Yeah, this is probably my favorite guest they've had! I always love hearing Adam talk about effects and how to solve problems, so it's cool to see him break down the practical effects!

This is why I love this channel. Even in the comments you find interesting people. You guys did an amazing job on VFX in Revolutions, regardless of story or general opinion of the sequels.

@@shulmanator I will second Zepp's comments. Would be more interested to here more, I have always been a fan of behind the scenes videos more so than some of the movies they are on. I think the Matrix sequels suffered from too much story too little time, but the V/SFX and Stunt teams made the films amazing in my book. To the point I remember little of the story, but remember more of the individual shots. Anyway I have a Matrix marathon to start before I head to the cinema later this week lol

Wren has always exuded an Adam Savage-like enthusiasm for VFX so it's no surprise that they totally matched energies when they finally got on camera together!

It must be so wild to be a famous person that is starstruck by another famous person. Like I'm sure there are instances where two famous people meet that are such huge fans of one another that they're both just mutually fangirling out when they finally get together. As much fun as Wren was having, I think Adam was easily having just as much fun. Like he said, this is his whole life, he could talk about this stuff all day!

And Sam barely gets any Savage Face time. It just seems that they are at odds, given their body language. But yeah, Wren is at Disney land for the first time in his life just chatting to another human.

Because people talk about themselves from a place of entitlement. Exude gratitude with everything you do and say and folks will give you a lot of room to big-up yourself. Gratitude is the opposite of entitlement. Adam Savage nailed it a long time ago.

I think he’s just a very special type of person who can manage to maintain his level of enthusiasm for his job for decades. Dude seems to have never felt anything but love for what he’s doing.

I think it's because he talks about his work rather than himself. The focus is on what was done rather than on him having done it. He just has such a passion for the industry and it really shows. He's also always excited to highlight the work of others with a wonderful sense of admiration and appreciation.

He reminds me of Wren a lot.

It really is what sets him apart as a truly great presenter. He's truly invested in what he's presenting. Absolutely love the guy!

The amount of weight and depth they add to the original trilogy is really good too when you pay attention. Sure the dialogue is clumsy in some spots but they still have a special charm.

I work in film and shoot on film sometime and yes, it is an insane amount of work, but it is soooo much better than digital

My theory about why the dinosaurs in the original JP movie looked so good, because Phil Tippet gave the animators great advice on how to make the Dino’s move. For years after that movie cgi creatures often looked fake because the movement wasn’t right.

Contemporaneous reports on the Jurassic Park production (Cinefex?!?) mentioned that the production team joked that Tippett was part dinosaur or had lived back then because he could move like a dinosaur. He knows motion, weight, distribution, timing, etc. Which was why they added him to the production as a consultant despite the move to CGI. I mean, Geesh, Tippett's text T-Rex is phenomenal!

I'm guessing Niko was supposed to be on the couch and Sam hadn't prepared for it.

I think its more a state between being completely uninterested to slightly feigning interest for the camera.

This is my first time seeing Sam and I can relate to his introverted personality. You might assume he's being too quiet or even worse, that he's a know-it-all but that's totally not the case because he just seems to be processing a lot and just wants to say the right things!

@@zach3360 Yeah. That's how I am as well in conversation. I think a lot, sometimes way too much than I should, about what I should say or how to respond to a statement.

I worked at this place where we'd wait around in big groups then break off into smaller groups where I felt more comfortable talking. 6 months in one of the guys sat next to me and said he thought I was a mute until we worked in the small group together because I never spoke. Sometimes it's too much info coming in. It could also be the fact that both Wren and Adam have these big, manic personalities and it can be uncomfortable jumping into that conversation or you feel that you can't match that level so you wait till there's an opening to say your own piece. I get it.

Well, as others say that if Sam is thinking a lot than contributing anything to the conversation, maybe he can do that better off camera instead of making the viewers lose interest too.

