Thanks for the update and content mate. We have a 2018 Jayco Journey 22ft hoping to hit the road on the big lap next year pending these boarders of course. I have modeled my setup on your original vid but went for 240amp/h lithium. Good in-site into the air con usage. Safe travels
Nice system. I think if your gonna be running a load of air con microwaves etc you could ideally do with more battery storage so that the overnight sag isn't so bad.
Hi sorry this is on a old post but just going back over your old video as doing a dc dc in my jayco but would like to know what size was your mppt thanks
I'm looking at purchasing the 12/12-30 DC/DC charger. Can you give me an arbitrary valve of how many hours of drive time it takes to get the battery bank back to 100% SOC not counting your solar. For instants- At 50% SOC on your bank, it will take X hours of drive time to be at 100% SOC. Great video BTW, clear information and straight to the point.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment! Ok, so if my batteries were at 50% that would mean I have used 150amp hours as I have 300amp hours in total. My DCDC charger would pump 30amp hours back in per hour meaning it would take 5 hours of driving to get it to 100% of charge. I hope that makes sense? If you had less amps it would take less time to charge and vice versa if you had more amps. 👍
@@venturingfour That what I had calculated, just wanted to hear you say it since your running it. You have the only real video that I've seen at this time on this DC/DC charger. Thanks!
Hey mate, im running bmpro j35, do you know if i use your RVD how i stop the j35 from charging batteries when inverter is on, it surely thinks its connected to shore power
Good question Trena. In my setup, I had a seperate mains charger AC/DC which I was able to switch on and off when RVD plugged in. Im not sure how the J35 functions but maybe there would be an on off switch?
Hi, nice setup, I have virtually the same setup in a 22.68 OB-3 but with Enerdrive 200AH lithium battery. What type of J35 C or D. I noticed its not plugged into the 240Vac, do you have any closeup of the complete system?. I have also installed a 500A bluetooth shunt as its easy to see whats happening with the current load (distribution). The BMV montiors the battery and the shunt monitors the load. so I can see whats coming into battery and whats consuming power. Keep up with the videos, good to see the setup evolving. Im thinking of adding another battery for capacity but dont need anymore current than the 200A.
Bush magpie 33 thanks for your comment! I have the J35C and no it’s not plugged in. I also have a 500A shunt which shows everything on my BMV. I do have close up pics but not sure if I’ll be able to put them on here. Do you follow us on Instagram or Facebook? I could probably do it through that. 👍
Just about to install a DC DC in a small cupboard above my batteries in my motorhome. Do you find it gets hot? Bit worried about air flow. Nice install BTW.
I read the Victron Orion 12 12 30 instructions and I was confused by the info on how the system turns on. Specifically, what connection needs to be made in order for the unit to sense that the tow vehicle engine is running and that it can begin taking power from the starting battery in the tow vehicle?
I know exactly what you mean Andrew. I was unable to test the DCDC until I fully wired up the system and then plugged in my tow vehicle to my Anderson plug. Once connected to my tow vehicle I was then able to see it on my Victron App and adjust any settings that I needed. I hope this helps. 👍
We didn’t have any issues, however the kettle did play up but we put that down to it being a cheap one. Other than that we had zero issues powering everything else. If you can afford to go the 3000 and you have the space then I’d go 3000 👍
@@venturingfour I’m just trying to see if the extra money and weight is super justified, I can limit things to 1800w I don’t need to weld or anything if it’s gauge issue later on I can parallel
Hi Daniel! No need for me to ground to caravan as my RVD does this for me. I’d highly recommend seeking professional advice for your setup. Thanks for watching. 👍
Hi mate, I would like to know if the 12-30 DCDC Charger,it could also charge the AGM batteries. How many Amp does your alternator have? Has it added anything extra, or is it original from the factory? Thanks in advance!
Hey Daniel, I’m pretty sure it can be used on AGM batteries as well as lithium. I couldn’t tell you how many amps my alternator has but I get 30amps from the DCDC charger. And mine is original from factory. Thanks for watching. 👍
Hi Mate, Thanks for your video. At the moment I have 16ft caravan with 2x 100AH AGM batteries controlled by Redarc Redvision manager 30kit under sofa. I m thinking of changing the batteries to 2x 200AH lithium batteries for off grid . But I don't have enough space under the sofa for 2x 200Ah lithium batteries. Will it be ok to move the complete system to under the bed? Do you have ventilation for it? Thanks
Hey Phil, Springers Solar who fitted out my entire setup recommended Victron over Enerdrive even though they sell both. As far as I know Victron have been around a lot longer and have a proven record. I still love Enerdrive and the systems that they offer 👍
from what I've found the Enerdrive doesn't have the 'smart' Bluetooth connectivity which allows all things to be monitored individually without the need for 3rd party monitoring (ie. Redvision etc.) I'm a fan of both in their own respects. I feel thats where the extra price comes into play at least. Each to their own!
It doesn’t get warm at all. The batteries are still cool to touch from the outside. Never had any issues with our batteries and wouldn’t change a thing. 👍
@@venturingfour For the first time I connected my victron system into my Ergon house supply yesterday and found I had to run the victron inverter to power the ac and GPO which has left me so confused, the inverter noise and the heat it generates is so disruptive even when connected to an electrical source I'm thinking there must have been an alternative way to wire the victron inverter so I wouldn't need it v running while connected to my house supply.
Sorry mate I can’t really answer that question. I’ve never heard of Battle Born until now. Not sure how long they’ve been in production either compared to Victron? It looks like they get good reviews though. I wish you the best of luck choosing. Thanks for watching 👍
