ArchBishop Vigano is absolutely correct!!! We as Catholics should be committed to the Doctrine & Dogma of the Faith of the Catholics prior to Vatican II. All of our rites were erased & replaced. My great uncle was a priest & he was extremely upset following it. I remember as a child how upset he was! He was also made to retire in his Diocese as were many other priests.

I grew up in the pre-Vatican II era, and I prefer to stay in those days; when Vatican II came along there was nothing but confusion, which tells me Vatican II was wrong, making Bishop Barron wrong, along with all the others who push V-II as absolute truth.

We just started going to TLM after the churches reopened... we have driven over an hour just to attend the TLM... We have only been able to go twice but we love it. I was surprised by how many ppl were in attendance in comparison to our NO church... only 20-30% have returned... I was also impressed by all the young families... large families.... I expected an older crowd of ppl... I was impressed with the joy and love radiating from the congregation... I was impressed by the reverence during mass... Driving home we say why has this been hidden from us... I can’t wait to go back!

When I had been an idealistic youngster I was enthusiastic about Vatican II. It was wonderful to witness the opening of the windows and the letting in of a fresh wind and celebrate a new brotherhood with people of other religions. Today I must sadly admit that I was wrong. The fresh wind did become a desertstorm destroying traditions and values of the holy church of our fathers. Deconstruction has been irreparably damaging the holy mother church and made people leaving in millions.

Revelation is becoming philosophy in these time through our greater understanding of natural law. Since the resurrection there has been a transformation of consciousness through the Holy Spirit. This is what led to true science. The method that has allowed people to understand nature in more defined ways. Unfortunately, deceptive people have misled through media and state sponsored schooling and hidden the truth of our Lord sovereignty. We now see this ambiguity in the churches. This is the insidious evil of Vatican 2. It's a distortion of the truth. Rather than bringing greater clarity as should be in this time, it bring vague, ambiguous assertion with no foundation that stands up to the rigors of evidence and reason. I suspect this was intentional, and is being perpetrated as a means to destroy the faith.

Michael Speyrer what you point out has nothing to do with what was being discussed here in the podcast. You mention defining dogma the podcast mentions interpretation of Teaching versus changing dogma. The latter can not be done as Catholics own submission to all popes and magisterium not just the current one. That’s why we are in the problem we are in. The present pontificate seems to contradict past teaching and won’t clarify the position.

I have started attending Mass everyday. In the beginning of Covid-19 I viewed Mass online because our church was closed. Then Mass was only on Sundays in our gym. I was hesitant to attend Mass but the Eucharist was brought outside to those of us who were fearful and that was wonderful. I guess in my thoughts to God I made a promise that if our vacation in Florida was a success (especially for me) I would start attending daily Mass. I must say though that there is something different, something is missing. Maybe it's an irreverence but everyone who is there because they do love the Lord. I can say one thing that causes me grief. We all know the prayers and our responses in the Mass. People are reciting them; not praying them. I can never keep up. You pray the same way - fast like a speeding bullet. I wish people would just slow down when they pray.

Vigano is right. I was born in 1965 and raised Catholic in Australia. I spent 4 years in a progressive seminary and attended a progressive Theological college for my degree studies ... late 80s and early 90s. We studied the writings of Congar, Kung, Von Balthazar etc. I even remember one lecturer, a priest, saying that "perhaps the Apostles never actually SAW the Risen Jesus. They EXPERIENCED Him as being risen." Very ambiguous language but not knowing any better, I ate it up as did other seminarians. I shiver now thinking about it. I subscribe to your channel Dr Marshall and like a lot of what you say. I'm a daily Rosary man and try to pass on the true faith to my girls 😁👍St Pius X, pray for us.

Vatican II did not "throw out" the doctrines of the past. In fact, it kept the Latin Mass and re-enacted the rights of the Eastern Chruches in regards to their use of their own vestments and traditions. It did introduce the Novus Ordo along side of the Latin Mass. And it did, change Canon Laws. It was in meetings after the council, that modernists distorted what happened in the council and confused the faithful.

Placing the Mass of All Time next to the Novus Ordo Missae and saying they are "equal " is part of the false ecumenism of Vatican II because the Novus Ordo Missae is just a protestant service. The two are not "equal" in any sense. They are totally different. The TLM is God centered while the Novus Ordo Missae is man centered. Lex Orandi, lex credendi. They cannot exist side by side in the same Church.

