First let me say that this channel is a God send! I have been having a tough time understanding exactly what I should be looking for as it pertains to an insurance company that will cover me. We are a brand new company and a lot of the questions insurance reps are asking me don't apply at the moment. Anyone able or willing to please walk me this process?

Hi James E Hines II. Call the 3 companies that we talked about in the video and they'll get you taken care of. If you aren't talking to one of those companies, you're going to waste a lot of time and get the wrong coverage.

Question? It strikes me odd for licensing of guards or officers, when most in my experience are not trained in any specialty other then keeping daily logs or sign in/out sheets. Most aren't able to do anything, an most of the people we try to deter, Know that, no self defense training, report training or detainment training. So it is weird to have to have a license when anyone literally can do the job. An I have seen national companies do the same as lower end companies. Which defeats the propose of security, but to watch, report an sit back which is poor in my book if I was a client. My question is what is the general propose of a guard license, an security that can't do anything other watch an call the police? Which btw by the time most police get to the scene person is gone damage is done because security can't do anything an just a uniform not going scare bad people away be most seen mall cop know security can't do anything.

Great question Michael Thomas. In most jurisdictions, the certification helps ensure that officers know the fundamentals of being an officer. That includes laws around trespass, detention vs arrest, citizens arrest, retail theft, etc. In some cases, this will include certifications on firearms. The cert should help the officer not to run afoul of the law. The training that the officer receives from the company is a completely different set of training. Self-defense, pepper spray, verbal judo, etc is what each individual company will provide to their employees. In many cases, clients will request that the officer does not intervene in any crime or the company might have policies about going hands-on. That is usually what dictates what happens if the officer needs to act.

Yes you will, but many providers have a “startup” monthly payment amount so it’s not a huge drain on your cash flow.

The simplest thing to do is to use LegalZoom.com or Incfile.com. Beyond that, there are a lot of attorneys that have a standard fee that they charge for setting you up. Usually a few hundred dollars.

Great question Tyrone, there really is no average cost. It is going to depend on the company, history, time in business etc. You'll have to contact a broker to get any actual quotes. Sorry I couldn't be anymore helpful.

Hi Walter Reed, everything is harder in CA. The regulations in CA are probably tougher than anywhere else in the country. Keep in mind, there are PLENTY of security guard companies in CA that do it successfully.

It’s not a matter of should, but what’s optimal for the resources that you have. If you have the financial resources to get a lawyer to do it, then it saves you the time. If there is something else that you could do with those dollars, then not.
