We found ourselves back in Ireland! This time in Malahide, to the north of Dublin, to look more in depth at a castle which Vicki only had a few moments at before during All The Stations Ireland.

I hope this is a trend, I'd love for Vicki to explore more castles in the future! Particularly Warwick castle, Cardiff castle, Edinburgh castle and Highclere castle

My Mother was a Talbot and her great grandparents came from that area. My Mam went to Ireland for her 80th Birthday to visit there to find out more about her ancestors...

Looks like your opening shots are of a Northern Ireland Railways CAF 3000 DMU which is a replacement for a failed Enterprise train which is run by both Irish Rail and Northern Ireland Railways.

A very interesting history lesson, just a shame you did not visit Castle Barnard in Bandon when over here, the home of the late Earl of Bandon, sadly now an overgrown ruin as destroyed during the war of independence. The title is now a dead one as he had no male issue, his youngest daughter is still alive and the family still own the land.

Lovely. I love to see histories of castles kike this. In Canada anything over 100 years old is seen as ancient so this is wonderful for me to see.

The castle has a railway connection. For many years there was a large model railway there. It has now moved to a nearby location. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casino_Model_Railway_Museum

6:37 - Wow, is that a Maori tiki carving and some New Zealand native Harakeke (flax) plants? The trees in the foreground with the variegated leaves also look like a New Zealand Pittosporum too!

Malahide Castle used to be home to the Fry Model Railway.

I tried to go there. Didn't make it in before close, but I was able to use the bathroom and visit the very nice giftshop

It was fun that the video starts with showing an intercity (or something like that) train and than the shot of Vicki on a local DART train. :)

Surprised you didn’t go into the casino model railway museum it’s just next to malahide dart station and opened recently, I went there last week and they have a little model of Dublin with the loop like bridge

hi vicky, my grandad was Richard Talbot of opotiki in new zealand he is a decendant of the Talbots that came to england with william the conqurer in 1066 & then settled in Shewsberry england - 300years after a Talbot of the shrewsberry talbots married the daughter of John comyns (that robert the bruce killed) im wondering if these are the same tabot that settles in malahide ?
