Shankarji ko sadar pranam. In spite of being the best duo of music directors, he is so simple and humble . Truly a great person and a jewel of India . I am his all time fan .👏👏👏
My favorite music directors They are legends and legends never die Their songs always remind them An urdu poet has rightly wrote; Zameen kha gai aasman kaise kaise😥
Its the one part of the picture.....2nd part is more ugly & heart broken...what happened after jaikishan....what raj kapoor did with shankar ji....u should know....
The most unfortunate music directors shanker jaikishan could not get Dada saheb palke award . Their songs are still more popular as on date . No music director has produced so many popular songs as produced by SJ in Bollywood. Their remuneration was the highest in 50s and 60s .
@shankar lal, There are innumerable instances of injustices meted out to legends. Kishore sahab was never "decorated" with any Padma awards, Rafi sahab only got a padma shri. Does that lessen their popularity or stature?
@@mrutyunjaypatra7700 , two useless awards? How often do you hear the songs of the other nominees? During their time, SJ won the highest number of nominations and awards, often competing against themselves. Hence, Shankar requested Filmfare to remove their name from contention to give opportunity to others.
The incomparable and most versatile musical duo to have graced the Indian film industry. It is their work that brought out the best work from all their competitors making their era the best in Indian music.
I have been to his music room with grand piano at Mahalakshmi Studio many times in 1982-83, we used to talk for hours and those memories are as live as that of yesterday's.
Such a great soul Shankarji, who treated Jaikishanji as his younger brother. A team 100% dedicated to melodious music. May God rest their souls in peace in ' Swarga '.
Kapoor Bros Fan ! K, I would encourage you to join a Facebook group dedicated to Shankar Jaikishan. Shanker-Jaikishen: The Emperors of Hindi Film Music
Raj Kapoor was no doubt a sole Showman of Bollywood and no one can match his film making talent. SJ contributed had hugely to RK banner. But post Jaikishan demise RK completely abandoned Shankar at a time when he needed his support. RK should have given a chance to Shankarji in his later movies and may be he would have revived and Shankar composed numerous melodies after Jaikishan too.
wo daur hi aisa tha jab 1949 me ek chamatkar jaisa hua aur shankar jaikishan ki entry hue Bollywood music industry me. Shankar jaikishan ki barsat me kissi ka bhi thehrana jaise possible nahi tha. There after shankar jaikishan and their team mainly shailendra, hasrat, Sébastien, Dutta ram and many others permanent associate keep establishing their authority time and again that they are the now force to reckon with and their music stands fifty years ahead of their rest of the compitators, soon after barsat. Shankar jaikishan were writting the new rule of orchestra and composition, for remaining MD have left with two options, either follow them or perished. The monotonous and orthodox style of classical music all of sudden becomes old fashioned and new India was prepared to embrace the refreshing and breezy new sensation named shankar jaikishan with open arms. The socialism, shailendra, rajkaapur with shankar jaikishan composition were not only complimenting each other but become guarantee for success of any film . This team rajkaapur was not became very popular in newly independent India but the war torn world as well particularly in Russia lead communist block countries starting from China, cheezchaslwakia, Romania, China, Bulgaria, polland and last but not least the USSR. Every where you can listen 'awara hu' or mera joota he Japani'. And and this grand magical streak continues uptill the untimely and sad demise of jaikishan. I can safely infer my writing by saying that 'bade gaur se sun raha tha zamaana tumhi so gaye meharvaan kahte kahte'but shankar jaikishan and their creation will be remembered by one and all forever. Long live team and music of shankar jaikishan. Sochta hu kya likhu aur chodu but for me Shankar jaikishan means adbhut, advitiya, shaandar, shankar jaikishan means Simply superb,SJ means beyond comparision and Shankar Jaikishan means all time great na bhoota na bhavishyati.
Problem yeh hain Bollywood me, ke shuruwaad se khan log ko aage kiye gaye hain. Agar aap woh log se pujhoge to woh log bolega, Naushad is the best. Singer me khan log kabhi nahi bolega KL Saigal ke bare me.
