I'm so glad my continent has so few SSPX chapels. My country has maybe 3.5 million Catholics and about 8 SSPX priests. As for the rest of the continent. There are Maybe 23 chapels. That is for about 240 million Catholics. So I always laugh when I hear about the supposed rapid growth of the SSPX. Also our countries are growing rapidly faster than the populations of France and USA, which of course are the main hubs of the SSPX.
The Church cannot be in a "State of Necessity", where the SSPX has to step in as a replacement Teaching Authority. If that were true, then the Church has defected. In actuality, the Church has not defected, rather those who claim to have authority [the Novus Ordo "hierarchy"] are defective. There cannot be a replacement TEACHING/DOCTRINAL Authority. The hierarchy/authority of the Church cannot defect from the Faith and still retain authority in the Church. All defectors from the Faith LOSE authority/office, ipso facto, automatically, and without declaration. What the SSPX is doing totally undermines the concept of an authoritative institution, which the Catholic Church is. Imagine what they have to tell Novus Ordites, "Don't follow who we both believe is Pope, follow ME instead!" "You can't go to the "Mass" promulgated by who we both believe is a true Pope, listen to ME instead!" "You taught what Holy Father? Ok, let me go back and make sure that's actually Catholic, before I give my assent."

I am living in Russia and was member of Russian Orthodox Church for 8 years. At some time me with my wife get interested by the Catholic faith, but we were totally disappointed and distracted by novus ordo Mass, although it is served very conservatively in our parish. Thanks to the SSPX and materials published by SSPX and archbishop Lefebvre we were able to understand why our feelings about modernist Mass are such and what is going on with Catholic Church. Now we are attending Armenian Catholic Liturgy at our local parish and praying for the restoration of unbroken tradition of the Church. Deo gratias and thanks to the SSPX which helped us not to lose Catholic faith. 🇻🇦✝️🇷🇺
I met my wife in the SSPX! Many single, young traditional women there looking for a traditiona Catholic man to lead them in faith and life.. Young families there also.. SSPX is definitely growing!
Thats because the sspx will court the men into the priesthood or force marriages where there should not be one. As a single traditional catholic woman, I've come across many sspx married men seeking female companionship outside their marriage as they are miserable with their wives and regret getting married
@@jrlomy2k, you can't blame the SSPX for the faults of some weak men. I've been involved in every conservative TLM faction of the Church for over 40 years. I've never seen anybody being "forced" into marriage or the priesthood at a SSPX church. Our young families are very happy and the number of young people is growing exponentially.
I loved attending TLM and the SSPX Priests are very dedicated, strict (Fatherly figure) and kind. It has been 5 years since i first attend TLM and by the grace of God, my husband converted to Catholic and got baptised recently in January 2023! The TLM community in my country is growing and growing bigger every year! Fallen away Catholic youths have made their way back to the Church because of the dedication of the SSPX Priests. May God bless the SSPX for many more years to come. I am a Catholic from Malaysia.
@@TruLuan The SSPX is a just a shortening of the FSSPX, and the FSSP is a 'splinter group' of the SSPX who left just after Lefebvre consecrated the four bishops.
"So, then, if anyone says that the Roman pontiff has merely an office of supervision and guidance, and not the full and supreme power of jurisdiction over the whole church, and this not only in matters of faith and morals, but also in those which concern the discipline and government of the church dispersed throughout the whole world; or that he has only the principal part, but not the absolute fullness, of this supreme power; or that this power of his is not ordinary and immediate both over all and each of the churches and over all and each of the pastors and faithful: let him be anathema." - Vatican Council I

@@GiharuSiPerempuanGunung All that SSPX does is consistent with Catholic belief "from the beginning." Rome, Vatican 2 and the Novus Ordo cannot make this claim.
they closed our TLM in our diocese. Went to my first SSPX. Thank you thank you thank you. Y'all are an answered prayer for so many families. God Bless the SSPX!
