Thank you for sharing. My granddaughter was being molested by her father probably from a young child to the age of 9 when she spoke to someone about daddy touching her.that was almost 4 years ago and her and the whole family are still going through counseling.

There is always something missing in the eyes of people who have been abused as Children..their hearts are heavy with pain that their sick perverted father’s left behind, they who were supposed to protect them.

I think if I could've forgotten, it might have been better. If I've forgotten anything, I'd be surprised, because I think I remember too much. It doesn't bother me, anymore, because I went back to the place it happened at, and when I saw the bathroom, that's all it was. I was able to look at it as an adult. I'd built it up, as a big, scary place, but all it was, was a small room.

No. This does not appear to be a case of recovered memory. She remembers certain details (sense memories), but the complete episodes are suppressed by the mind of a child in order to keep them from mentally breaking. This is a defense mechanism that children deploy. After all, they are completely and utterly dependent upon their parent's for food, shelter, and all of the necessities of survival. This is why children do not simply cut their tormentor's throat or run away and never look back. To have your trust and dependency so brutally violated forms a constellation of wounds that few can ever really heal from. It makes it well nigh impossible to have a normal, loving, and trusting partner. The expectation of betrayal persists throughout a lifetime.
