Mark, a huge thank you 🙏 though for me it’s all in hindsight. I had my RP in 2013 and had zero advice. I struggled with debilitating incontinence for 2 years. Eventually did a uro flow test and then had 6 sessions with a pelvic floor therapist. Now have metastatic recurrence and have switched to Keto about 1 year ago. Next PSMA Pet scan in 2 weeks to see where to head next. Best wishes with your treatment.

I am about 13 months post surgery. I have a challenge to try days without pads in my briefs. Unfortunately it's allergy season. Sneezing is enough to leak a few drops. So I will try again each week. So I remain near the edge of having urinary continence. I use a vacuum most mornings in the shower. No luck having any erection yet. I had super low testosterone for years before my diagnosis so that may be an interaction between two problems. I restarted low carb. Back in ketosis and back losing fat. Of course the first two weeks I lost 4-6 pounds of water weight. Those days I could not go without a pad, but water loss only happens once. Ten pounds lost, very many more to go. You were blessed with good results. I was not. My weight very likely correlated so I will keep low carb as long as I can take it.

Hi Mark, congrats on you 6th week of proton radiation therapy. ❤... I am also on my 6th week of tomo therapy, but experiencing side effects like, lbm and dribbling urine esp at night, 3 or more times.

Can you please elaborate on the urine problems. I am 70 years old and about to take proton therapy. But I am very much concerned because at night I pee at least five times! Hard starting slow stream dribbles at the end! Any thoughts on my current

Sorry I didn't finish my reply. Do you think that I may have urine retention problems? Because of the way I urinate at night! Please reply any way you can.

@ricknowak4582 you haven't mentioned if your prostate was removed? If no, your urethra is restricted. If yes, tell your radiation oncologist first before you start your therapy.

@ricknowak4582 23 дня назад
@@warrenmaralit2461 Yes I did not have my prostate removed yet! And I did ask my radiologist and he says no we'll give you smaller doses but more! So the prostate won't get as inflamed. I believe he would say anything just to get $100,000 at proton radiation will cost! Just saying. Cuz everything I read on the internet says..." if you have problems now you're going to have MORE problems later with radiation!" Who do I believe.

Nigel, make sure you are doing Kegels every day, all day.

Hi Mark, you indicate to do these exercises 90 days prior to surgery, How long do you have to wait for surgery once the biopsy has been done ??
@prostatecancerexperience
@prostatecancerexperience 21 день назад
There is no specified time to have surgery after a biopsy, but assuming that you have a biopsy of Gleason 6 or 7 and opt for surgery, you may want to pursue surgery in a timely manner (especially at Gleason 7 or higher).

So Mark after the catheter is removed can you immediately start your kegel exercises? I would think you'd have to wait maybe two weeks for it to heal properly before you do any exercises. Thoughts?
@prostatecancerexperience
@prostatecancerexperience 23 дня назад
Rick, you should not do kegels directly after catheter and surgery. I would wait a few weeks.
@ricknowak4582
@ricknowak4582 22 дня назад
@@prostatecancerexperience I agree. However I'm thinking all the kegels you do before surgery what happens if you have to wait 3 weeks to start up again? Don't you think that all the exercise you did before was in vain. Cuz you're back to square one I'm thinking. Thoughts please. It's just like if you're doing exercises push-ups say and all of a sudden take 3 weeks off you tend to soften up.
@prostatecancerexperience
@prostatecancerexperience 22 дня назад
@@ricknowak4582 Rick, I think that you perhaps do not understand the purpose of Kegels. You want to do them starting a month before surgery to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. This way, after surgery and after the catheter comes out, your body can handle urine control as best it can. Even if there is a delay of a week or so between surgery and catheter, those Kegels will have added strength. They will not serve you as well AFTER surgery, as your body will be in repair mode and the Kegels will be more difficult. From what I understand, Kegels after surgery are not as effective.

I've read that consuming animal fats and animal proteins encourage the growth of prostate cancer.

There is some talk of this, but there have been no definite conclusions. Prostate cancer is fueled solely by testosterone.

Not true. Too much alcohol not good, certain venereal diseases early in life, cooking / frying in vegetable oils, fast / fake foods, and being more than 10% above your weight at ~20-yrs old are much bigger risk factors imo~