I think this is a miscalculation. I personally thought it was too much stimulation for him, as those are two very energetic individuals. If you watch, he does not seem to have the most care for people like Wren. I don't particularly know if either Sam or Adam cared for one another, as Adam doesn't really answer questions the same as he did for Wren, nor with the same intensity or enthusiasm.

Honestly, Sam did his job perfectly: - Fill Niko's spot on the couch, at very short notice - Don't interfere with the magic happening between Adam and Wren.

Sometimes you learn more by just listening.

He was hella third wheeling it 😂 which sucks cuz Sam usually is the one cracking me up in these epsiodes and especially the podcast

@@brandondriver99 I don't have a set list, would have to think about it, but there are some people that were so influencial in my life (Like Adam Savage) that for sure make the list. As a child, Mythbusters was my favourite show, i have seen every episode more than once. Now as an Adult, the Tested channel is a mirror of what i wish i could do/be. He is a hero of mine no doubt, tought me so much.

Ive had the same experience all through childhood and as an adult now I still watch his RU-vid and builds and just the pure unfiltered passion he has for creating is absolutely contagious. It's why I think the Prequels work better than the Sequels. They had some real passion to them, whereas the Sequels feel a bit corporate from The Mouse.

It took many years for people to realize, but George wasn't the problem. It was all the sycophants he had surrounding him who weren't challenging him, or telling him the harsh truths he needed to hear. In his gut he already knew he had pushed the silly goofy slap stick stuff too far, but all the yes men surrounding him just kept telling him how amazing it would be.

@@FablestoneSeries Basically it boils down to people being flabbergasted that the people Lucas hired to help him make the prequels were largely in sync with him creatively (you know, as you might expect) and didn't constantly trash talk him while being filmed for behind-the-scenes footage. There's no real evidence that Lucas was surrounded by "yes men" to a greater extent than is usually the case. There's this whole mythology about how Lucas was constantly being challenged and put in his place by others during the making of the original trilogy, but if you do a little actual research you find very little evidence of that either, besides some claims made by disgruntled ex-producer Gary Kurtz who was fired halfway through Empire for incompetence and spent the next several decades constructing a self-aggrandizing narrative which recast himself as the hero of Star Wars.

I don't remember his name, he was one of the producers, and he is a real smooth talking, slime ball salesman. watching him in every clip, you immediately get the sense he was little more than a no talent cheerleader. George was suggesting they cut all the slap stick from the movies but this idiot was like cheering him on the whole time. You don't see this side of Hollywood much. There is the famous talk Kevin Smith did about the notorious producer who ruined his Superman movie with his ridiculous requests to have Superman never wear the suit, never fly, and to fight a giant spider. Every block buster movie flop in the last 30 years you can tie to producers interfering with the creative process for one reason or another. I work in film and have been fortunate enough not to work on any flops, but i have worked on enough movies that I seen morale suffer greatly due to the ridiculous decisions being forced on them by pencil pushing executives.

Adam had a great time. He definitely wants to go back, and there should be a second episode from this day of filming!

Yip. There's some weird energy here. Adam is angled towards Wren and only talking to Wren, it's quite awkward. It should have just been Wren and Adam if Nico had to pull out, and they could have just explained that at the top, it wouldn't have been a big deal.

the prequels weren't such bad movies, they just had some hugeassed impossibly large boots to fill. overall they were pretty good movies, and apart from a few bad points, they were better than a lot of the movies that came out in their respective years.

I've loved all the Star Wars movies. The animated shows? Not in the slightest. Only one real complaint about the prequels: giving the battle droids emotions. Oh, and Obi-wan's almost bowl cut in Episode III

If you like that kind of visual storytelling you'll love the production of Mad Max: Fury Road. They didn't write a script; instead, they made thousands of storyboards in which they could showcase all the different designs and visual worldbuilding that the artists had in mind; so the movie is cluttered to the brink with detail, but everything is cohesive and doesn't distract from the story, it just adds to it. It's amazing.
