My belief is that most Americans are so disconnected from politics that they don't know the names the two senators of their state and the representative of the district in which they live. Voting is a privilege in a Republic, not a right for all citizens. Every step that has compromised the quality of the group that votes has created and promoted further corruption. Knowledge (i.e. science and technology) equates to power. As knowledge increases, man's pride increases, but as his pride increases his wisdom (which is necessary to manage power) decreases. This does not bode well. Graph that out and one will see that it quickly ends in self-destruction. That is why God divided the languages at the Tower of Babel. Many nations created wars, limiting man's ability to develop in knowledge. (Peace is required to have the resources to develop knowledge.) This provided the time needed for the divine plan of redemption to carry through its divine schedule. However, once knowledge began to increase in the 1500's, one could begin to plot its development to determine when the ascending curve would increase quickly enough to define an asymptote. Basically, where the line of ascending knowledge (or pride) intersects with the line of descending wisdom is the point in time when civilizations on earth self-destruct. To be honest, this graph could be easily drawn well over 50 years ago (or anytime after WWII) so as to show us how much more time mankind has left. Indeed, the Lord will be returning very soon.
