On November 4, 2014, the state of Alaska was faced with an Alaska measure to potentially make recreational marijuana legal. In this episode of Weediquette, we follow democracy in action through the eyes of Charlo Greene.
Greene became the firebrand folk hero of the "Yes on 2" movement after she famously quit her job as a news reporter on the air to run a cannabis club. VICE travels to Alaska to follow Charlo, and along the way, we meet a cast of Alaskan natives who all have something at stake in this election.

If you take oxy for pain and go out, thats not public intoxication. Same for marijuana. I mean it for people who use recreationally which usually equals getting stupid high, even though personally I feel fine in public, its other idiots I'm worried about. If you medically use marijuana then the only concern would be heavy machinery, like other prescriptions say

+X Legacy X yes they would. a lot do. you have put no evidence into that statement. lots of ppl on youtube, whether they're more well known or not, talk about how they use it medicinally and the best ones for certain things. they use it for pain, eating disorders, seizers of all kinds, mental illnesses, nausea, Tourettes, and so much more. weed isnt just for pain or getting high as fuck, and even if it was who cares.

Bottom-line: IF your country is willing to send you off to die @ 18 years old, you get to do whatever drugs you fucking want. IF they think you are aware and responsible enough to grab a rifle and take part in vastly complex geopolitical situations and warfare, then you can have a fucking beer and smoking a fucking joint, or go buy some adderal if you fucking want. It's not YOUR business, it's not MY business (unless you are a soldier in combat or paramedic or on the job in some way, but outside of that? NOT. YOUR. BUSINESS) Hell, you can join the military and go serve for 4 years and still not be able to rent a fucking car. It's all in how someone is taught, and taught to think. If someone is raised to think a certain way about a subject, that's how they will think about it without ever doing any research on their own. Many times, especially involving religion, patrons will argue with what their preacher or teacher has taught them, and not their own findings. With the latter, it is usually the exact opposite. It is the same thing involving stuff like this, when other legal substances are legal, vs. an very good substance that is illegal..people will argue what they have only been told, and not any factual evidence.

It's illegal because what weed can do for you, there's 10 different drugs that would provide you that. Pharmacies would go bankrupt just like that. Gigantic loss of money for them and you also have those braindead idiots that think its a gateway drug. You'd be surprised, but a ton of people shares that state of mind, yet it's perfectly fine drinking a ton of booze and sitting behind a steering wheel, not like people have died. Parents leave alcohol bottles in their house but kids still manage to acess them, which cant always be helped unless the parent disciplines their kid, making them not do it again, so why cant it be the same for weed? Too late to reply but anyway, I saw products like sweets, cakes, chocolates, lolipops etc all with thc. And that look like it can be problem. Because most of the small kids are attracted by sweets.. but not so much by bottles with alcohol.. just my opinion

My family supported me 110% when I decided to quit drinking alcohol and switch to Marijuana. We never want to experience that 3 day stay in the hospital for alcohol poisoning where I almost died, not to mention the many times I blacked out or threw up in someones bushes. Many people abuse Marijuana or are addicted to the feeling it gives, but at least that's a safer alternative. The benefits I get from having an appetite to enjoying music and a workout more, to even falling asleep much easier really make me wonder why anyone would even want something created by some Greedy Corporation putting "fillers" into products that are less safe than a damn plant. I don't enjoy being really high I take 1 hit and I'm good but then again I'm addicted to physical activity and eating right so tolerance stays low. Just like alcohol for me I enjoy that buzz don't need to be over .08 anymore, don't need to be so stoned I can see the future.

Can't Beat The BAY! I've been to the States (Cali) a couple times. Proper weed man, great stuff. You guys are real into kush. As a person who is born and raised in the netherlands, I always find it pretty weird that alchol is almost legal everywhere and weed isn't. Its actually proven that when weed is legal and can be bought from the coffeeshops, there is less crime on the streets with drugdealers around.