The Top Music Directors Shanker Jaikishen. Their work from Barsat, Awara, Aah, Bootpolish, Anadi, Ji desh mein, Sangam, Sapno ma saudaagar, Deewana and more for Raj Kapoor speak volumes. Many immortal magical melodies for Shammi Kapoor and Rajendra Kumar with Dev Anand,Joy Mukherjee and more are superb. Their work in the 50s in Poonam, Aurat, Patita, Daag, Yahudi ,Badal is top notch. God Bless SJ and the whole team.
As a Musician, I learnt so much from this Interview. He gave so much of wisom through his words. His music is immortal, we are blessed that we witnessed someone as great as him in our Indian Music Industry.
Shankar Jaikishen music was magic and their fans were mesmerised by the lilt for life.Variety is another name big way for their compositions.May their souls rest in peace.Amen. Parvez Khan.An ardent fan in USA.
Shankar ji was so talented that even though he heard the Nina Fredrick Song Sukoo Sukoo ,he didn't exactly copy the tune note by note rather he composed his own original tune which was written by legendary Shailendraji which was Aai Aai A Karon Mein Kya Sukoo Sukoo 🙏🙏.Not only that he was so much fond of Legendary Mohammed Rafi that when Rafi Saab passed away he gave such a beautiful tribute when he Said Rafi Miya to chale Gaye lekin radio mein kyuon unkey dard bharey Ganey bajaye ja rahe Hain agar bajana hai to unke masti bhare ya romantic bhare gane bajaya Jaye ,ab to bas Zindagi bhar Rona hi Rona Hai.
@@sk.masumminhajhossain2427 I read about Rafi Saab's tribute by Legendary Shanker ji way back in 1989 on the back side of Song book of Legendary Mohammed Rafi in Hindi. The title of the book was Mohammed Rafi ke dard bharey Naghme
S.J not a musician but magician of all time .Unhone 75 yr. ho gaye lekin aaj bhi toro taza hai unka sangit. R.K ne laya bahut badia doon banaye lekin badme Shammi Rajendra Kr. Joy M. Dev Shashi Manoj Kr. & many more sabke liye bahut mehnat se surili dhoon banye aur amar bana diya.Mera all time No.1 S.J. Then O.P then S.D.I am 75.I have seen LIVE Rafi saab to sing evergreen Junglee song.Thanks.
SJ were the best MD in the Bollywood. Their unique style of orchestration made them unmatchable. They were the most successful MD in their time. They created excellent music of all kind. They knew how to make best use of heavy orchestration without compromising the quality of the music. Many MDs used to follow his style. In my opinion they introduced their own style of making best use of various instruments such as Accordion, Piano, violin(in chorus style) etc. Undoubtedly, they were the best.
You can not say them best MD, yah they were most succesful music director and one of the best music directors. Because there are many like OP Nayyar, RD Burman etc who have more melodious music than them. Calling them best would be unfair with others who have same quality of music.
@@thegame9192It's my personal choice. Everyone has his own liking. S. D. Burman, Naushad Ali, Salil Chaudhary, O. P. Nayyar, Madan Mohan, Chitragupta, Ravi and their contemporary MDs were all genius in their own rights. They all together enriched the Golden Era of Indian Cinema Music 🎶. But in my opinion, what makes the SJ great was their creating all genres of music... be it classical, western, Jazz, folk, etc with such ease that very high quality in every type of their music is maintained. I don't find any other MD with the abilities to create such a vast variety of music with such high quality. That era has already come to an end. Very sorry to say that now, music is lacking melody... again, it's my personal opinion.
@@thegame9192 no sir, Shankar jaikishan was the most versatile md because they composed pure classical music like lapak jhapak, jhanak jhanak etc. No other music director in that time was not close to them. SJ used to charge per film 5-10 lakhs in that time while SD Burman, RD Burman, op nayyar used to charge 30-50k. Sj got 9 filmfare awards. So, don't compare them with other it's unfair. They are legend
Frankly all these old MD were Xllbt Bcz of their knowledge on Classical Music ...Naushad Ali,SJ,Salil Choudhury, OP Nayaar,Madan Mohan, SD Burman ...all And SJ should b credited 2 brought Symphony 2 Indian Film Music ,Look at Salil Choudhury ,SD Burman,Madan Mohan music ...Frankly I don't compare...They all have created what ..Even if we r listening and Enjoying in after 60 yrs ..Cheers
Just a Padmshree award is nothing for these geniuses. They deserve atleast Dada Sahab Phalke award. If they giving it otherBollywood artists then why not to those really deserve it.