Our youngest son doesn’t attend the Novis Ordo Mass and that makes us as parents very sad! He works on the ship and when in port will attend the Mass celebrated the SSPX. Because of the distance involve we don’t attend as often as we would like. 2023 was the first opportunity after 30/40yrs, we attended all the services of Holy Week celebrated by a SSPX priest. I cried and could not believe what we have lost with the modernising of our Catholic Faith! TODAY WE SHOP AROUND THE DIOCESE TO FIND A REVERENT PRIEST WHO CELEBRATES AND TREAT THE BLESSED SACRAMENT RESPECTFULLY! Our two older children have lost their Catholic Faith. One says he doesn’t believe any longer and the other have joined a Pentecostal church and no longer has any devotion or believe in Mary Our Mother to the extent of not mentioning her name. Please pray for my family.
I’m a member and I’m grateful fir the SSPX. During the “lockdown” in the Novus Ordo parish one could not receive the Eucharist on the tongue and forced mask wearing. They discriminated with seating sections for vaxed and unvaxed faithful. I’m never looking back. Deo gratias!
Absolutely. Now those same priests who were hiding behind masks and hand sanitizer and wouldn’t come close or talk to you, are now acting like it didn’t happen. They’re preaching about being bold in the face of government overreach and the like. Their words are hollow after their shameful behavior. Only our tiny SSPX chapel was not requiring masks and still giving communion on the tongue. They were actually concerned about the destination of our souls than afraid of some virus. Never looking back either.
You'd rather go in schism from Rome and the Catholic Church because of masks and vaxed? Keep finding ludicrous argument to justify your participation in the hurting of the Body of Christ.
Praise God for the presence of the SSPX. I left the Holy Roman Catholic Church in the early 1980's and 🎼"Did It My Way"🎵 for nearly forty years within different Protestant denominations. I married outside The Church, raised my three children as Protestants within a mega church and it was only about fifteen months after my wife died (with carcinoma) that I had a crisis of conscience. I spent five days in January 2022, crying off and on for my incredibly dark past. I spoke with my neighbour who arranged an appointment for a General Confession in February 2022 at the SSPX in Winnipeg. It took 45 minutes with an ocean of tears to complete. After I thanked the priest I thought to myself "Why not attend this Parish?" I have been attending there ever since and happily support it with my tithes and offerings. The SSPX saved my life; it has VERY holy priests who take the salvation of souls seriously. I am far from perfect mind you but have experienced victory in areas of my life that I used to believe were impossible to attain. To God be The Glory for the presence of the SSPX!!! Velox Versutus Vigilans
Deo gratias for the SSPX!!! Time and circumstances have only vindicated the work of St. Marcel Lefebvre & the SSPX!!! The time has come to ordain more auxiliary bishops to help in the restoration of the Church.
It's been a couple of weeks since a friend shared this talk with me and I just finished listening to it now. It is absolutely well worth the effort and time it takes. I believe that this is a talk that should be shared with the faithful who are struggling to remain Catholic in the Novus ordo wing of the church so to speak.
I don't go to an SSPX chapel, but I'm grateful to the SSPX for paving the way for every other Latin Mass community. When I look at the consequences of Lefebvre's actions, they've been a positive for the church and for the faithful.
Great Q & A. Fr. Sherry is eloquent and honest. My wife and I attend an SSPX chapel and finally feel at home in the Faith. Let's pray for a good end to the current crisis.
We are here to protect the Catholic church and it's traditional teaching and salvation of the soul and true Church of Christ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ From Sspx Africa Nigeria St Puis Chapel Onitsha Anambra state.
Met a lot of Irish people, good and bad. Ireland is the land of saints and scholars. Here's an Irishman who lives up to that standard. Optime! Erin go bragh!
I am old enough to have grown up with the traditional Latin Mass. Finding the SSPX and the Latin Mass on line is a blessing as there is no Catholic Church in this village I have difficulty driving to the city as I am 89 and I feel I am a danger on the road.
