"In case you thought Shankland was good, Tal was the best. And in case you thought Shankland was 2nd best, Tal was also second best. So there you have it."
'samuel shankland or sam shankland yea I believe sam shankland is his full name it's not like short for samuel but I will have to check I'm pretty sure it's sam shankland' resigned the game. damn that's a long ass name for a chess GM
Mikhail Tal in 1973-74 - 95 games (46 wins & 49 draws) Vladimir Malakhov during 2015-2017 - 93 games (37 wins & 56 draws) Mikhail Tal in 1972-73 - 86 games (47 wins & 39 draws) - Wiki's "List_of_world_records_in_chess"
Quite so. In that one period of time he won more than he drew, on average. Incredible. Given that Tal's 1st & 3rd place records were in back-to-back periods of time (72-73 & 73-74), Tal had one heck of a run from '72 to '74. Tal was a genius and we all appreciate him more thanks to Agadmator.
Mikhail Tal may have the record for consecutive games without a loss (95), but in modern times, Bobby Fischer holds the record for consecutive wins (20), which will no doubt be part of the vast knowledge that we are to be gaining in the series that Agad is presenting. Both records are most excellently.
The thing I like about agadmator's Chess Channel is that he pronounces the names of Asians (especially Indian ) players rightly, unlike those western Europeans and American commentators And yes it really matters if someone pronounces your name correctly.
Sentinel Returns Please visit a doctor , I don't think you are all right . You should very carefully use the words. It reflects your character. Though i have just suggested something and there is nothing wrong with it , if the owner of this channel feel like a good suggestion then he will take it into consideration otherwise he will politely reject my suggestion .
7:08 -- While the engine has White up a point and half in this position, it's actually drawiish if Black can manage not to panic and just keep his $hit together until a move-by-repetition occurs, or he can capitalize on a blunder. So long as White is prevented from taking pawns, he can draw, and so long as the board remains crowded, his knights are better than the bishops. Therefore, Qe8 is the best move here. Either the White queen is driven back, or both come off the board (freeing up both Black knights to roam). Qe8, Qb7, Nfg8 (only now), g4, fxg4, hxg4, Qd8, Qb6, Qa8 (repeating), ...and there is nothing for White to do: the bishop on a6 must remain there to plug the file (to keep the Black queen off White's back ranks, and White's queen must guard the bishop. The engine has lost enthusiasm, and rates the position only ~+0.6ish.
Interesting game. A long time ago, I remember playing a few people who would push their pawn chain up in a similar way and I never knew how to break through. It seems you need a little patience and maneuver your pieces to the proper location. What to do with the Bishop was also a teachable moment. I always get nervous moving the same piece that many times.
Not any more for 2nd place, just checked wikipedia: 2nd place is Vladimir Malakhov during 2015-2017 - 93 games (37 wins & 56 draws), Tal is on 1st & 3rd place now!!!
I am not a chess player but I like to watch chess, more specifically your channel I watch each and every video you post. I like your attitude, it's very straight forward. I like the variations you show and its implications, and then continuing to the game the transition is very smooth I never get confused. Today I am happy about myself that I see applying chess in my real life. What is important, what things to let go, what will happen if I do this I almost calculate variations and see if I am in profit if I take certain step. Before I was stuck in the (web) nothing was moving forward, but now I have answers. Thank you soo much for showing your perspective on RU-vid. Your video makes me happy
In the picture you show before the game starts, I notice that the game queens are still on the board. Why are there two more queens in front of the clock (as we look at the picture)?
Shame, it seems like perhaps Shankland went a bit passive with Kg6, I thought his intention of moving his King to the Kingside was to facilitate g7-g5? Maybe the potential of a pin was something he didn't consider, but it would be interesting to know if this is the reason, because it seemed better than the continuation played in the game.
you can go here and get checkmated in 6 moves or you can go here and get checkmated in 1. So if you have this option, make it a nice one.............hehe. This gave me a good laugh
" And it was in this position that-Samua-Shankland,-or-Sam-Shankland,-yea-iibelieve-Sam-Shankland-is-his-full-name-it's-not-like-short-for-Samual,-but-i-will-have-to-check,-i'm-pretty-sure-it's-Sam-Shankland,-resigned the game. " lol
Indians have the most underated players in the world from my experience. After than former Soviet nations are quite hard, as well as some nations in the Middle East and China. Most of the rest of the world have Normal ratings but the nations/region I mentioned above are very competitive. In India a 1300 is like a 1500 in most places of the world.
Narrowc ross that's because of fewer tournaments we play and high competitive spirit at all levels of chess. I remember a tournament for under 1600 had players who prepared like titled players
Please stop with spoiling the result of the match in the title! For example, "Vidit Gujrathi Takes ON Captain America" or "Can Vidit Gujrathi Take ON Captain America?" would be much better
