Ok, ok, now I want to go plunder and pillage a village. ⚔️😂🤣 I don't know if Geoff's low notes can blow out speakers like Tim Foust can, but they certainly can shake your soul. 🙌✌️
@@MrsRealistic & @doobiedave9686 In this song Geoff hits 3 B0's which is 3 or 4 piano keys from right off the edge of the piano. Pretty sure Tim Foust's low note is also a B0 (could be wrong, but there really isn't much lower one can go). Geoff has apparently hit an A0, but it is for a much shorter length of time than in this song.
We obviously know that Tim Foust has blown speakers and we even know that Avi Kaplan has also blown speakers (he did that at least once while he was still with Pentatonix). If Geoff has not blown speakers YET, I think it is only a matter of time before it happens. He just keeps working at the lows so he will be capable of it one day, if it has not already happened.
@@hwyla4416 A0 and B0 are the first two white keys o a piano keyboard, respectively - so yes, getting pretty damn low! They're also approaching the lower limit of what's considered "normal" human hearing - A0 is just over 27 Hertz (Hz, cycles per second), B0 is just over 30 Hz, and the "normal" lower limit of hearing for a young person in good health is about 20 Hz. As people age that number goes up, and if there is any damage to the ear (physical or medical problems) it will usually also go up - Geoff's B0 is getting really close to the bottom of my range! Tim Storms, who holds the world record for lowest note produced by a human, has produced notes that are completely off a piano keyboard and WAY below human hearing - we're talking below 1 Hz here. You need special mics to pick up his sounds - or an elephant!
@@jamescurfman3284 If Geoff has not blown a speaker, it is not because he is not going low enough. It is not just the note that blows them. It is also the amount of power behind the note - how loud it is. So, it could be that he just isn't singing as loudly, especially since he doesn't do much live anymore. While he did sing live just back in November, it would not have been appropriate to blow out a speaker in a Chicago concert. Not sure how low he went there, but obviously did not go for the combo of low note plus volume.
Enjoyed your reaction. The "nugget" on this was part of the karaoke track they make for their Patreon supporters, but it could be a remix, a message, a bit of bts, outtakes , a taste of another song or even a silly skit. They like to keep us on our toes and playing to the end is great for the algorithm , so they at least make it entertaining.
They out do themselves every time! I cannot stop watching this, it is amazing!! Geoff hits 3 B0's! Eli has become the Asgardian god of rock, Layne is a beatboxing god, Cesar has become a Berserker, and J None has shown us that rap indeed belongs in acapella! And Miracle of Sound gave this 10 out of 10 raised ale horns!! Great reaction! This from the Assasins Creed Valhalla video game, but that rap is all J None!!
I'm not much of a gamer, so a lot of that will probably be lost on me except for a few games that my hubby has played, before our gaming computer bit the dust. Our 3 kids mostly play fortnite or lego video games 😆 I've heard of Assasins Creed, but never seen it. I enjoy the music none the less! 😁👍
Geoff's bass while J None was watching the seas was B0 for about 15 seconds. Love Layne's creaky door for J None. This is great Viking stuff. Miracle of Sound gave them 10 out of 10 ale horns. Try VP's version of Drunken Sailor.
This song from the "Assassin's Creed" video game serise, and another Gem is their cover from the mega-popular "Skyrim" Game Series is the song covered by Voiceplay: "The Dragonborn Comes", they absolutely nail it! And yes, Geoff starts it all rolling right out of the gate.
I am not much of a gamer, so the songs might be lost on me as far as in relation to each game, but the music is amazing none the less! I've heard of Assasins Creed, but I've never seen it.
Thanks not just for this reaction, but also for apparently convincing your hubby to also react to them. That first reaction of his was just so satisfying. He apparently was unconvinced before they started singing. Always fun to watch the jaw drop!