SSPX is the reason I came back to catholicism. The v2 people gave me a really bad impression of the church and I stopped going because of a lot of the "apologists" on youtube who are big v2 supporters basically are liberals who quite honestly say subversive things, even if their intent may be noble. It's refreshing to see that the beautiful tradition I see when I read some of the great saints and scholars of the church has been preserved by the SSPX. It gives me hope.
Beautiful portrait of the great St Thomas More behind this good and Holy Priest......enough said.....I'm completely on board.....trouble is....my nearest SSPX Chapel is an hour and a half train journey away..... God Bless from the 🇬🇧 UK
I wanted to go to a traditional mass and when I met the SSPX, I cried a lot and I only felt at home, I got tired of seeing the irreverence in the novus ordo masses, I lost friends because they do not agree with society. I am going through a difficult process, please pray for me. God bless the SSPX.❤
I am praying for you ❤️ 🙏, you are doing the right thing ,know ,that at the end it's about the salvation of our souls.✝️🙏✝️💜God will reward and support you,and our Mother,Mary most Holy will intercede for you, if you ask her. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Fr. David Sherry. The FSSPX are the Church. I had the privilege of serving his first Mass in Wimbledon in 2007 I gather he will be the new superior of the Society in England soon and I wish him all the best.
Thank you, Father Sherry, for your excellent presentation. Hope this helps all those who need to catch up. You have the patience of a saint! Two and a half hours explaining in detail those things that you have doubtless explained countless times before.
A consideration of Lefebvre's disobedience: he was a bishop, not a diocesan priest. He had apostolic authority that great men like Padre Pio did not have.
He had an apostolic responsibility to ensure the Faith of our Fathers was carried on, from the very words of Jesus Christ himself.., so not just a level of authority of a bishop, but a requirement to fulfill everything he could to pass on what he had been taught...
Arch Bishop Lefebver would disagree that he had apostolic authority. A bishop must have ordinary jurisdiction to have authority. Plus that argument actually harms the SSPX. If one argues authority, one finds it in the bishops and the Pope all of them disagree with the various positions the sspx holds .
God bless you. I live in Italy and I attend the Vetus Ordo mass. I think that the SSPX will remain the only available choice for us after the Bergoglio-driven devastation of Summorum Pontificum.
If you can't realistically relocate, e.g., because of your job, go to an SSPX chapel once a month or so. Remember, in the Recusant era, Catholics in England could only attend mass when a wandering priest stopped by.
@@johnpaultheresaattard2916 Carefully read my original post. I recognize that there is a gap between Rome and SSPX. When Rome again practices Catholic orthodoxy they will issue a simple decree that fully recognizes the Priestly Society established by the Saintly Archbishop Lefebvre. SSPX will be accorded a status like FSSP. True Catholics should flock to SSPX. Vast numbers of traditional Catholics will not be ignored by Rome.
There is no SSPX within a two hours drive of my location in any direction. I live next door to the rectory of a Novus Ordo parish… sometimes when i can, I travel to the diocesan TLM an hour away…. My heart belongs to the SSPX
Tradition is simply the Legacy of Christ. The SSPX is simply adhering to this Legacy. They are the lifeboat of The Bark of Peter - and will be the standard / example of proper Catholic worship once we had a Holy Pope that restores the Faith & faithful.
Bishop lefebvre was not ok with his conscience, so he did what Jesus wanted from him. If God wasn't in his favour the traditional Mass would have fallen. I also think he will be canonised one day. As a child I thought they were only changing the Latin mass into our languages so we can understand it but I now know that hasn't been done at all. I remember the priest with a smile on his face announced that day, today I will be facing you. When I think back how the church was then and now, I prefer then and how did we arrive here, it is so sad and stressful to think about it for me, but I also know that Jesus will not abandon us.
