@@anonymouslakernerd7214no he was saying that Shaq has so many kids that if he had to take off days for each of their graduations he wouldn’t be able to come to work since he has so many kids. Now there are several holes than can poked in this joke, but that is the joke.
@@BiniyamTesfalem Not unanimously their is already people confirmed they are voting for Wemby over Gobert. Out of 23 people that confirmed who they will vote for DPOY 15 voted for Gobert and 8 voted for Wemby and out of those 23 Gobert has 93 points and Wemby has 53 points so the fact that voters even consoidered Wemby for the award is big. Alot of voters i feel is scared to vote for Wemby over Gobert. Can any of these voters can actually explain their reasoning behind voting for Gobert over Wemby or are they just going with the crowd.
salty shaq is always salty with everything .... he's salty with tim duncan, he's salty with steve nash ..... he's even got salty with kenny smith one time, cuz kenny talked with the joker a few serbian language/words before doing the english interview ..... probably deep inside,he thinks he's the only person who has the right to do it .... 😂🤣😂🤣-🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
I was asking myself..."why did they name the Rookie of the Year Trophy after Wilt?" Then Ernie noted Wilt's 1960 Rookie Season stats.... Averaged 38 points per game and 27 rebounds per game....LOL. That is INSANE.
Yup. A lot of Wilt's numbers were acheived on an extremely high number of attempts while averaging over 46 minutes per game. But on the flip side, it took super human stamina to be able to perform on both ends of the floor consistently for so many minutes a night. So hats off to Wilt, arguably the greatest athlete to play basketball and one of the greatest overall athletes of all time.
The impact that Wemby has had on these Spurs is incredible. Coming into the 2023 NBA draft, the Spurs, roster wise, were the worst team and ended up with the first overall pick. But he Wemby has shown how capable and impactful he can be and has brought the Spurs back to relevance! 🥶
@@joshuaherrera9331 Well, yeah. His supporting cast isn’t exactly the best. And as a rookie, you need to adjust a bit to the NBA. The Spurs weren’t going to be instant contenders because he got there. But they’ve had some good wins. Notably late in the year against Denver.
Went from what 10th seed last year to this year’s mediocre 14th seed? They’re practically tanking its sad… even sadder adam silver is robbing rightful winners of these awards in his efforts of “expanding the game” wemby only won because all of france voted for him
I already knew wemby was going to win rookie of the year he has lots of potential to be mvp one day in the nba and to be the greatest in the near future in he’s career future superstar and high caliber player
The fact also that he has a good head on his shoulder and doesn't do stupid things like wave guns around on social media or go to strip clubs helps greatly.
Dude is speaking English as his second language and he speaks better than so many Americans who grew in an English speaking country and attended some of the best schools in the World. Somebody make it make sense. lol
Honestly, hes even much better than bron was as a rookie, its kinda crazy. Hes probably the best rookie we have had since either hakeem or Jordan with the level of production hes had with the minutes hes played, its crazy
Congrats to Wemby, I wish you all the best. Looking forward to seeing you playing in the JO’s of Paris and next season. It’s always a pleasure watching your games.
Yeah all the talk about elevating the team, well they play just as well without him so who's he elevating? Aren't the coaches responsible for elevating a team? Rename the award and give it to the coaches. Also going by the DPOY logic, the MVP should always go to the player on the team with the best total stats because you can just claim the MVP elevated his team.
He never lived in an english speaking country before but I assume he's been a fan of American culture since chilhood. That's probably why he used to work hard on his english.
Winning the NBA Rookie of the Year Award puts Victor Wembanyama in the same category as both Michael Jordan and LeBron James. But if Victor Wembanyama also wins the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award, this distinction will put him in a category with only Michael Jordan. The only award that LeBron James doesn’t have in his house is the NBA Hakeem Olajuwon Defensive Player of the Year Award because it’s been in Michael Jordan’s house since 1988. Michael Jordan is the GOAT forever. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wemby is already the 1st player in NBA history to be a finalist in ROTY and DPOY no player in NBA history finished as a top 3 finalist in both awards as a rookie. Their have only been 6 Uninimous ROTY MJ and Lebron was not uniminous. The fact that Wemby finished uniminous and Chet got 0 1st place votes was actually impressive. Very surprised not a single voter leaned towards Chet at all because of OKC record over the Spurs.
Wemby bound for all time greatness. u could not see a kid that talented and be goal oriented to be great. (also ANT is like that) humble yet knows he is privileged. These newer nba lottery picks are all entitled and blinded by their millions.
Shaq pissed he wasn't unanimous, I'm over here trying to remember who would have taken votes away from Tim Duncan as RotY or LeBron James Edit: Oh right, Melo. 2003 was certainly a stacked class
My favourite part of this was Chuck asking him how much he loves being in America, and Wemby's reply doesn't say anything about loving being in America. This guy is from fucking PARIS, not some slum.
Been following the association for over 35 years now, I don't think I ever saw NBA players having to walk through gun, errrrr, metal detectors before... I call that the Ja Morant Effect... Right Charles...???