Haha! 😆 Yeah, it was pretty funny to watch. A lot of the music that really moves me is lost on him because I'm way more emotional and we have some different tastes sometimes... but throw in some Metallica and you can't go wrong! Who doesn't love Metallica?! I figured that was a good balancing point 😉
Great reaction! This one's so much fun. Hoist the Colours and Drunken Sailor are definitely a pair, but it's a bit up in the air as to which should be considered the prequel/sequel; DS was released some time later, but the guys are a lot more serious and looking very much the worse for wear in HtC. Some others that come highly recommended, leaning slightly toward the theatrical side and in no particular order: The Dragonborn Comes, Sleeping in the Cold Below, The Wellerman, In The Hall of the Mountain King, The Greatest Showman medley, Creep, Queen in Five Minutes (requires watching closely and reading the brief character intros!), the Moana and Little Mermaid medleys, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Seven Nation Army, Hellfire, We Don't Talk About Bruno, The Phantom of the Opera, Friends on the Other Side.
Nice reaction! 🙂 Yes, it's a cover, and Miracle of Sound commented under their video and gave them "10 raised alehorns out of 10" for the most creative cover of his song 😁. These guys have it all. And you didn't try their sense of humour yet... Wait until you'll watch "Drunken sailor", or "Golden hour" (in which they are at the same time sweet, funny and weird 😅), or "In the Hall of the Mountain King" which is the most hilarious delirium I've watched/listened to in years. Or many others, like ANY of their Halloween installments. 😁 Others have suggested songs for your next reaction to them... I'd add "I can't make you love me", where, just like in "Creep" (or maybe even more), you'll be able to experience the most emotional side of Cesar's voice (and acting). And "Running up that hill", originally by Kate Bush and which they present in a more "Stranger things"-like kind of version. 🙂 See you next time!
Welcome to Rock God Eli and Berserker Cesar! I'd like to recommend you do their version of "Creep!" Cesar's voice is like a whisper in it...I mean in tone, not volume. Their guest in it is Anthony Gargiulia (I may have spelled that wrong, he's better known as "Anthony G" among reactors, LOL!) who is fantastic. Bring tissues.
@@MrsRealistic I don't think you'll be sorry! And the arrangement was done by Eli. Usually it's Geoff and Layne doing them. But Eli's choices were fantastic! I'll leave other comments for after you see it. Incidentally, I'm listening to Valhalla Calling as I type this.😁
Hi my friend sorry to be a pain - when you get to nightwish - I want my tears back can you do the one live in Buenos Aires it's a better version if already done it's ok many thanks love and respect from the UK 👍👍😀😀🌟 amazing channel 👍
Thanks for the great reaction. For starters, you've learned all their names already! Some reactors take many videos before that happens. After Nothing Else Matters, this, and Hoist the Colors, you're getting a good intro the INTENSE version of VoicePlay. Next you should check out a couple of the lighter pieces. These guys take the music very seriously, but they don't take themselves seriously at all! Check out Bang! for an intro to a different mind-blowing guest artist. Or the recent The Lion Sleeps Tonight, which you'll have to watch at least 6 times to take in everything that's happening. Or one of their older ones that seems to be resurging lately: Boy Bands in 5 Minutes.
Actually Rap fits in perfectly with Viking music because Vikings used to have Flyting contests. Basically they were insults hurled at the opponents using rhymes. So basically they were rapping lol. The best Flyters were very well rewarded for their quips.
Me through the whole video watching your reactions: "RIGHT???!!!!" I am obsessed with watching people's first time reactions to this song! Also, this video is proof that Geoff is, indeed, not human, but rather a Frost Giant. Or maybe an anthropomorphic war horn. Or the glorious love child of the two... with amazing hair. He punishes my subwoofer and rumbles my brain. Overall, there is so much testosterone in this video and I am HERE for it! 🥵🤪😁
Hellfire. Gotta hear. Geoff has the lead, both high and low. Layne does a lot of special effects, but Ceasar has been adding a few of his own here and there.
I love your reactions and I'm so glad you went down the VoicepPlay rabbit hole! Now, I think you'd have a lot of fun checking out Geoff's solo channel. His covers of 16 Tons, The Sound of Silence, House of the Rising Sun, and I See Fire (from The Hobbit, Desolation of Smaug) really show his incredulous range and talent. That is another Rabbit Hole I'd love to see you jump into.