@@JackieArmB not just a saint, but also a future Doctor of the Church. I remember listening to a podcast with Bishop Athanasius Schneider and he was speaking to a Cardinal and this Cardinal stated Marcel Lefebvre will be a Doctor of the Church.
Whether the SSPX has jurisdiction to hear confessions or not, where else can we faithful go except to the SSPX? I have believed the SSPX ever since they came to Australia in the 80's. Will die with the SSPX.
My husband and I love attending Holy Mass offered by the SSPX in the TLM rite. We travel 4hrs each way to attend. We are so disappointed with the abuse and disrespect of the Blessed Sacrament in the Novos Ordo! The SSPX has saved us from losing our Faith! THANK GOD FOR ARCHBISHOP LEFEVRE AND HIS SSPX ORDER. HE WAS WISE AND CORRECT IN WHAT HE SAW WOULD HAPPEN TO THE FUTURE OF HOLY MOTHER CHURCH! We pray for him and the SSPX priests of today!
Ahh I’m so glad you guys decided to make this video… the hysterics and animosity that have arisen from the Salza/Lofton crowd has gotten really out of control and downright intolerable. It’s frustrating, especially since it seems to me that the SSPX position is only becoming more justified as time goes on. God bless.
Andrew - thank you for a wonderful thoughtful interview with Fr. Sherry. Fr. Sherry - thank you for this video. It was very informative and enlightening. I was trying to figure out if you were Irish until you mentioned that you hailed from Cavan well into the presentation. It’s great to hear a serious thoughtful traditional Irish priest speak especially this month (March) which some of us consider to be a “high holy month” honoring St. Patrick. I’m American (and Irish - an Irishman) and consider myself to be an “Irish Catholic” as well as a “Roman Catholic” which I mention with tongue in cheek of course. I go to a great Novus Order Parish (actually a few of them) where the priests are wonderful, committed to working tirelessly to save souls, and the Masses are reverent. I’ve only been to Latin Mass 1 time at a NO parish. I’m 55 years old so I grew up in the near term wake of Vatican 2….. I’m saddened that our Church pushed out the Latin Mass and seems to have suppressed it instead of offering both the Latin Mass and Novus Order as Mass alternatives for parishes since I was a kid. I want to go to Latin Mass more in the future but still love the Novus Order when said reverently…. I would like to visit a SSPX chapel and will try and find one. So, I just wanted to thank you for this great video and thoughtful discussion with Andrew. God bless you and your endeavors. Happy St Patrick’s Day to you. All the best, Tim (NY - USA)
Dear Fr. Sherry, at first, it was all over my head. I stayed with you. I have been all over this issue, 12 years of Catholic School, in the midst of Vatican II. They "sold" the Holy Eucharist in the hands as "this was what was done long ago because of health concerns." Well, during the Black Plague, no one knew how it was transmitted. They "sold" nuns out of their habits and into street clothes because that "was how it was done hundreds of years ago so that the nuns could more easily perform their missionary work." Oh, my nuns and priests did not lie, I now understand. They received the lies in faith! I see this now! Many left the Church. Through all of this a voice has said: "What does your conscience say?" My conscious all along has said "SSPX." The papal seat is empty, I now understand. May I add that "they" are not simply diminishing our faith with the intent to abolish our Church, their objective is to negate Our Lord, Jesus Christ, who was nailed to a cross! Thank you, Father Sherry. Diane, Boston, MA/USA
Thank you. This was so well expressed. I hope you can cut up into perhaps 3 or 4 parts and give each a title. So much good information here but most people will not attempt to listen to something this long.
2:25:24 "Surely the Pope has the authority to bring about a new mass..." What about Quo Primum? Father Greggory Hesse, a priest friend of the SSPX, said that the creation of "new rites" was forbidden under Quo Primum. St. Pius V bound all his successors under this as a matter of faith and morals. Right?