It's time we legalize marijuana in the US, but PLEEEEEZ we also need MENTAL HEALTH classes taught to adolescents ages 11 to 16. Kids deserve to understand why it is they feel a certain way and what they can do to help change it. I lived with Bi-Polar, ADD, and PTSD my entire childhood. No wonder I self medicated and didn't get real help until I was 35. No wonder our United States Mental Health clinics are full of people over medicated walking around like zombies. Our government, health care system, and schools are NOT out to help the individual understand their brain physiology at all. Legalizing drugs will totally backfire if there is not a strong emphasis on MH education as well. What will happen is that instead of a rational educated public, we will have an absurd war of two camps that stereotype each other and meanwhile the medicinal qualities of marijuana will take a back seat to bullshit social stigmas. Take care of this and just maybe we'll get the HEMP industry going as well. Holy shit, the hippies are pushing 80, so who are we all kidding. NOW IS THE TIME!!!

I love how during the radio interview she did 3:40 in started off with the guy being rude to her but as soon as she gave him that same energy, he didn't like it. It's called respect me or get what you and your funky attitude are asking for. I love how she held her ground.

Let me get this straight. Most people who comment on a Vice documentary are atheist. How do I know this? Just look at any Vice Islam documentary and see the comments, and see how many thumbs up one of those comments have. In fact if I didn't know any better I would say that it is almost exclusively atheists who comment on those video simply because of the hate for religion that is in the comment section. Now looking in the comments on this video I can see a lot of racism. Mind you this is a video about weed which is something that rarely gets hate. So I have came to the conclusion that majority of atheist are white racists.

I've noticed how much the younger generations aren't interested much in religion and more of psychedelic trips and casual weed consumption, the older generations can deny it but soon they will depart from this world and we will be in control. Food for thought. all-tho Chief Keef and Chicago Rap scene arnt promoting peace to the younger generation either, but they will be gone just as quick as they became, also if i might add a personal thought on weed is that when im intact with a nice high i feel in sync with the plant (ecosystem, life in general) i even feel the spin of the earth and my mind feels contentious will the universe and my place in it, Galactic, i feel Human in the raw and true sence of the word

props to this lady! I have a lot of respect for her, she stands up proudly and confidently for what she believes. she's smart and seems dedicated to spreading the truth about marijuana, which is what really needs to happen. the spread of truth and real information will change minds and spark curiosity, which we need for change to happen. so I hope she keeps up the good fight, and hopefully it's just a matter of time until the stigma is gone and society in the US has come to accept marijuana as a more normal thing.

You know the other guy on the radio brought up a really good point that I think non weed smokers need to think more about the thing is whether or not you personally want to go buy weed legally or not it's about do you want people to be out here illegally buying a substance that is not regulated so no one knows what's in whether its safe or even is what they say it is or be able to go to a dispensary which like they said is basically just a liquor store or Tobacco store for weed

Anything you abuse can destroy you, including weed. I first started smoking pot with friends, then occasionally alone after I would finish all of my daily obligations....then weed became a motivation for me to finish all of my obligations. Soon I've started smoking it on daily basis, although it wasn't working for me, and was making me sloppy, lost, ineffective, isolated. When I got annoyed, I smoked weed. When I was sad, I smoked weed. When I was dissatisfied, I smoked weed. Instead of using it to help me when I needed it, I started abusing marijuana in order to repress negative feelings. Now I stopped for at least a year, and at the end I will be able to see what this has done for me. Be smart, don't smoke weed because someone tells you its safe and it has never killed anyone. If it works for you and you can stay PRODUCTIVE, do your thing. If not, question your lifestyle and make necessary changes in order to improve it. KNOW THYSELF.

I thought it was kind of obvious...as the owner of the acc (ak cannabis club) she will clearly benefit from selling cannabis after it has been legalized. But she needed to fight to legalize her industry, she used the cover of medical cannabis users to defend/promote her industry. At least that is my perspective on the issue, dont quote me

As someone who has smoked for 21 years & is a total advocate for legalising marijuana were I'm from which is Melbourne Australia, i just wanted to say Charlo your an inspiration to us all & wish we has such an advocate down here as it's already legal in 3 of our major states being A.C.T, Northern Territory & South Australia, but yet there still haven't legalised it here in Melbourne, i self medicate as it helps me with both my ticks from my Tourettes i was diagnosed with at a young age & for my Mental health disorder being my anxiety & depression, not to mention the many of people with either cancer or even kids that have severe epileptic fits that it has literally saved there lives #Legalisemarijuanainalloz #medicalmarijuanacanhelplives