Ah, my very favorite Voiceplay song (so far)! I listen to it on repeat for several hours every other night! It still blows me away every time I see the video. And hey, first comment!
@@MrsRealistic Hoist The Colors is still my record though. Over 43,500 times I listened to it last year, it's my sleep song. But pretty sure Valhalla Calling will come in a close second for this year again. I would have thought Geoff's solo (is it still a solo when it's the same man singing four parts?) version of "Folsom Prison Blues" would be on there, I watched it so much. Oh! Duh! The numbers came from Spotify, whereas I watched the video of FPB on RU-vid. Brain right work not. Long day!
So glad you did this one! This was (at the time) one of their most involved productions - they filmed in a VR studio with huge LED screen walls, so Eli's 3D backgrounds really stood out, although the studio AC was down (Florida - 90 degrees!) - so they had to keep pausing for retouching of makeup etc.! J. None's plane from Washington was 3 hours late, which may explain his delay in joining the others! Many of their (and Geoff's) other videos are shot at Pattycake Productions studio - a company co-owned by Layne and Tony Wakim (ex-VP baritone, who wanted to explore the production side more), many of their 'shorts' are shot in the mall where the studio is located (Oviedo Mall). Pattycake also have their own videos on here, notably their 'Villains Lair' series, but my fave is 'Bump In The Night'..! As others have mentioned, they do virtually everything themselves, with the exception of additional camera operators, more advanced makeup/prosthetics (by the wizard, Rick Underwood, who worked with several of them at Universal Studios theme park) and the final audio mix by the genius that is Ed Boyer (who also works with HF and PTX among others). As far as picking a favorite - it usually tends to be - the next one! 😊
If I happen to be 1/3 English 1/3 German 1/3 Scottish and 164th Cherokee and this song literally hits to the literally hits 1/3 Scottish side of me and the 164th Cherokee side of me it happens to hit
Adored this reaction, I love how animated you get about it, its so hard not to be when its VP! I very very highly recommend you hear their Queen in Five Minutes medley, it is incredible in both the arrangement as well as the extremely creative story they tell in the music video. It also features a former member you haven't met yet, Earl Elkins, who sadly is no longer with the group but absolutely kills it, Freddie would be proud if he heard them. Can't wait for more VoicePlay!
1:52 B0 1:58 F#1 1:59 B0 Geoff is simply not human. Some dont realise that came out of him. As if that wasnt impressive enough he sings a whole song after probably destroying his voice but enough of geoff eli going rock god at 3:15 belting C5-D#5 at points is unreal!
The one who surprised me most in this was Layne. He had few tricks up his sleeve, esp the back to back door squeek sounds 03:26-03:29, and the space robotic sound at 06:43 (still wondering how he made that sound). All the others were equally good too, but I am also fan of beatboxing.
Oh just wait... When everyone in your group can hit three octaves, and some can hit five, you've got a different standard for the word "possible". Want to see something fun, try their cover of "Hellfire", when a particular low note is hit and you realize... wait... that wasn't Geoff, that was Layne....
It’s interesting you made the comment about feeling like you were in an ice cream store. In Peter Barber’s interview with Geoff, he said that he was vanilla ice cream. 😄 I’d recommend you check out Geoff’s channel. His covers of 16Tons and Big Bad John are pure bassy goodness.
@moriahwhite1188 Oh, no no...I didn't mean that I thought YOU called him Vanilla! I was just surprised that he called HIMSELF vanilla! Sorry for the confusion! And I agree with you! As much as I love Vanilla ice cream... he needs way more toppings added to it! 😆👍
TY Mrs Realistic for never talking to much within the song! You listen and go from that! You have my respect master! The song where about the Gordons Ansesters in sweden! Hes a fighter in these days And still going for hes anscesters!'
see, the theater kids were a group unto their own, but there was also the theater tech group who ran the props, lights, sound, etc. We were the ones who were sliding around backstage fixing things, handing off props, lighting up the nerds on stage... and we were the ones who were left behind to shut down the theater... we got it done in the dark... and a lot of what we did stays there. I legit think that some of the horniest and kinkiest kids I ever knew were in theater tech. the light/sound booth? yeah, people banged in there. The prop/costume room? Yeah, people banged in there. The rafters with the spots? Yeah, people banged up there. We were left with the entire school grounds and no supervision... so many bodily fluids...
