I'm 76 yrs. old, have been using and playing with knives all my life and with your video, found out that I have been doing so, inefficiently. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks. Thank you.

It doesn't work as well if you don't add the sound effects lol

I have been a gorilla! I have regarded some knives as poor cutting quality when I have been a poor knife user.

OMG Felix man... you have the knack of simplifying knife usage so any one can under stand.. Your description of how a cut works is brilliant. People thrash with their knives all the time, By making a conscious effort to convert from push split motion to the proper windshield wiper cutting motion, radically changes the efficiency of the cut. I tried your instruction and immediately a difficult knife to use became an easy knife to use. Feather sticks here i come. it is no wonder that you make a Victorinox accomplish any task.. It may seem simple and obvious but it is not... well done again thank you for sharing your knowledge. J

Felix, I think this is the most important tip you ever provided. There are too many (knife) people which are don't know how to properly use a knife

The simple joy of hearing "Hello RU-vid" is a trigger to perk up and get the knife out and start practicing.

Your videos should be compulsory viewing for the Scouts and Explorers. It is often fundamental details like the slicing action happening concurrently with the forward motion that so many instructors fail to communicate. Same principle technique for meat and veggies too. It`s a knife blade, not a bulldozer.

Yes--I have noticed so many "outdoorsmen" demonstrating blades with that inefficient forward push cut. Your illustrated cuts and techniques project guide is on my list to buy. Simple but brilliant. I learn much from your videos, even after 50+ years of whittling with mostly Victorinox pocket knives.

Recently there has been a trend with bushcraft knives for the blades to get thicker and thicker and for the fixed blade knife to be used for wood work and not game whereas historically the folder was for wood and the fixed blade with a much finer blade than you see today kept for game butchery. Felix your expertise and insight not only makes the rest of us better users but highlights the knowledge shortcomings in the field. Felix Immler prophet of the knive blade!

Felix, you are an outstanding teacher. Your description, narration, speaking pace, emphasis, use of good humor (your windshield wiper sound effect in this lesson helps stick the tip in memory) and your knowledge and skillful demonstration are excellent. Well done! Exemplary teaching and demonstration of a new skill. And that tip is a very good one. Thanks!

This is very very basic but very very important as well! I've seen even some self-proclaimed chefs, who press into the knife, without sliding it. I don't remember who told me this, but I'm sure glad they did as it much safer. The more you press into the blade the bigger the chance of cutting yourself of course.
