have been using them for a very long time 💪🏾 I appreciate you checking out all the videos!
Hi UPK, Enjoyed the video as usual! I have an old Central Pneumatic 21 gallon compressor the exact one next to the the Vevor in your shop. The motor on the CP was tired, obnoxiously LOUD really deafening and I replaced the reed valves twice. So, I replaced the original motor with one similar in style that is used on the Vevor but the 2 HP version. The rebuilt compressor is very quiet(amazing), fills the 21 gallon tank quickly and easily handles the 3-4 CFM R500. In my case, it was a cost effective way to recycle an old compressor with those new quiet compressor motors/head units.
Faf, I had bought that vevor from Amazon but didn’t keep it returned it. Just picked up the C.P. compressor for the job that I’ll tackle soon. Thanks again for the demo 💯 can’t wait to see more videos.🎉
I used my Vevor spray gun last week for the first time, it’s definitely worth the money. And TheTriggerman was right, it hoses the material on! Mannn that thing uses a lot of material but I’m still a fan. Keep up the good work UPK
You did it again brother. That is a good compressor for them small jobs. Im going to get me one of them r500 guns. Let me ask you something, im thinking about getting a husky 27 gallon compressor. Do you think that would do a whole vehicle with the r500?
Hi man admire your humbleness and passion for your work your patients and experience is priceless , im about to paint my own car in south aftrica where im from our single stage paint are mostly sold 2 to 1 i just wana know howmuch reducer do i add for a flat smooth finish as the 2 to 1 paints are thicker than 4 to 1
I appreciate that Andy🙏🏽 and normally whatever brand you have chosen to use will tell you how much reducer you can use and if it doesn’t I would test it out first with a test panel and adding 10% reducer up to 1 full part of reducer depending on the results I was getting to determine what’s the best mix to use. I hope that helps and let me know what you come up with 💯💪🏾
UPK, great job and demonstration, thank you for some awesome videos! Single stage looks great. You make it look easy. I don't know what the compressor costs but it seems to me it would be worth buying two and coupling them which should produce enough cfm for big jobs, also I lower the shut off pressure (some compressors can be adjusted) so it shuts off sooner since painting is low psi it's ok.
Hey Boss. When that guy gets that bumper on his car, he's gonna want you to do the rest of the car. I have the Red & Black UPK/R500 and I'm happy with it. The only problems are Operator Errors😀 Stay safe.
Paint went on very nice. Definitely enough pressure/cfm for a coat on a bumper. Like most cheap compressors it probably won't last forever but it does the job. When you have multiple panels or god forbid a whole car with not enough air do you do a panel at a time and then try to blend them with a very light final coat? I've got an old BMW that has a bit of blue metallic flake in the black paint (cosmosschwarz) and 25 years of door dings, dents and stone chips, i.e. hood to the metal, scratches to primer in pretty much every panel. Dents for the pdr guy to push/pull before I even think about blocking it out. Id like to spray it myself but thinking that if I do I should skip the original paint ($600/gallon) and pick a solid color (cheaper and more likely to be successful). Have you have any luck with getting these kind of paints consistent across the car. I can get a shop to spray it but I'd rather DIY if I can.
I have the SprayIt R100 mini. I like this little mini spray gun. I got it at Home Depot for thirty bucks. Have you ever used it? If so what's your opinion? I never used an lvlp gun before this one. Thanks for another great video. Between you and trigger you both have great content and s great way of teaching. Thanks again. Peace
@@fredericocorrea9814 I appreciate you greatly Frederico and I haven’t sprayed with the mini but I’m gonna try to get my hands on one because I really like the R500!
My idea of what's a "Toy" & what isn't has changed a lot in the last year. The welder I use all day every day looks like a toy compared to what I used use - but it ain't. Chances are this compressor is the same deal - looks like a toy but ain't.
Hi, the little Vevor seems less noisy than the other one that you used on few occasions. This is actually my problem; I have been watching your videos (and some other channels), trying to find a way to "update" my car (Honda Civic 8th Gen - I like the little guy, and think it deserves a better view - those cars have a "factory" paint problem with the Clear). I am thinking of getting a 2nd hand compressor and using it to paint the car. I thought in do it with cans, but there is a problem with compatibility between types, brands, not counting that the price of all cans of Primers, Basecoat, and Clear coat, is far bigger then the one of the 2nd hand compressor e material. My ideal is sand it, fix some damages, apply Epoxi, surfacer, Basecoat, and Clearcoat - crazy right, but I will do it - Thanks for the videos
Excellent job ,you are the best ,I have a question why after clear coat have some dot on the panel that is dirt or lint on the panel because today I painted and get same issue after clear coat ,because you are very professional that's why I need your opinion Thank you very much
no I mean why when you paint and after clear coat we have to polish ?because after you did clear coat is very good shape ,I just asking to get more information ,Thank you@@UndergroundPaintKing
what brand single stage do you recommend. i use it on my harley and i love it. if i get a nic or chip mid riding season i mix a small batch and use an airbrush gun and then cut buff till i want to repaint the entire set again. good work UPK
Great video. With base coat clear spraying a black pearl. What would be the minimum grit sandpaper you would use in prep before painting. 400? 600? Or 800?
Thank you for the video. Always enjoy your content. What did you use for filtration? Any water issue? I noticed you had the filter at the gun but did you have anything else to filter the air? Thank you again for your reviews!