I just recently discovered your channel and am enjoying being introduced to new groups of talented singers! Have you ever done a reaction video of Lifein3d?
This is definitely one of my faves, and thank you for commenting on Cesar here - his contribution is frequently ignored, sandwiched as he is beween Geoff's lows (always mentioned) and Eli's highs (often mentioned). If you want to check out a non-VP viking acapella cover, The Bass Gang have recently released _If_ _I_ _Had_ _a_ _Heart_ and it's well worth checking out too!
If you consider yourself a "theater kid", I would definitely recommend their incredibly creative cover of We Don't Talk About Bruno, from the film Encanto.
@@MrsRealisticWell, that would be even better. However, they have done quite a few movie and theatre musical covers. If you saw Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, they did a cover of Hellfire from that, which is pretty fantastic. As well, their covers of "If I Were a Rich Man/Girl" (mostly from Fiddler on the Roof), "Oogie Boogie's Song" (The Nightmare Before Christmas), and their Moana Medley (from Moana) are all good examples of what they can do with movie and stage musical covers - especially if you know any of the originals. They are great regardless, though. The Moana one is from 6 years ago, so they look a lot younger and have a few members there who have been gone from the group for awhile. Also, since you like Geoff Castellucci's voice (the bass in the group), you might want to check out one of the solos from his channel. Sixteen Tons is a great start there.
What's crazy is B0, which is the super low sustained note Goeff does in the beginning is only 4 notes above what the human ear is capable of hearing. Anything lower than E0 moves into infrasound (below 20hz) that takes special censors to register...though an elephant can hear it.
@@MrsRealisticI’ve heard dolphins become extremely agitated at Geoff’s notes below E0 and also we’ve had alien contact as a direct result of his lowest notes. Most of which (notes and contact) are kept from public knowledge by the NSA. Allegedly.
@beckyleavitt7808 yeesh... that's pretty in your face, rude! I remember when door to door salesmen used to ask if my parents were home, and I would say, "I AM the parent!" 😆 Just a could of months ago, I got asked if my kids were my grandkids...by a lady who was clearly older than I am. How the tide has turned. 😭

So you were a theatre kid, you say? Then you should definitely check out Ayreon. It is a project that does Rock Opera where every album tells one story. Each character is sung by one vocalist from many different bands. And the music is great, too. The Day That The World Breaks Down from the Album The Source is an obvious starting point, because it provides quite a bit of background information from the mastermind behind the project himself. But please do the official studio video. The official live version from last year's concert should get released sometime later this year, I guess. I won't share more information here to not spoil anything. But the Ayreonauts are great with providing all the info in the comments. If you decide to go down this rabbit hole too, the live shows from 2017 and 2019 are on RU-vid in their entirety.
Very good reaction love your feelings I rec Geoff castelluchi deep bass cover of,I see fire , yes all 4 are Geoff and voice play hellfire, from hunch back of notradame is also cool
Voiceplay has one MASSIVE problem. They're all TOO good to be in an acapella group with Geoff Castelluci - they don't EVER get enough credit because reactors swoon over the deep bass. Yes - the deep bass is impressive, but they are ALL insanely talented well trained and CRAZILY good musicians. Geoff gets way too much credit for the awesomeness, while "only" being one part of the group.
@@MrsRealisticYes, they are .. Try taking a relisten, then REALLY focus on everything OTHER than Geoffs bass voice.. "You" really don't understand how good they ALL are, until you have focused on them all, individually.. I mean - try one relisten ONLY focusing on Eli.. Then one ONLY focusing on Layne and so on.. I'm still in awe over the FINAL note of the video from Eli.. I mean you are talking about all of them, but that's really not the "norm" when people react to voiceplay....
eoff gets a lot of credit for VP even existing, and for not bugging out once his solo stuff took off. But none of the reactors I follow, including TCV, FVM and Jennifer Glatzhofer have ever failed to give every member full and enthusiastic recognition of their talents.
