No Whedon rewrote almost 90 pages of script and reshot and rearranged the scenes that's why he was credited as a screenwriter in the 2017 movie yes there was studio interference but Whedon even gave a interview that he wants to put his style to the movie even reusing scenes from avengers so it can be called Whedon cut

As one of the artist in this movie industry, I gotta say there's not only Weta Studio worked on this movie, without doubt Weta is one of the best studio, but there are other studios with many artists, countless hours worked on it.

If Weadon was called in to finish the movie, then why did he shoot new scenes, he could have kept Supes untouched, he could have used the original Steppenwolf design....but NO...he had to F up the freaking movie.....so yeah Weadon cut it is.

The 2017 one is the Whedon Cut. He changed the story and re-shot more then a hour of footage. That makes it the Whedon Cut.

Being a VFX artist I thank you Jaby and Achara for reacting to this and appreciating the work we artists put in. No matter if it is just a puddle or a bullet. It takes a lot of work and lot of hours. And bit of appreciation is always inspiring and keep us motivated

The original steppenwolf is the one from the Snyder Cut. While whedon isn’t the only one to blame, he is still to blame for a lot of the 2017 version. Along with the toxic environment he made.

Whedon despised zacks work n didn't want to use his footage and called it nonsense.. His ego didn't let him to use Zack vision.. Instead he want to show off tat he's some kinda messiah who can magically make any movie blockbuster.. N this is the result.. So yeah this is Whedon cut..

they tried to get under 2 hours but cut so much they had to reshoot stupid scenes...no...they didnt just had to cut it to a certain length...they were afraid to show such a dark approach and didnt trust the audience. which is a huge mistake

In RE: to “Whedon Cut”, there is specific footage that Joss filmed for the 2017 version that does not exist within the Snyder Cut. It wasn’t just editing magic that went into 2017. Remember, everything Superman said was reshot. The first scene with Batman in the roof is a Whedon Original shot. #FlashMotorBoat scene is Joss. Everything Steppenwolf is a Whedon thing in 2017. Not to mention the Russian family with the bug spray. Basically, you have a piece of long string. You cut 3/4 off. The remaining 1/4 gets scrambled and you stitch it with Whedon doo-doo to get you close to three times as much as with the 1/4 you started with. You also have to note, Zack Snyder’s original intended runtime was not as long as 4 hours. It was considerably less. So already, part of what we saw in ZSJL was truncated in what could be referred to as the original Snyder Cut (the pre-viz version Zack presented to friends). Essentially, what we got to see is a an extended version of the Snyder Cut which we call Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Maybe some day we'll get to see the extra footage that didn't make it to the 2021 film. Reportedly, 5 hours worth of raw footage was filmed when principal photography was completed in 2017. The End.

7:43 It means Steppenwolf's silhouette can still be clearly seen. You can look at his body and actually see it because it's not braided with sharp stuff and other things in contrast with Transformer robots where you have to freeze frame and dissect them so that you can have an indication of what they actually look like. In simpler terms, Transformer robots are hard to look at while Steppenwolf isn't.

There were a lot of choices that were his own.

Nahh bruh snyder cut, snyder didn't have control. He was not allowed to shot new scene, he was not allowed to put darkseid, he was not allowed to put the green lantern scene (but he changed it with martian manhunter) so yeah. Whedon had more control than snyder

Jaby, whedon Reshoots a lot of it and it was AFTER removing 2 hrs from the rest of 4hrs zack original shoots. If I were whedon i probably just shorten the 4 hrs into 2 hrs or at least the safest cut is 3hrs.

No you are wrong. Joss deliberately changed JL. He vandalized JL completely forcing cast to do things they weren't comfortable.

Don't think you'll be defending him after that Making a film 2 hours as studio mandate doesn't justify the Steppenwolf design change or any of the other creative decisions taken, not to mention rewriting the 90% of the script. The Whedon cut was very much the Whedon cut. To make the film 2 hours or less he reshot so much and had so much things changed, yes he was in the editing room. So much useless shit he did.

So what Jaby is trying to say since Joss wanted to get everything under 2 hrs he cut certain extended shoots for example of the Amazonians so why did he do so may reshoots bring in Supes for extended shoots and did so many changes in scripts like Barry falling on Diana you telling me all of this was done by him and yet no it is not a Whedon Cut... there is quite the difference when a movie is supposed to be under 2 hours or 4 hours. Comparing how long a scene in the Snyder cut is, or how much more development is given to a character is not equal.

Let's not try to defend Whedon. If you follow the story closely his behaviour on the set and how he treated the scenes done by Snyder you will realise why we call it the Whedon cut. TBH he may have done Avengers and we all liked it but we cannot forgive him for sabotaging this - maybe on purpose - maybe because he didn't care enough. And we can definitely never forgive him for being a sexist and how he threatened Gal.

There's even more interesting CGI moments that people probably didn't know about. From what I've read it seems that Superman's entire body was CGI during the fight with Steppenwolf. It seems that changing the color on his suit was more difficult to do compared to creating an entirely new CGI body.

Whedon did reshoots which were half of the original movie. If he just used old Snyder's footage in 2 hours then it would have been decent too but he did horrible reshoots with sexist shots and jokes like flash falling on diana's breasts or various ass shots and lines. So you can't defend him 🤷🏻‍♂️

Whedon had to keep the movie under 2 hour because of WB , Snyder had Full control over this. If this was 2 hour it would be exactly same movie with different colour and CG. Ans moreover Snyder cut is good but it's hype is only because the Whedon one was so Bad.