I doubt that Bishop Barron would not attribute correctly- but I just wonder if this is a sort of “ proof texting”, i.e., from where did this quotation emerge? Citation, date, wider context from which this passage is taken? To me this is essential factor - very important information to understand and to assess in this discussion -I think - what is your opinion? Dr Joan DiGregorio

Dr. Marshall, I agree in the main with what you have to say in this post as in others. I don't wish to defend everything bishop Barron says or fails to say--I am grateful that he has spoken out on important topics when so many of our pastors lack the imagination or the energies to do so. Vatican II was not the next best thing to green cheese. It was a mixed bag, as has been its implementation. But I think we should try harder to see the positive developments that have come from it and that may and should still come. And I would like to suggest a few of the changes I have seen. I am 77 years of age and was born and raised before the Council. Among good things that have happened are especially those which concern some aspects of praxis. E.G., the post-conciliar emphasis on the meaning and importance of the Eucharist has been very significant. It is not new, but continues the very dramatic move against the Jansenism of earlier centuries, and in doing so supports the direction which Pope St. Pius X led the Church. My own parents were raised at a time when many devout lay people didn't dare approach the Eucharist more frequently than once every month, if that frequently. Yes, today we have too many people who may receive the Eucharist unworthily--actually. we are all unworthy--but the Eucharist is a great gift of God, bound up with the very saving acts of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rhank God that frequent reception of the Eucharist is now encouraged. And if the closed church of this pandemic has taught us anything, it is that we need the Eucharist. Televised Masses do not satisfy the deepest longing we have for Communion with God in the Mystical Body. What we also need is frequent and clearer teaching on what the Eucharist is. on why we need it, and on what constitutes proper devotion to the Eucharist. It's true that not all the liturgical changes (in Mass and in the other sacraments) have been particularly valuable or even helpful--that is the subject many book-length discussions. Besides the greater encouragement just noted of devotion to our Eucharistic Lord, there have been other liturgical changes of value. The most dramatic have been in the liturgies of Holy Week, discussed for decades before the Council, and actually begun to be implemented in the 1950s by Pope Pius XIi. Likewise, the changes in the Divine Office (Liturgy of the hours) have been beneficial because they have brought in more readings (the 4-week cycle of the psalms, recited in total, along with a cut back in the number of psalms prayed largely ilas mere individual verses--brief snippets). We have been exposed to more of Sacred Scripture, especially to the Psamls, which has been described as the Prayer book of the Holy Spirit. The changes have enriched this prayer of the Church. Also, before the Council the Office was generally understood as the duty (officium means "duty") to be prayed predominantly by the clergy and some (not all) religious. The encouragement of the post-Conciliar Church to the laity to pray the entire daily Office or at least of parts of the Office frequently, if not daily, has been of enormous spiritual benefit to tens of thousands. Again, what has been lacking has been the teaching and implementation of the Church's intentions in this post-Conciliar periods. There is no doubt that the Church is going through a grievous period in her history, and that there have been great problems since the Council. To charge them all to the council--and that is not what Archbishop Vigano or Bishop Scneider have done--is lopsided. Thank God these two prelates are speaking out as they do. We need more of our bishops and priests to join them. On the other hand. and this precedes the Council by a couple of centuries, we no longer consider it moral or right that one man should own another as a slave, even though St. Paul does not condemn slavery, but encourages slaves to obey their masters. The condemnation of slavery is relatively new in the Church (I think a 15th century pope was the first to condemn the practice). The implications of that change are reflected especially in the writings and encyclical of recent Popes. Given recent historical philosophical movements (especially fascism and communism, but also consumerism, pragmatism, and the whole abortion movement--abortion itself was condemned as early as the first century in the Didache or Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, an ancient Church manual written even before the earliest written Gospels), the need to uphold the dignity of every human life from conception to natural death has been of paramount importance. The same could be said about a far more banal subject--usury, the nature and morality of which has been overlooked at some points in the Church's history (eg now, when there are loan companies, including those offering credit cards, that charge interest rates of over 20% per annum). The contemporary Church seems to have little to say about the impact of usury on the lives of the poor, yet was stoutly condemned at other times. Why are social justice advocates in the church addressing this problem with practical programs?. There were ages and places when working class men could not be ordained priests, but could only serve as lay brothers; so too, women of the lower classes could not become "nuns", but only lay sisters. Vatican Ii put aside those secular customs and standards, and treated every vocation with equalrespect. Vatican II has not been an unmitigated failure. It has problems, to be sure. It also had positive results. I think that focusing on the positives ultimately more productive than simply condemning the negative.

Bishop Barron is falling into the Overton Window paradigm without even realizing it (giving his Excellency the benefit of the doubt). We will continue to see more of this - the "RadTrads" will become more and more "radical" as the window moves along the political spectrum, and those ideas - the ideas of V2 and modernism - which were unthinkable 100 years ago seem more mainstream. Traditional voices have to be loud and visible to move the Window back. so Modernism becomes unthinkable once again.