Filmy duniya main sabse zyada injustice Suman Kalyanpurji ke saath hua aur Shankarji Jaikishanji ne Suman Kalyanpurji ke saath purjor Justice kiya.Yahi baat Lataji ko khatkati thi ki S.J. Sumanji ko chance dete the.Bhagwaan Shankarji Jaikishanji ki Atma ko Perfect Peace den .Om Om Om.....
Greatest human beings S J . Had knowledge of all types of music .yet simple and down to earth with mutual respect to each other and with fellow MDs Provided chances to new talents and boldly experimented new concepts.
A simple plain hearted self made man who ruled the roost for decades, fell in the trap of conspirators of Bollywood . They never defeated on the basis of work quality but for the non musical reasons. He was ill treated particularly after the sudden demise of Jaikishan in 1971by thankless Bollywood industry because of his straight forwardness. he could never become sycophant of the so called Kings and Queens of Bollywood music industry.he honned extra ordinary competence in music but relatively he was not up to the mark in PR skills and this poor man paid heavy price for it. The time was changing very fast in mid sixties, the competition was very high with new comers . The most famous female play back singer made him to bear the burnt and stopped singing for SJ . She was annoyed because shankar dare to give chance to new comers in playback singing . Adding insult to the injury proved the untimely death of shankars all time lieutenant shailendra and Jaikishan with in couple of years. He never could recovered from all these big jolts. After 1971 he lost the interest and stop working almost for 3 years. He try to restart his second inning in 1974 with garam khoon, do jhooth and in 1975 Sanyaasi but by now LP, KA, RDB occupied the center staged. All of the famous production house changed their loaylaties including their godfather rajkapoor. As a result now very less left for the great old lion shankar ji. Still sohanlal kanwar stand solidly behind him but Sanyaasi(all the songs based on raag bhairvi )was the last jublie hit on shankars name just to prove that he still knows his job. Had he given the fair chance we would have enjoyed much more quality music of shankar ji but the Bollywood politics deprived us from the great music of shankar ji, no other producers could gather the courage to engage shankar ji taking risk of annoying lata mangeskar. Anyway still we enjoy the fabulous work done by the great musical duo Shankar Jaikishan and relish. It is always a treat to listen shankar Jaikishan composition.long live SJ music forever.
Sad that the very singer to whom he gave a break, proved to be the wrecker of his music career at at time when he needed the support most. Raj kapoor ji gave him a break but also finished SJ career by switching to LP at a time when SJ needed RK support very much. This is Bollywood.
Conspiracy is everywhere not just in bollywood, it is in every family. The only composer who transpired through the time and became timeless was RDB and even he was ill treated by his own friends for eg DevAnand, Sippy, Nassir Hussain son. But look now the only songs being played on FM,radio, by todays generation is of RDB. All those composers like Kalyan Ananand and Shankar JK were good in there time era but they were limited to there era, they cont keep up with change of time where as RDB could see what future generation would want and dint fear in trying new experiments. He succeeded in the begining but was shelved by bollywood and music companies in 90s who cont share the same vision as of RDB, and thus left RDB alone. Thanks to Vidhu Vinod who belived in RDB talent and came up with swansong of RDB with the movie 1942 a love story.
