The combined legs are way better proportioned than if they just did a thigh extension. They could have just had the thighs extend and call it a day, but they went and had a shin extension instead. That's really clever.
As much of a fan of Armada and inspired designs as I am, sliders and spindly linkages (especially 6dof linkages like here for the cockpit) are some of my biggest pet peeves in transforming robot engineering. I find they make for fiddly and unsatisfying conversions. FH always seems to use an excessive amount of both, which actually had me sell Naval Commander. Seeing Crossload and Sky Flame continue the trend has me glad I did, because I can just tell from the video I wouldn't find them fun to handle. Really hoping to see HasTak continue their take and attempt the other two designs in the set. Seeing Tidal Wave come out for Megatron gives me hope.
That’s fair. I think Sky Flame does a pretty good job of it, it’s not nearly as fiddly in actual play as it may come across trying to transform on video. But I also would really like to see modern official takes come out as well.
Would you believe the batteries in my Armada Jetfire still work since I got him in 2003? I wonder when they'll announce official remakes of Jetfire and Overload.
Once you get it all locked together it's pretty secure, and it's easier to lock it all when not transforming from behind a camera. It CAN be easy to collapse the hips up into the body if you grab it oddly while posing in robot mode, but it doesn't collapse under its own weight or anything, you'd have to do it intentionally.
I'd expect they'd need at least a Leader+ budget. At least Jetfire since he'll need to support Optimus and Overload. I could see them doing a Commander class with pack-in minicons. Maybe Jetfire, comettor and one of the weapon sets?
Looks pretty good in super mode. Can't get over how rough primes torso looks in regular mode though. Wish they would've just modeled after his look in the ps2 game. Think the legacy looks better there.
Wish I could agree with you on it being a good standalone figure. But right as I was transforming the foot and you mentioned it was made of transparent plastic, *SNAP* the foot broke at that part. Must've gotten a terrible copy, because the head was too tight and couldn't slide down into the chest before it flew off, along with the piece that was supposed to be a filler. Now piece's gone (at least the head was re-attachable). FML (Just had to vent about it)
Awesome ^^ I only have the Legacy Armada Prime, so hoping for Armada Skyfire to give him the space pants! XD Also, if you have both sets of legs, I want to see if you can make a 'Centaur Prime' XD
