3:39 "I feel like this movie would have been easier is Snow White Herself was CG" I agree! Actually, while we are at it why not just make everything 2D animated!
I do not understand Disney's current obsession with live action remakes of classic animated films. Why live action? Why not go the Pixar route and do a cgi animated remake if they just have to do a reboot? You lose a lot of the charm and go into this creepy uncanny-valley when switching from stylized animation to live action. They are setting themselves up for failure because even if the cgi is perfect the cartoony designs and photo realistic ones clash.
for the Snow White portion, did you guys notice the sun coming through 3 sides of the cabin? It's like there's 3 different suns, each shining through one side of the cabin. Weird, weird
@@stevemuzak8526 Yah, I don't get why they went that route. If you must revisit an old IP, just redo it. Don't try to turn a classic fairy tale into a highly divisive wokefest. And don't let your star say stupid crap in interviews. Give them contractually-mandated talking points and stay off culture war crud.
I know the trailer (and probably the movie) is dumb but this take is ridiculous. Every cinematographers use that technique for artistic and aesthetic reasons. Not every shots should be lit realistically.
Can you react to "His Dark Materials" how in season 2 rifts to other worlds are displayed? Can you compare it to the (weak and unpolished) movie with a great cast but a terrible implementation
“I feel like this movie would have been easier if Snow White herself was full cg” yeah it’s crazy almost like the movie should be animated or something lol
Please do react to "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.". Lots of robots, spaceships, time travel, gravitonium, Inhumans and of course more importantly Ghost Rider, Lola etc. It's got quite some stuff to get its own episode.
I hate what they did to Ghost Rider, it's good, don't get me wrong, but if you compare it to the movies, it looks horrible. It's good CGI, it took a lot of effort, it just doesn't look good.
The uncanny valley was deeeep. But I wonder if it will be like Battle Angel Alita. Where my mind just shifted after 5 minutes and it was fine. Since it was a robot, not a human.
@@willow-pm1zr I disagree. I think part of it is the smoke/mist and other particle effects that don't look right (and don't interact with the camera). There's that blurry shadow thing going on too that makes the lighting seem off too. The outlandish part doesn't help either of course as the physics don't seem right either, and even if they were it's so outlandish that nobody has a good reference frame to compare to
@@niceguy191 wtf do you even mean? Which shot in the entirety of cinema history has interacted with the camera? The entire point is to pretend that there's not a camera there
Right? It's even weirder because normally when that happens it's because a sequence got split up amongst different companies. A really solid example of that is Black Panther. But in this case I'm fairly certain it was just the one company handling that whole sequence. Maybe they broke it up amongst different teams but still, that's what VFX supervisors are for. I'm sure the supe saw it and was like, "This is WAY too cool not to have!" While completely ignoring that it looks like something from a totally different movie. 😅
@@JohnMarston-lo5qk I can think of many comedy and action films where blood or dirt hit the screen as a visual gag, so acting like no film has ever done it is ridiculous, and most good action and monster films, such as the first Pacific Rim, use the camera placement to enhance the effects of the action or to make the monster seem more intimidating, most good filmmakers are very aware of where there camera is in a given scene. The point is not, in fact, to 'pretend theres not a camera there.'
I definitely agree. However I think he wants people to cast dwarves not just because they are dwarves. He might the only one to have that fortune. Like when he was cast in that Xmen movie. People immediately thought he was going to be playing Puck ... but he played someone else entirely where it was not relevant for him to be of shorter stature. I think that might be his position ... however he got his break playing a dwarf and he got the opportunity to shine and show his talents because of that. Others still need that break. Otherwise those actors will be over looked ... both literally and figuratively.
You guys should have an end of year visual effect award show - from all of the reacted videos specifically to that year. Awards can be like “the most jankiest cgi of 2024”, “the most visually stunning cgi of 2024”, etc. That’s something I’d watch! 😊
Hey Corridor Crew, you were very focused on the dwarves and the beautiful rendering but did you not see the sunbeams coming in from every angle through the windows? Like how many suns light this particular fantasy world? You talk about directional lighting all the time and this is an outrageous error for a $400 million production.
@@TheJohn8765 Just seems like you're being petty at this point. You can hate on the movie for whatever unrelated reasons you want, but "too many sun beams" from a deliberate lighting choice of a CG environment is ridiculous.
It's bizarre. He seems to be pretty much the only person with dwarfism who thinks it's offensive for short people to play short characters. Warwick Davis literally runs an agency for dwarf actors.
@@andybrice2711 That's only partially true. He thinks it's offensive for short people to play 'short characters', not 'characters that happen to be short'. He hates it even more when people don't understand the difference. I am not particularly bothered by that. Everyone has their hill, and I have seen worse hills than that.