Hey bro like the small compressor but how did you like the vevor lvlp spray gun I've got that very same gun but I haven't got to use it yet was you impressed with it? Your friend Larry
Great vid got same setup, I'm doing whole car but it is apart, fenders, hood, doors, trunk lid, spoiler. Contemplating what's better, base and clear or single stage, painting 05 2 door civic. Aka my baby lol... not oem colors which way should I go. First timer here I'm excited lol
@UndergroundPaintKing thanks for replying one more question please! With this setup what is a cheap but good clear, I'm painting black mix with blue mica powder then I plan on possibly tinting the clear. Thoughts on what clear to use. Thanks so much I'll share pics of car when done. This is all because of you. Keep teaching please!!!
@@itsjusti4262 here is a video of the budget clear that I like to use ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TaZzcLB3Uq0.htmlsi=24wSbZlqeoBIO5f- Hope this helps!
@@UndergroundPaintKing Sir, thank you for that - wow, 3.35 CFM and it drives that R-500 with ease - amazing - thank you for all your videos - really helpful for a DYI'er- from the Philippines *
👀🤛🏾 i dont have an low volume gun in my collection not sure i need one either but i have been wanting one. Question- painting outside would you use that set up or hvlp....im about to tackle a full spray in my yard and no garage. My matco scorpion with 1.4 tip and a 27gal compressor.
A big setup or small setup will work for you but if you’re using a hvlp spray gun that requires more cfm than your compressor can handle you might run into the issue of your pressure dropping while you’re painting so just be mindful of that
@@UndergroundPaintKing I was thinking that..which is why I was also thinking of picking up a low volume gun and budget wise it wont kill the pocket. Paint King I'm probably gonna have to get one 🤣👍🏽
I've been watching your videos a while. I painted my 78 camaro using a610 paint gun and a husky 20gal compressor. Job turned out good had some nibs had to color sand but happy with the paint job. If you want to see the pictures, get ahold of me. thanks for your videos.
Underground King, my man i love your videos! I had a question about PPE.. I see alot of guys using 3M masks with the black cartridges, ive been reading alot about isocyanates in 2k clears... How can i keep myself protected while spraying? I dont spray out of a garage im in a carport sized space. Could you make a video about ventilation and proper PPE? Alot of us out here on the come up could probably use a professional opinion. Thanks 👑🙏
@@UndergroundPaintKing Nice! Thanks for the reply! I'm thinking of using a 20 gallon compressor with a LVLP to paint a whole car section by section to make sure I have enough pressure. From my understanding doing a whole car in sections is the way to go when using a compressor under 60 gallons to give it time to refill right?
@@UndergroundPaintKing oh brilliant, I want to do some more experimenting with tip sizes and pressures so look forward to your options, good man, you're a ⭐
Did you do 5 turns out because its a small compressor? Other video ive seen 2 or 3 turns out, also can you explain to me about the fan setup for small compressor and r500. Thanks much appreciated as im getting alot of orange peel 😞 i need help on the gun set up please
@@anharahmedlife I set it at 5 turns out to limit how much material was coming out of the spray gun and I will link a video on how to set up your spray gun. Your peel issue could be between the temp you’re spraying at as well as the reducer/catalyst temp
Im confused...some sites said this exact gun consumes 3.5 to 3.9 cfm...an others said 7-13cfm...which is the correct one??...i currently own a 175 litre,30 gallon compressor with 2hp so im considering a lvlp gun like this
I need help ,I have a hole on my vans roof ,im going to weld a piece of metal when I cut the rust piece of ,what bondo or putty or what to use for it and for small holes here and there, thank you thank you 😅
After welding in your patch I would use a fiberglass filler first then you could level that out with regular body filler if needed then glazing putty for small imperfections if needed
@@UndergroundPaintKing thank you, I've learned alot from you and your videos, thank you for helping people out ,god bless you ,I really appreciate all you do
When you paint the panels or whole car is it better to spray a light tack coat then two heavy medium coats like you do always learn from your videos your real not a bunch of bull keep the videos coming Paint king brother...
I don’t always start off with a tack coat but it is good to start with a tack coat and won’t hurt anything if you do a tack coat first, hope that helps 💯
@@UndergroundPaintKing i have aftermarket gt500 bumper i wanna paint, i have the same 21 gallon compressor and the rs500 gun i was gonna single stage but others said base coat clear coat would be better, your thoughts would be appreciated king💯
Ordered the same compressor 4 weeks ago. It trips out immediately if there is any pressure in the tank. Plugged directly into a wall plug with 20 amp service. it will not recharge, trips out. Vevor customer Service has been dancing about it for weeks but have done nothing. First said I couldn't use an extension cord, then claimed the voltage in my home to too low. Funny over 20 other power tools work perfectly. 3 videos to them and still no resolution. I'm learning to hate these guys. I will protest the credit card charge.
Great video crazy to think for less than $300 you can have a setup to paint panels. What was the hose you used would any brand work and any specific length?
I enjoy watching your videos. Can you do 1 on how to put together your own paint booth in your garage so that you don't get paint everywhere and I also don't want to get paint on the neighbors cars outside of my house. Or their houses.😊
It cost too much to go to mako to paint a car now. They want almost $3,000 cash for a single coating paint job. Folks on RU-vid now want to know how to build their own paint booth in their small garages. With limited working space. And we don't want to blow up the neighborhood.
