Late 1916, not early 1917,probably around December 1916 as it's serial number is around 5000 below the first for 17.

I am finishing up the servicing of a VV-IV 1916 now. Just have to adjust the brake a bit and it's done. These are good machines to learn on.

@@Rockisland1903 What rubber feet go better with/are correct for this machine, 5/8 or 3/4? Need to order from Walt.

Being the smallest machine it uses the smallest rubber feet. 5/8, but I do like to sometimes use the larger 3/4 because it gives whatever you set the machine on some more protection.. 3/4 would be for the larger 6, 8, and 9 Victrolas.

How can I tell what year my Victrola 4 is

By the serial number on the metal tag mounted on the side of the case. It will look something like VV-IV 123456 You can look it up online or send it to me and I can decode it.