@@andybrice2711 It feels like gatekeeping to me. He "made it" thanks to being in Game of Thrones and has had steady work since, maybe he was afraid if someone or others get recognition for their acting abilities it would potentially take away roles for him. Or maybe he's just upset after being replaced in Destiny or "That Wizard came from the moon."
@@worsel555 Dinklage spent years turning down roles that he felt were demeaning. Other people took those roles, presumably sometimes not believing them to be demeaning but at least some have been quoted as saying they hated selling out but they 'needed' the work. Dinklage's stance on this subject long pre-dates his big success. That doesn't necessarily mean he's right and indeed I hope he would agree that he does not speak for all dwarfs, but you are being very unfair to him, and misleading to your readers, when you suggest his motivation is selfish.
I don't like the changes in style on Mufasa. Yes, previous movie looks like a natgeo documentary, but it has a consistent style. Now it clears look like they are forcing something that doesn't belong in there. Some expressions look like they were made with photoshop liquify on top of a real lion photo.
Honestly the original "live action" Lion King was a miss because plenty of animals have very expressive faces. My cat shouldn't be a better actor than Mufasa.
12:00 "Dang! What would you do?" 11:55 Either accept your fate and enjoy your last moment with your loved one, or 13:57 Risk it all, and take a chance on fate. On a side note, as Halloween is around the corner, can you look at the movie "Annihilation" from 2018? Mutated Bear and the Lighthouse scene in particular...
The issues with Snow White started when the main actress described the original as a backwards sexiest movie and proclaimed that they had to update it for today's audience by taking out the princes pivotal moment. She presented it as another "boss bitch" movie. The "magical creatures" were just oil on the already burning trash fire.
I'm surprised they didn't talk about how the light enters through the windows makes it seem like there are multiple suns (all the windows have God Rays). Also, at 5:17 Sam was possessed by a demon.
There were plenty before. Deluge 1933 and When Worlds Collide 1951 were a couple, off the top of my head. Both had massive tidal waves destroying New York.
Probably more controversial is that she is the evil queen and Rachel Zegler is the fairest of them all. Movie should just be "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" Mirror: "You are." Roll credits.
Peter Dinklage is really hung up on fantasy dwarves and his hatred for them. When I’m reading about Gotrek Gurnisson, I’m not imagining a human man with skeletal dysplasia. Get over yourself bro.
I love Peter Dinklage but I think he's a little too salty on the subject. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs isn't a movie about a woman and seven other human beings with dwarfism, it's a movie about a woman with seven Fictional beings called dwarves who happen to be short. Sorry Peter, gotta call you out on this one.
@@joechapman8208 ^^^^ Always that one person who thinks they're being the "champion" defending someone they are not like, but think they can speak for everyone.
@@joechapman8208 Except it doesnt affect Dinklage in the slightest, he just complained on social media and literally ruined a chance of any other dwarf actor to ever get this role. We respect the opinions of those dwarf actors who were actually affected by this nonsense, the ones who were angry with Dinklage's comment, the ones who actually NEED work to pay their bills, and were more than happy to star in Snow White as a dwarf. Because unlike Dinklage other dwarf actors aren't precious little snowflakes who blow every mention of a word "dwarf" out of propotion, and dont find fictional dwarves in a fairytale offensive.
@@joechapman8208 I appreciate rickitynick4463 defending people like my brother, who played Dopey in runs of Snow White throughout the pacific region. Dinklage is wrong on this, those roles are a big pay check and a big chance to break into other movies.
Disney made bad decisions along the way. They should've hired actors like Peter Dinklage, they should've either made everything CG, should've hired an actress who just talks crazy and mean to stunt actors are more importantly not make a movie which can cause all these issues. Just dump the project, call it as a learning opportunity and focus on things like Moon night. By the way disagree with corridor crew, the dwarfs don't look that good. The animals and flora fauna are on point but the Dwarfs look like claymations
I watched the whole video in 1 minute and appreciated every little nuance which is why I am qualified to comment on the video so quickly. This is all true.
Snow White became a total online sh*tstorm. It also is 7 Little People actors out of a potential job, because Peter Dinklage, who has zero ties to this movie, can't differentiate between fantasy Dwarves and real human Little People, and took offense at an animated 50+ year old fairytale...
The snow white trailer was sentenced to be dislike-bombed the moment they cast rachel zegler as snow white. Not only does she not fit the character looks wise, her public personality is just awful.
The Snow White trailer is disliked for the same reason all the other Disney CG remakes are disliked. These are our cherished shildhood memories being redone BADLY. You are just messing with the characters. You're messing with our childhoods. One part that doesn't work for me in Deep Impact was where the bridge gets lifted up by the water and then mysteriously gets thrusted DOWN suddenly with no aparent reason for that motion.
