Thank you so much. My puppy had eaten the cables of 2 satellites, so I was forced to change it. Now everything is better than before, after 2 decades the wires were parched and harder.
I have 2 black ones from a 5.1 system, only ones that are left, so decided to build a portable bluetooth speaker with the drivers inside and couldn't figure out how to get the mesh off. What I found was that the mesh was also glued in and I had a time getting it off. I had to thread a pin through the tiny holes on a corner, grab the end with pliers to pull the rest of the pin through then take hold of both ends and pull quite hard to eventually get the mesh off so as to release the speakers from their wee cabinets.
I have a modern Logitech Z533.. the base speaker is too weak, i changed that, and the sat speakers sound tweety.. I got Creative THX for very low money (because the sub and the electronic died soon, so people sell the speaker for low) and I got 2 of these Cambridge soundwork cubes for 5 bucks (with that easter egg sub :D .. Damn they are soooo much better then the included stereo speakers of the Z533.. The Z533 is actually on sale all over the place for 25, 30 buck.. people want to get rid of it.. I will now search for better condition soundwork cubes, because mine are a bit yellow.. Or I get the black ones.. With the chinch cables you can just plug them into the Z533.. cables are really long.. they are so good.. Very nice stereo stage because of single speaker design.. those suckers can go load.. the sub of the 533 is holding the system back.. crazy..
Yeah I think in black colour they look better and dont degrade in colour.. :D It is really a shame what trash they sell today.. Cambridge Soundworks where ahead of time and built incredible speakers.. 1997 they where bought from Creative.. and it the party was soon over.. Just look at Creative what speakers they have.. Cratos 2.1 System wtf.. You can see that the built quality is shitty.. de.creative.com/p/speakers/sound-blasterx-kratos-s3
I tell ya.. all that 80s, 90s stuff, also plasma television that stuff was built like a tank and will be very expensive in 20 years when young rich kids want the golden age electronics..
I was basically reaching for my Dremel when i realized none of my screwdrivers had the specs to unscrew those ¨screws¨.. ! Your video saved my 15 year old speakers, which I have grown quite found of during the ages! :) Do you take tear-down request in general?! :)
Many thanks for making this video, no more scratching my head looking for a non-damaging point of entry for me. 😎 I'd found my four satellites along with the volume cable/pot in a trunk in -the darkest depths of hell- my garage but the sub/amp, PSU and the stands/feet have gone walkabout. It's a shame because I remember it being a cracking little 4.1 setup for the PC. 😟 If you're still around to read this, can I ask you a quick question about these? How do you reckon they'd sound if I wired them in series, chucked 'em in a 3d-printed whatchamacallit-thingamajig that I'm yet to design, driven by an el cheapo AliExpress stereo with BT, and powered by either a large capacity LiPo cell or a bunch of 18650's? Too wimpy without the sub, maybe? 🤔 Any info would be much appreciated. Cheers, ears.
You're welcome! Anyway I think these must have a sub if you really wanna hear bass frequencies. These are too little to produce any kind of bass frequencies. I would include the sub like DIYPerks did (he did a custom 2.1 Bluetooth speaker using these same drivers)
Interesting.. in my model there is a bit of a different speaker. The speaker has the same size but is 100% square to the corners.. the speaker itself should be a 2,5 inch speaker. The cone is 60mm in diameter and the speaker grill has max 68mm.. In my speaker it is a 4Ohm 10watt speaker, and the box was stuffed with damping material..
You can open them and stuff some damping stuff into it.. :D damping material slows the reflecting soundwaves and increases the volume space of the box.. :D
You lucky, can be useful to replace a broken old speaker. a spare set to not toss a whole set . select the full working parts and make them available on ebay at low price. A fast shipment tracked and in a day i'll can have from england to italy ,i would buy something. think about.
I just ordered the wavemaster moody 2.1 system.. I was looking for an adjustable 2.1 system, but it is very hard to find.. the cheap ones, dont even have sub volume control, the older systems have external power bricks and good condition is hard to find. Really good is Creative 2400 2.1.. it is the successor of the legendary cambridge SW320. But they are 10 to 15 years old.. They have dedicated speaker outputs with chinch, so you can hook up different speakers.. The wavemaster moody has also dedicated speaker outputs and base and treble controle so there is some progress in adjustability.. I will check the cambridge soundworks sat speakers with that system.. Sadly you get almost nothing it built quality of the legendary cambridge soundworks 2.1 system.. images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51CQ46NHHHL.jpg
Just look at the trash they are selling right now.. 250 euros.. that is insane.. www.logitechg.com/de-at/product/g560-rgb-gaming-speakers?crid=1454 but it has fancy rgb lighting.. WTF that is the price of the legendary Cambridge SW320 2.1 50 Euros.. Millenials are screwed over and they have no clue that they are buying crap.. geizhals.eu/?phist=10847
I mean.. who invented these new logitech speakers? a women? It looks like shit.. also they dont show the back, what are the connections.. its a joke.. but look at this.. Wavemaster.. everything you need to know.. www.wavemaster.eu/wp-content/uploads/MOODY_SW-neu_1250x766.png
Large case.. 5 inch woofer.. I will check what is inside and stuff it with damping material.. check the port.. you can tune any sub port.. the longer you make it.. the lower the sub goes.. but a bit less volume.. Mostly it sounds better, because those subs are tuned to loudness on a higher frequency..
