My Victa mower comes with the instruction to add oil before use. Like yours, the Valvoline oil I bought doesn't have a proper pourer, when I tried oil went all over the deck. It would be so easy to mould a better pourer into the bottle, or provide a top that has a pourer, like my bottles of PVA.
You definitely can't beat a Victa mower with a Briggs & Stratton engine!!! I know this because mine is 20 years old I have only now just learnt I'm meant to check the oil 😂 Haha
G'day. How do i tell the G4 from the LM carby? Both I have here, had the clear and black poppet valves in a bag of parts. Black poppet one has to go into the LM per Victa book notes. Only body difference I can see is where the decompression hose goes onto the back of carbys - one vac inlet is longer with a white tip, and the other shorter with no white tip. Thanks.
This was interesting because Briggs & Stratton does not suggest to change the oil on some models, just top it off if necessary. I change the oil at 15 hour intervals and never had any problems except for that style air filter getting oil from the breather tube.
I like to take the base plate off when i do the blades because I also drain the oil out. There is a oil drain plug on my Victa mower above where the base plate goes so I remove the plate to then drain the oil out..
The video mentioned that you should not sharpen new blades. I have read turf websites indicating that blades should be sharpened - So do we or do we not sharpen mower blades?
Victa was the best but ... the Briggs & Stratton 4-stroke engines, the 450 and Q45, these are fantastic if fitted with a good deck and bar blade system. Yes these are domestic, light duty mowers but you should try one if it cuts really low, recommended.
One flaw in this video as shown in 1:34. It is unlikely that many mowers will have a clean bolts! Most lawnmowers will be covered with dirt, grass etc and the bolts will have harden, so removing that will be difficult from the back. Instead I would rather access it from the base (underneath) to remove the blades. For the life of me, I don't understand why Victa in their user manual fail to disclose the parts number, model for their lawnmowers? Its not that easy as I thought to be honest.
DO NOT TIP THE MOWER FORWARD. It cause oil to go to the combustion chamber tip it over to the side if you really have to. Do what I do just change the blades when you service it. I service mine once a year.
i have a victa corvette 750 161cc to change blades do you turn it on the side // front wheels left right I find it can be hard to do it flat on all four wheels
