Imagine owning a german shepherd w/o even knowing anything about dogs. The puppy needed to learn boundaries. It could’ve tried that with an actual aggressive dog and might’ve not gotten off so easily. There’s a difference between aggression and discipline.

What's hitting the dog going to do? Besides, that wasn't even a fight. The adult dog is training the pup. Clearly this person has no knowledge of pups and their parents and how to handle them and what their behavior is like.

Bet the daughter won't ever try to take her dad's treat again. Good for the adult GSD. The puppy was nipping at him and once she tried to take his treat like that he had to correct her. He was intense about it but didn't hurt her at all, only her feelings.

U can tell the lady spoils the puppy too much...so once she left ,the older dog had had enough of the pups antics...it was time for a correction...and look closely once the lady returns and reprimands the older dog...the pup almost instantly backs the lady like yeah u better tell him...if this behavior continues the is gon be a huge prob once the pup is grown

Had 2 chuahuaha brothers and when the older one got pissed he would bump his lil bro with his butt causing him to freak out just like the pup in the video . He was never physically hurt but his ego sure was . I miss them little guys more then words can express .

The way the adult dog instantly backed into a corner and tried to leave shows that this lady has unnecessarily punished this dog multiple times.

I saw resource guarding due to dominance was the issue, but also an important lesson learned to the younger pup. There's gonna be three types of people who read this- the ones who personify animals like people, believing that the bigger German Shepard was a bad, aggressive, killer, bully dog picking on the smaller dog which is wrong because apparently dogs behave like humans, the curious ones who want to understand this situation more and learn, and the ones who have worked with animals, done their research, understand animal body language, and already know what's going on. The two dogs were fine in the same room in the beginning, both had playful and loose body language, right up until the bigger German Shepard went for the bone on the ground at 0:12. At 0:14 the pup noticed the bigger German Shepard was going for the bone, and went around to grab the bone at 0:17, giving submissive behavior by lowered ears and lowered tail, but you see the bigger German Shepard give a warning at 0:18, the body language wasn't loose but stiff and stern, and not moving the face from the bone. Even though those were dog warning signs, I'm guessing the pup didn't know what that body language meant yet, and backed up and tried again to go for the bone at 0:20, at which point the bigger German Shepard responds with a more stern correction- barking, nipping, pawing to pin down, and standing over the pup to assert dominance, ending the tussle with a lip lick at 0:24, which is another warning sign to say "don't try it again!!" and walked away. However when the correction from the bigger German Shepard scared the crap out of the pup, which yelped, screamed, and submitted, and ran away into a corner. As soon as the pup ran away, the German Shepard disengaged and walked away at 0:26, the lesson was taught. For those saying the bigger German Shepard was trying to kill the pup, look up dogs attacking other dogs, and watch when they have real intent to kill. They go for the throat, legs, body, whatever they can clamp down on, and start shaking violently and try to drag them around as well, and keep going until someone pulls them off or the animal stops moving. This situation was a correction to teach the pup to pay attention when a dog is giving a warning. At 0:27, the bigger German Shepard looks for the human coming back, and knowing it is gonna be in trouble, runs itself into a corner by the door since it's the closest way outside as the human walks in. By 0:29, you see the bigger German Shepard take submissive behavior to the human: tail down, ears back, head lowered, averts eye contact, and with back curled slightly, lowers itself closer to the ground. Then going back to 0:28, watch the pup's reaction to the human coming in. All fear forgotten, and is just happy to see the human, and comes running up to her. At 0:30 the pup sees the human corner the bigger German Shepard, and gets nosy by butting in, which is where the human corrected the pup telling it to "Get out of here".

All bark no scratch and it still gets hit on the face I did hope it did something to make sure the pup learnt its listen

That was NOT a fight at all for people wondering. That was a correction, It is perfectly normal. The puppy overstepped boundaries, The older dog corrected it. If puppies do not get corrected, It can be bad later in life.

I rescued a young abused pitt. I have an older Mastiff. Mastiff would correct the pittie this way. My fiance thought we needed to make Mastiff stop "being a bully". I'm like no... He teaching him the ropes. For all the predicted naysayers.. pittie would also hide completely under his big brother Mastiff whenever he was nervous. Mastiff totally allowed pittie this protection every time. Pittie wouldn't take a treat from the vet unless the Mastiff did, and after a few visits he was familiar and braver instead of being petrified/traumatized/defensive. Cuz his protector said the vet was cool. Dog trust!

Lol I understand how that would sound frightening to the owner. It's a natural instinct to protect babies when they cry. The mother dogs do the exact same thing to the dad dogs even if they are in the right. However, the father was correcting the pup and teach the pup to respect his boundaries. She won't try that again. He taught her a valuable lesson.

My old pitbull raised a lot of pups and even a couple rescue kittens. She corrected their behavior frequently. I didnt interfer. They all grew up to be awesome pets. Mom knows best.

Ok, the adult corrected the pup. Wild dogs do that, many animals do that, humans correct childrens’ misbehavior. Maybe not how the dog did it but in the animal world, it’s the same. The adult shouldn’t be punished for correcting the pups mistake.

Why does the German sheperd get punished for correcting the puppies bad behavior? This is proof some people don’t deserve dogs, the puppy tried stealing the Shepards bone and the Shepard corrected that behavior

Puppies are just too dramatic about corrections, when I first brought home my puppy the second he saw my other dog he screamed just cause he was nervous. He's been corrected by her multiple times like this and he's learned his manners. It what she's supposed to do as the older dog of the house, however we do make sure she's not overwhelmed, and she's not babysitting him, because that isn't her job, it's ours.

That wasn't a dog fight. He adult was correcting the pup and didn't hurt it but scared it. As soon as the pup tried to get toy the adult gave warning by tensing and stiffening up. Probably gave other warnings we couldn't see due to camera angle. It's how pup learn and dog communicate. I've a pack of 8 and if one posses other off and they don't take the warning then they do the same. Non get hurt and looks far worse than it is. Poor adult dog got told off for being a dog 😢
