Back in those days, unlike today, talent was an absolute necessity. These young men had it. Natural born talent.

The most played song of the 20th century, the term Blue Eyed Soul was coined for the Righteous Brothers.
@mikeh8416
@mikeh8416 5 дней назад
They were the ULTIMATE cross-over group. Bringing "Soul" to White audiences back at a time when Black performers were shunned by the entertainment establishment. The did a LOT to legitimize the genre and it gave a LOT of Black artists and their music the legitimacy they needed to join the main stream entertainment industry.

That's my music, too - I grew up in those times & the music was awesome, even then fast-changing. But the voices had to be there, the talent - to share the joy & sorrow in song to all. These guys were choral in their power, & a joy to listen to. Thank you for sharing; I enjoyed the show today. You made me laugh a bit, too. :D

My first concert nearly 60 years ago.💕 You mentioned the Rat Pack. Well b4 being famous the Righteous Brothers worked the 2am shows in Vegas. Sinatra saw them and took them under his wing. He referred to them as the kids. Frank would take his entourage to their 2am shows. Bill Medley, the tall one, credits Sinatra for teaching them how to be entertainers not just singers.

Try Al Greene singing How do you mend a broken heart or Bobby singing “I Believe “ or Ella Fitzgerald singing “Misty” or kd Lang singing “Crying “ or Aretha singing You make me feel like a regular woman” Or Respect. Have you heard Rebecca Flack sing The first time ever I saw your face? Sooo good. Anything by Sarah Vaughn or Gladys Knight and the pips. Good luck

That's one of my favorite Righteous Brothers song! I haven't heard it since late 1960s. I still like Elvis version of this song better though. It took the RBrothers 4 months to get this song right but when Elvis recorded it he did it in 2 takes. Amazing! Not to take anything away from the Righteous Brothers.

I now have their record collection. My own children have been raised with all of that as well as the 80's thrown in.

Blue-eyed Soul at its finest.💙 "Soul & Inspiration" and "Rock & Roll Heaven" should be on your list. As for THIS song, did you know that Elvis loved it & often sang it live? Yep, you've gotta check that out. Bill Medley (the tall Righteous Brother) got to be good friends with Elvis in the 70's. They would often play Vegas at the same time & that's how they met up. Bill talks about it in a video called "Elvis Who? A Short Documentary About The King of Rock & Roll". I'd love to see you react to that doc. It's about 30 minutes & SO worth watching. Lots of celebs talk about meeting & getting to know Elvis, some very entertaining stories (everyone from James Brown to Alice Cooper to Robert Plant). Bill's story is really funny & also very touching. 💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙

I always loved The Righteous Brothers and this song. But after I saw Elvis sing it, his was the one I loved better! That happened to alot of songs I loved, but when I heard Elvis sing them, his is the only version I wanted to listen to! It took the Righteous Brothers 4 mos. to record it. Elvis did it in one night in 4 takes! Alot of people don't know that. Tell me Elvis wasn't a genious in music, he arranged and produced the way he did his songs. The feeling he put into songs made the difference. Guys ( musicians) that worked with Elvis said he had to like a song before he'd record it!
