All of us service members have a love-hate relationship with the Armed Forces. We tell everyone else not to join, but we will do it again in a heartbeat.
@@aprilmason1616 Why? Because there is no greater feeling of community. There’s a lot of opportunities as well. But leadership (espeically on the officer side that weren’t enlisted first) is fuckin shit. 98% of them are nothing but politicians doing anything they can to pad their OERs in order to go to school and promoted. It’s a short list. And the padding is done by making the enlisted do some extremely stupid shit. It’s why majority of people get out after four years, hate the military system but absolutely miss their brothers and sisters.
@@aprilmason1616 there is no greater feeling than putting your fellow countrymen behind you and saying “stay there I’ve got this”. The camaraderie, the sense of belonging, and the true bonds that we forged during our service is bad none. Where the issue lies is when we look back on what we were involved in, either directly or indirectly, and we notice minimal if any positive tangible change, the main question is always “what was it all for?”. We would lovingly go back in and be with our brothers and sisters again, it’s just the nature of what we did for the past 20 years is still murky. Semper

@@shadowoflight1436 your way of talking tells me you never served in the military yourself. Young people tend to idolize people with weapons. Reality is not what the movies tell you it is.
@@englishparcc1989 You think they had a choice? 😭 Plus as much as they are getting respected for it, they fought to protect their country not to make themselves look good
What oohrah Killing innocents in the name of a false agenda is not bravery. You idiotic creatures armed the Taliban asshole with latest arms. Hooray to the most idiotic act in the millennium 😂
I don’t think he got lost over there…. Pretty sure he’s been back for awhile… But then again, those pow camps did some heinous shit, and there’s undoubtedly still a a few MIA over there…
@@ArminiusSage You always tell Vietnam Veterans “Welcome home” because when they first got back from the war they were basically spit on and hated on… they weren’t looked at as hero’s, so not only did they sacrifice their lives and mental health but they came home to be hated. It took like 50ish years for them to even be recognized for what they did for our freedom. So everytime you thank a Vietnam vet you say “Welcome home” because they weren’t welcomed when they came back.
My dad’s work friend served in Vietnam. He was a helicopter gunner and he fell out of the helicopter into a rice field. They came and picked him up. He had broke his neck and back but just went through the pain. Like twenty years later he finally went to the doctor and got treated. He had also got shot in his butt because someone shot up at the helicopter. Gunners would sit on their helmet to keep that from happening.
@scxrti1942 Yeah that does sound pretty brutal. We always hear what the Vietnamese soldiers would do to our troops but we never hear of what we did to them
Yeah bro, you guys treated Vietnamese like inhuman creatures, buried them alive, took their land, what did you expect, they will welcome you like the Palestinian welcome the Jews to Palestinian 😂😂😂😂 noway in hell
Thank you for your service ! I'm one of the descendants of the ARVN soldiers. We are very grateful to what you did to help us protecting our homeland !
I remember a month ago 2 Vietnam veterans coming to my class to teach us about their experience in war, when they were about to leave that said the best thing u can say to someone who went to the war is “Welcome Home”. They told us that when they came back from war they were they were thrown all kinds of stuff rotten food and worse. To all the Vietnam Veterans, Welcome Home.
The difference between Korea and Vietnam is that the great generation fought in Korea, and the crybaby baby boomers fought in Vietnam. The soldiers weren't the cry babies it was the people at home that became all anti war.
My mom's cousin was in Vietnam. His unit was sleeping in the jungle and in the middle of the night the Vietcong came in cut a guys head off, and left without anyone noticing. When they woke up in the morning they found the guy with his head cut off. None of them were ever right again.
Holy shit… if the VC didn’t kill the rest of them in their sleep then I guess he/she wanted to purposefully intimidate these troops. Brutal… absolutely brutal.
These guys are unique. You have those that are openly proud and talk about it if asked. You have those that choose not to talk about it and have no displays of service and don't want recognition they just want to forget about it. God bless both these groups.
I imagine this dude saved a lot of our guys, both American and Vietnamese. I'm glad we had men like him, but they were never treated like the fucking heroes they were.
My grandpa volunteered before the draft and was lucky enough to get into the supply corps instead of on the frontlines or in active combat. He attributes his foresight to why he’s still here today.
