Property tax rate about 1.1% here in CA, .55%-ish in TN and the dollar goes further in TN housing ($2 million house here in CA is like $1.2 in TN). SDGE kWh rate is about 48 cents, perhaps 15 cents in TN. People are polite in TN, bunch of potty-mouth liberals here in CA. Get the picture?

I know what Mr Hanson is talking about. One day I was sitting at a stop light waiting for it to change to green and a car rear rear-ended me. We exchanged information but he gave me fake insurance information and it turned out he had no insurance. I went to a CHP office to discuss it with them and they told me "we won't do anything to the man that hit you but if you don't fill out an accident report we WILL suspend your license". As far as I'm concerned he told me I was the easy target so they would go after me.

My friend had her license suspended because she did know she had to fill out a special report for getting rear ended when the cops refused to show up because they were too busy. So they don’t show up and you have to jump the extra hoops. The dmv found out because of her insurance claim.

The Oakland case is the city going after seniors who own their homes outright. No mortgage. The goal is to but the home owner in fines so the city can take the property and give it to a connected developer. In the surface, it all looks legal. CA judges will side with gov't.

Oakland has been a sh!t show for ages. They have had a community board police their law enforcement for years. As proposed during Defund, it’s there. Oakland was a beautiful city. At least there were safe neighborhoods and some pretty high end homes. Now, residents cannot go out even in daylight. It is incredibly heartbreaking when people have to flee their beloved cities to stay safe and alive. It seems like a violation of our constitutional rights

It's a good idea for anyone transplanting from a blue to red state, but it will not happen because it would require changes in residency laws that would be considered discriminatory, probably racist and likely some kind of phobic.