It's Rachel Zegler (Snowhite actress) that's getting the Snow White movie so much negative attention, not Gal Gadot. This started much before the I/P situation. She (Zegler) had an interview where she started saying how the original Snow White movie is "problematic" and bad and how much they changed the movie and how she doesn't need the prince and he's just creepy and she can do it all herself because it's the modern age etc etc. So obviously people didn't really love hearing that... And then the unbelievably dumb choices with the dwarves not being dwarves came out, and the rest just snowballed from there...
It's about her character being pure, but sure. Let's turn this German fairytale Disney adapted in the 1930s with an AMERICAN voice actor into a race war zone. Sure.
I get the feeling that Disney doesn't really think when it tries to be correct. Sometimes being correct doesn't mean doing everything right. In the eyes of others.
The dislike ratio on Snow White isn't necessarily because of Gal Gadot, but rather because of THAT one interview with Rachel Zegler where she was actively hating and mocking the original cartoon, while being extremely unlikable, like seriously, it was awful.
I think Peter Dinkelberry feels threatened, that if they hire little people, he won't be the main little person in Hollywood anymore. he doesn't want to share the spotlight. if you ask any other little person actor, besides Peter they would be ecstatic at a chance to play the role. so why is Peter the only little person that finds it offensive. and if he finds hiring little people for the role offensive, why did he take the role?
For Snow White, it's ironic how the producers wanted to make up their own story and changed the dwarves into something else and also talked about inclusivity and whatever. Then they get backlashed for it, even Peter Dinklage the actor who portrays Tyrion in Game of Thrones called out Disney. After that backlash they replaced whatever they were originally go to do with CG dwarves instead of casting real dwarf actors. I dont know how much more hypocrisy you can get with it. And with all these controversies surrounding the film, it's going to be review bombed on release
He was sick of being typecast as a dwarf-like character. Either that or he knows this Snow White movie is gonna be a huge financial flop and he wants no part of it.
Funny how you avoided talking about the unlikability of Rachel Zegler, having any effect on the dislikes of Snow White's new trailer. She's arguably the main driving force behind the backlash.
@@KingCeryn That's what the scandal is. The million+ downvotes on the trailer and the insurmountable negative sentiment that will make this a total write-off for Disney is almost entirely down to that. People don't like how Rachel handled herself, when talking about the OG movie in interviews. The "star" is hated.
Let's be real, guys... The hate for the Snow White movie is 1% for the use of CGI dwarves, and 99% for not using a white actress to play Snow White. When a TRAILER gets as many dislikes as this one, it's the INCELS and bigots who are behind the Hate Rate (
I'm sorry, but "The Adventures of Tin Tin" did not feel like this iteration of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". I'd put this new movie in line with the weirdness of 2019's "Cats".
The problem is, Disney was trying to be so completely woke about some kind of misrepresentation of dwarves, that when it came time to putting actual dwarves in the movie, or little people, they were like let's skip it all entirely and not do dwarfs or little people. And let's not have Snow White be rescued by a prince, instead we will make her girl power who doesn't need a man. Rachel Ziegler sucks and whoever wrote this sucks. It's going to do terribly.
.... why didn't they just do the dwarves the way they do them in Rings of Power? You know, because they're dwarves? They're not little people or people with dwarfism, they're a fantasy race of short, burly, super strong, bearded people, who love mining and holding grudges, based originally on norse myths.
PLEASE compare it to the original. sure you can say the snow white cg is good, like the model and layout. but the color and lighting is painful. like they're so bland, almost like its AI generated, there's no contrast except snow white costumes. honestly same problem in lion king and previously, little mermaid. by making it "live action" they try making it as realistic, in expense of artistic value. at least compare it to earlier disney live action like beauty and the beast, you'll notice some problem with the newer live actions
Apparently there are 3 suns in the sky outside the cottage. Also, why is the cottage built for human size inhabitants WTF happened to the original occupants
Disney put themselves in that position, seems like it was a great opportunity for dwarf actors to play in a big movie, they were never presented in a bad light and there is nothing wrong with that, if Dinklage doesn't want to doesn't mean others would pass up on the opportunity that I assume is hard enough to find for dwarf actors. And then just hire a white person for a white character from European folklore who is literally named after her white skin color and don't make her an annoying brat who treats the dwarves like servants because she is too good to do some manual labor.
You guys should do a Hall of Fame tour where you go back through clips from the old episodes and retroactively add any to the Hall of Fame that you deem necessary. It would be a good way to rectify any misses and also a good look back at how far the show has come.
12:07 The guy reading the paper just suddenly flying away with the water is still one of the funniest shots in Deep Impact. Just takes you right out of the film.
