Many guys ask me how to prepare their bodies (and minds) for prostate cancer surgery. This video is an outline of dieting, doing kegal exercises and working your core muscles to prepare for a perfect surgery. Note, I am not a doctor, and you should always consult with a doctor on any topics of health. These are only my opinions.

Thank you for this video Mark. My surgery is July 10. Being a truck driver, my diet and exercise are not great (ok, they're terrible). I'll try to work on that though. Thank you so much for this information .

Excellent video series Mark. I was diagnosed 2 years ago with Gleason 6 during a transperineal biopsy, PSA 2.48. I am on active surveillance right now. I think if on next biopsy I have Gleason 7 or 8 cores, I would definitely consider what you have done!
@24hourgmtchannel64

I two have Gleason 6 2 out of 12 cores. Has your situation changed? I've heard of people on G6 AS for 12 years wit no change which I find surprising.
@johndemerse9172

@@24hourgmtchannel64 I just had my 3rd transperineal biopsy after my 3rd MRI since 2015 showed a small increase in size of lesion. Results of targeted biopsy were still G6 in 5 out of 9 cores. I will remain on AS and still classed as Grade Group 1. No need for treatment. I now will do another MRI in 2 years with PSA and Testosterone testing every 6 months. 70% of all men with Grade Group 1 will never need treatment in their lifetime. Treatment happens when G7 and higher are detected. In some cases, men with low volume G7 3+4 can be on AS.

@@johndemerse9172 Thanks John. I am overwhelmed with newly diagnosed worry and fear it is spreading as I type even though statically G6 is not known to do so in 99.8 % cases. Also my age of 55 makes me think AS is a bit to risky even though AS has no age limit. Any recommendations on how to overcome it? I'm not sure how will be able to handle AS and have the feeling of just wanting to get it out. I'm not eating and constantly on the computer looing it up. Not treating a "C" just seems so foreign.

@@24hourgmtchannel64 I am under the care of Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Andrew Loblaw is one of the best in the world. I have learned so much from him and other men. Do not worry, even know it is hard to think there is Cancer in your Prostate. The old days it was always a rush to remove the Prostate or have it radiated. Trust me, MRI's, regular PSA tests every 6 months and a transperineal biopsy every 2 to 4 years is so much better than experiencing all those crazy side effects from treatment. Why should a man go through all that if he does not have to. I was diagnosed at 55 as well and now 62. I have avoided all the nonsense of treatment. If my grade changes I will still be at the curable stage.

Hi Mark, I had my surgery 5 weeks ago. Doc didn't prescribe cialis until I asked him about it 2 weeks after surgery. Planning to pick prescription today. What time of the day did you take yours? Morning or evening?

Hi Mark and thanks for sharing your experience. Today it us my 4th day after removal of the catheter. I am concerned because my urine string is thin some times interrupted with drops, I push and the string does not change the caliber. I some times have a feeling of incomplete emptying. I was thinking to call the surgeon tomorrow. I wanter to ask since your catheter was removed you had a strong thick string , I mean normal like before surgery?

Latigo, there may be a slight blockage. You should visit your surgeon, and discuss this with them.

This month will mark 6 months after robotic surgery. The two issue still continuing is incontinence and sexual function. I can tell that the incontinence is better but not completely gone. I'd say about 80%. I have more of a stress incontinence My doctor says could be a year. I can hold a kegel for a long time. Hope it will be completely gone. Sexual function, well, don't know yet. Overall, I feel pretty good.

Mark, I assume you have no medical training or licenses. Please stop giving medical advice. My experience is far different from yours. Viewers, please follow the advice of your surgeon prior to following the advice of one person who happened to have a great experience. It is NOT the same for all men. Way too many variables.

Mark, I did send a personal email to your myprostate411@yahoo.com. I believe that you are trying to help others and keep this positive. You are recounting your experiences, but you have also gone way beyond that throughout your video series. I definitely feel like your heart is in the right place, but you are absolutely "advising". You are giving step-by-step directions for what to do to prepare for surgery. This information should be coming from each patient's surgeon or medical team, not you. This and other videos go well beyond you simply sharing your story. Absolutely share your story, what you did, what worked for you, what didn't, but stop telling others what to do or what to expect as an outcome. Just by the title of this video alone, "How to Prepare Your Body for Prostate Cancer Surgery" indicates that this video is giving advice. Instead it should be called, "How I prepared my body for Prostate Cancer Surgery", then explain what worked for you and stop at that. In this video you state, "Let the prostate heal for six weeks to two months, but don’t worry, Gleason score of 6-7 is generally very very slow moving." "You can literally not do anything for 6-12 months, and you wouldn’t be any worse off ." That is all medical advice. MY STORY: I had a Gleason score of 7. Only 3 of the 17 biopsy cores were positive and only on one side of my prostate. 11 months later, I had a Gleason score of 8.5 and 7 of the 14 biopsy cores were positive, and the cancer had spread to the other side of my prostate. So in my case I was definitely worse off, and the cancer was not moving "very very slowly" as you stated it generally would!. So by you stating that "you wouldn't be any worse off is absolutely false in my case and it is absolutely giving medical advice. For YOU, maybe it was not a problem, for others it may be! Let the. medical professionals make that call. Your clearly state that you are not a doctor, so please stop giving advice on medical information, situations, conditions, and outcomes that you are not trained to give! In this video you are also giving diet and exercise advice, so should we assume you are a trained dietitian and personal trainer? Many people are already on strict diets and have physical limitations, so please don't advise on subjects unless you are a trained expert in those fields, and you are giving individualized advice to your own patients/clients. Anytime you use terms like "perfect urinary control" 100% continence or "zero continence issues from day one" you are setting many other men up for disappointments. MY STORY: I did Kegel exercises religiously for 45 days prior to surgery, I was and am still physically fit and an active cyclist, at 55 I had very nice abs, a slender body, and I've been vegan for over 10 years and vegetarian since high school. After the catheter was removed I was only continent while sitting reclined or lying down for months. To this day, I still have to use a thick shield in my briefs and I still struggle with continence issues while standing for long periods or walking long distances. So for me, there is no "perfect, no 100% and no "zero"! No doctor or surgeon would ever use numbers or statements like the ones you use so freely. You believe you are simply sharing your story, but go back and listen to your words... you are actually advising as much, if not more than sharing your story. And the bigger issue I have is that you are offering up the same results to others that you have had, as if it was almost a guarantee! Based on what my surgeon told me, most men are not as lucky as you. Prior to my surgery, my surgeon told me it could take up to a year or longer to regain urinary continence, and he said that some men never get back to "full control". He said the same for sexual function, even with the nerves carefully spared it could take up to three years to get back to a somewhat normal state, but he said most men never have the same sexual function. Most men I know who have had this same robotic surgery or radiation treatment, have not had the same experience that you describe. I know 12 men personally who have had prostate surgery and 8 who have had radiation treatment. Only a few have success stories like you. Some are younger than me and and some are older. I have also listened to men in support groups who are struggling with incontinence, sexual limitations, penis shrinkage and shape change. Your videos, while well meaning, are only presenting your results. Most men will not realize the same outcome as you have and as you indicate. I have said enough. Cheers, Paul
