While doing some torch work a while back, the Oxygen regulator on my torch kit went a little wild and the pressure became uncontrollable. So after much thought and research, this is my solution and the rebuild

Thank you for sharing. It was very informative and helpful. When you removed the diaphragm and turned it around, it looks like it is in bad shape. Time 5:26 But, if the diaphragm was bad, you would have gas coming out of the vent holes in the cover. Glad to see the rebuild kit worked.

Hi Mr Youngblood!👋 the same just happened to me midway thru my project, luckily there’s a welding shop 20 miles from me I can get a rebuild kit from today. I’m not really interested in an Amazon kit(don’t know the quality) so off to the welding shop. Your pressure pin looks tore up!! That’s where the high pressure from the Oxy tank bleeds over to the low pressure side(to your torch) and that’s why you got 100+ lbs. showing on your gauge(which you want 20-25 lbs). Since that happened, it may have sprung your gauge and now it won’t return to zero(may need a new one now). As for unscrewing the pressure “T” after you shut everything down I say YES! Unscrew (back off) that T so the next time you open the tank valve all the pressure doesn’t hit that low side, in the unfortunate situation it could result in the regulator blowing up right into your face! Always power up your torch line little by little until the desired pressure you want. And release and back off any pressure when your finished. Good luck my friend and wish me luck too!!👍🏻

Looks good Joe! I didn't know they even had rebuild kits for the victor regulators. Great Video

I’m glad they had a rebuild kit, they are pretty expensive, just keep pushing record and hope it’s helpful to someone

I went through the same thing today. Made about 8 cuts and the regulator maxed out. Got the kit ordered for it. They're up close to $30 now. When I'm done cutting i do back the pressure screw out and bleed the hoses. Always turn the tanks on slowly and i never stand in front of the gauges just in case.

Great idea, I have an old giant vice with wood inserts, maybe I’ll start with a quick set for this little vice

HI Joe.........does the brass housing on your regulator have the 250-80-540 stamped on the outer ring??

Yes, actually it is stamped RC250-80-250, I’m guessing that is the same. Not sure what the RC stands for, but the part I linked worked well to fix the regulator, best of luck

A real good video on repairing your regulator but I noticed your low pressure gauge did not go back to zero after your over pressure condition. Does it need to be replaced or is there a way to re-zero it?? The way it is now not starting at zero you will have inaccurate pressure readings. Just my 2 cents.

I noticed blue thread tape on your table doesn't it have to be green for safety with oxygen?

Dude. U have no business making these kinda vids. "Im probably ganna do this wrong".. that means not ready to teach.

Dude, I’m going have to disagree, when a person says “probably gonna do this wrong” a person should be able to recognize that I’m not an expert, but I’m sharing my experience. If I can accomplish this successfully without any guidance, then others should have an advantage when completing this task. Would a tone of arrogance with a backdrop of music have made me more credible? This was sharing not teaching