@@yoyodubey6607 bro by observing n seen through the present day downward spill & fall of bollywood music we should praise all music composers of Yesteryears rather than praising just one RDB as there is no doubt he was superb music composer so was others too therefore we should praise all veteran legendary musicians like OP nayar SJ SDB RDB KA LP & their mind blowing musical contributions from 50s to late 80s era of bollywood & even i have lots of respect n praise for all 90s to early 20s era music composers of bollywood especially when we listen to the present day pathetic bullshit lower standard musical numbers it seems like a complete demise of bollywood music as it has been a more than 2 decade going to pass by now but still there is still not a even single bollywood number has came to enjoy n remembered for as has been the case of earlier bollywood era Music therefore for this Catastrophic demise of bollywood music entire bollywood big wigs must share the blame for this debacle as they haven't provided opportunity to the right peoples at right periods of their respective times rather they played political grouping within bollywood & played proxies preferences of their own choices but in the end entire bollywood have been paying a huge price for this nonsense grouping and as a result of this Bollywood music became its first casualty so was music lyrics but now entire bollywood industry is in big mess of debacle & struggling for survival as in the present day of information age of Internet there are so many others mode of entertainment options is already available in plenty so no one now just dependent on present day shitty bollywood music & it's movies for amusement/entertainment hence this low standard shitty bollywood industry deserve to be perished once for all for the betterment of the all
@@MrJParthasarathy Raj Kapoor just could not compromise with his films. See, he hardly ever used his own brothers for his films. Moreover, RK was also very strict with his castings. In film 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' Mandakini gets more footage than his son Rajiv Kapoor. In Bobby, Dimple Kapadia and Premnath and Pran dominate the film-not Rishi Kapoor. Hence, with the demise of Jaikishan in 1971, RK knew that Shanker alone would only be HALF of the team called SK. He just HAD to switch to LP and RD Burman and Ravindra Jain etc.-NOT that he was HAPPY about it. He just HAD to. TRIVIA: I was 11 years old in 1971 and already an ardent fan of SK, thanks to the radio (All India Radio/Binaca Geet Mala etc.). I was waiting at a doctor's clinic to get treatment for a dog-bite when I chanced upon an English newspaper citing news "Jaikishan Died". The news affected me more severely than the dog-bite had. When the doctor gave me the injection I started to cry. Everyone thought that the injection was very painful: and I NEVER told them that I was crying for Jaikishan ji, not from the pain inflicted by that goddamn injection.
The most accomplished versatile iconoclastic and at last emperor of music magician and once highly paid music🎤🎼🎹🎶 is telling callous truth of Indian music. One of pillars RK was deserted by his own master and one who established nasal velvet voice in Indian film industry after K. L Saigal is telling his own bitter experience. Every good thing finally comes to end but sometime at tragic end. But his immortal song's sweetness will always serve to us and also to our coming generation.
Great upload - thanks - wonderful person - nostalgic interview - so much to learn about them - still so much more to know - if anyone has anything like this please do share! Shankar Jaikishan gives us an innate happiness - long live their music!

I totally disagree. RK was an out and out selfish person he used his father's stature and izzat to take him forward, it is wrong to say he did not use his brothers, one of his brothers Shashi Kapoor appeared in Awara, his two brothers Shammi and Shashi had given many memorable performances at times much better than any RK film so your this logic also does not stand the rationality or reason. In the matter of royalty and his fight with LM he made it very clear that he was there for money and money alone. His edifice stood on the solid foundations laid by SJ music. As an ardent SJ fan I feel very sad over the treachery and extreme selfishness exhibited this self seeker particularly at a time when he needed it most after a colossal loss of his partner cum brother cum friend. The people who had spent their long sleepless nights so that they could give a dreamy musical sequences to his films but alas he let Shankar sahib down. Earlier the same person had let down Shailendra also when he kept delaying the Teesri Kasam project because he felt its early completion will jeopardise commercial success of SANGAM. With due apologies sir I would humbly suggest to change your ID from VoiceOf Reason to VoiceOf Unreasonableness.
Miss Him dearly...miss this great man.....obviously Both Shankar and Jaikishan were equally talented....only thing was Jaiskishan was more luckier than Shankar singh....Unfortunately Shankar Singh was very Unlucky.....Amazing was Mr. Shankar died in 1987 ...not getting enough good films...so was Naushad ali...so was O.P. Nayyar...Khayyam....ironically the decline of Golden Age of Music of Indian Cinema.