Nope. Church discipline (i.e., a liturgical rite) is not a matter of faith and morals. It is always subject to change. Here’s something to consider- Pius V issued similar prohibitions against making changes to the Breviary in his papal bull, Quod a nobis (9 July 1568). Pius V writes: "Having thus forbidden to anyone the use of any other, we order that our breviary and form of praying and chanting be kept in all churches around the world... according to the custom and rite of the Roman Church, except the aforesaid institution or custom exceeding two hundred years: stating that this breviary, at any time, may not be changed in whole or in part, except nothing whatsoever can be added to it or taken away from it." This is the same kind of language with which Quo Primum was issued, and also in a papal bull (which carries the same weight as Quo Primum). He says the document in question may not be changed at all, at any time, and nothing can be added or removed. And yet Pope St Pius X (the SSPX’s namesake!) abolished the breviary of Pius V, rewrote and re-promulgated his own, and forbade anyone from using the breviary of Pius V. He understood that papal pronouncements regarding liturgical discipline did not bind future popes. Popes can only bind their successors in matters of dogma.
"We are aware that those who thus belittle obedience in order to justify themselves with regard to those functions which they have unrighteously assumed, defend their position by recalling a usage which prevailed in ages past. Yet everyone sees that all ecclesiastical discipline is overthrown if it is in any way lawful for one to restore arrangements which are no longer valid because the supreme authority of the Church long ago decreed otherwise. In no sense do they excuse their way of acting by appealing to another custom, and they indisputably prove that they follow this line deliberately in order to escape from the discipline which now prevails and which they ought to be obeying." - Ad Apostolorum Principis, Pope Pius XII
I was born in 1948 went to Catholic school in Ireland made my Communion and Confirmation in Tridentine Latin Mass my family and other Ancestors were Tridentine. We were taught clearly the Apostles passed over to us the first part of the Mass and the Church added the other half. Amazes me that even Priests can't explain the Sacraments. Scripture tells us On the night He was betrayed Jesus and His Apostles attended the Temple in Jerusalem for Passover Prayers. Passover Prayers means Death Prayers All Jews had Passover they worshipped the Messiah in advance. Work in Progress. Those Passover Prayers are Perpetual and can't be changed they were passed over to us. The Temple fell because it was the end of time for the Symbolic Paschal Lamb Sacrifice . Jews had true worship Jesus is listening to His Death Prayers created by Him. He is God and He attended true Worship His Own Worship. Scripture tells us Shortly after the Jews gain Israel the Perpetual Sacrifice will be removed and the Abomination of Desolation replaced therin then comes the end of time for the Gentiles. Jews gained Israel in 1948 Vatican11 1960's but Jesus tells us Imposters and Apostates and Hirelings will take the Vineyard. His Church will last until end of time but in order for Rome to go a Subsidiary Novus Ordo Church is created a Counterfeit.
Pope Francis has once or twice quoted Saint Vincent of Lérins. I wonder what he makes of the following quote: "What is the deposit? That which has been entrusted to you, not that which you have yourself devised: a matter not of cleverness, but of learning; not of private adoption, but of public tradition; a matter brought to you, not put forth by you, wherein you are bound to be not an author but a keeper, not a teacher but a disciple, not a leader but a follower. Keep the deposit. Preserve the talent of Catholic Faith inviolate, unadulterate. That which has been entrusted to you, let it continue in your possession, let it be handed on by you. You have received gold; give gold in turn. Do not substitute one thing for another. Do not for gold impudently substitute lead or brass. Give real gold, not counterfeit," _Commonitory for the Antiquity and Universality of the Catholic Faith Against the Profane Novelties of All Heresies_
Without conviction what do we have ???..........Let's never forget our blessed martyrs and the selfless part they have played in giving our blessed church Credibility.......
Bishop Schneider brings details up about this in an interview on the kennedy report, if you're not familiar with him, he has a you tube channel. I don't remember the exact details, only that a precedence had been set by a well known Saint, fairly early on in the church. Hope this is helpful.
