It's so special being able to see some of his work, you can see the design cues across his works. It gives you an idea of what he was trying to achieve with your villa, a very stylish man.👍❤
Love your project, it’s fantastic you have your father with you. As an old man it brings back memories of 60 years ago working with my father and young brothers on a complete rebuild. Wishing you and you family all the very best ❤
Thank you for the wonderful and very productive vlog. Don’t think for one minute we don’t understand what hard work this is for you and your Father and Anna. Many thanks and I cannot wait for what is next. Donna Blake Leawood Kansas USA. ❤
Whahoo!.... it's moving along and will be fantastic!!!! How lovely that there was an exposition of Aroldi, goodness he was a busy creative man, I'm sure he's smiling somewhere in the universe that you are bringing his home back to life.
What a transformation with the wall between the two rooms being gone. Really opens the space and improves the flow of the house. Looks messy but well worth the effort!!!
Wonderful exhibit of Aroldi’s work. Interesting to see his palette and renderings of classical elements with the decorative arts of the time incorporated. Truly a gifted man. You are lucky to be able to live in a villa he designed!
What progress. Less building site and more home shaping. Wonderful. I live your attitude and care for the animals too. You take time and care for all that you do. Thank you.
Yes! Unfortunately we can't get the original as it's owned by the museum but we will be getting a printed copy of it (we already have an electronic version of it).
Great episode!! Amazing to see the progress you’ve made! I like the idea of lighting the arches and opening up the wall. I guess the flooring upstairs is tongue in groove? You will have to cut a line over to the middle of the floor and separate it from the tongue inserted into the groove, then lift up a strip of wood to get to that area and then glue it back?? Only a guess on my part!!?? 😅 but Bravo for all the work you’ve done with your father!! He must enjoy it?? Also, nice way to end the episode with the exhibition!!😮 Blessings to you for what you do for homeless dogs!!❤
Thank you! Yes, it's tongue and groove unfortunately, we had hopes it weren't. It's Anna's passion so I guess there will be plenty of more dogs in the future.
Oh wow, that exhibition was fascinating, I had no idea about the name of the villa pertaining to the architect!! That is so exciting and you guys are doing an amazing job when you opened up the wall I just imagined this grand villa with the large room. I don’t even know what room that is if it’s the living room or what but I’m sure I’ll find out soon. Thank you for sharing and you guys are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.!!❤️😀
Apologies in advance as this will no doubt be a long comment (I am a motormouth/gobshite 😂). Hi 👋 I am a new subscriber, I came via the comments section on the Villa Oliva channel 😊 I have just finished binge watching your channel and am just loving everything so far. I am a disabled mum to 3 children with Autism 2 of whom are severe with other problems. Needless to say I don't get out much (hence being a bit talkative 😂). My relaxation is watching RU-vid and channels like this and Doctor Who (this may be a bit of an obsession well so my family says as everything stops for Doctor Who 😂😂). So sorry about your windows but oh my how quick work is coming along now the sewerage is sorted. I adore your father so another one to add to his fan club 😂 Thank you both for rescuing as many animals as you do and my rescue dog Bonnie say's thank you too ❤️ Can't wait for the next installment as the Villa is so beautiful and will be full of grandeur when you have restored it while putting your own stamp on it.
Welcome and thank you for your kind words, im glad you like the channel! Haha, welcome to the fan club, he has his little gathering of people that seems to like him, I do really enjoy working with him so I am sure you guys will see more of him soon. Im glad you have a rescue dog, Ps, I used to have a dog named Bonnie when I was a child!
Wow! That's a lot of progress. Great job. I am seeing there are different floors between the opened walls. Perhaps a really nice piece of stained wood would make an attractive transitional piece. So happy to see things moving for you!
Thank you! I think we are going to have to take the floor out in the kitchen as we are extending it anyway but we will reclaim the tiles and use them elsewhere.
The ceilings in your villa are incredibly beautiful, including the upstairs balcony one: just exquisite! That looked like awful, filthy work but loads of progress in just one video. Well done!
Haha thank you! It goes back and forth, some things goes fast and other take time, but we have tried to get as much done as possible with the help of my father.
I hadn't read/heard what you were doing, but I should have figured it out from the previous video. Wonderful idea to combine the spaces! It's going to be spectacular.
Amazing progress! On the electrical needing to go under your wood floor. It's not fast but you can use what is called an oscillating saw to cut the tongue off one side of the board and then be able to pull it up. To reinstall you will need to glue down the board and get glue under both boards on either side.
@@VillaAroldi also when you sand the wood floors down save all the wood dust. Mix it with glue till you get a paste about the thickness of silicone then with a rubber or plastic trowel work it into all the cracks. Do another light sand then put on your finish. It will stain the same color as the wood floors while sealing all the little cracks and gaps between the boards making it much easier to clean and not end up a few years from now with the dark dirty line of the crack filled with dirt and dust.
Thank's for the great advice! I would need an awful lot of saw dust though as there are so many gaps up there, a few millimeters between each board 😂@@scott32570
I have been away for a bit. It is wonderful to see your progress and your skilled attention to restoring this grand villa. It is with the proper custodians. Was that a dog bark woven into the theme music montage at the end? Loved the video. Thank you.
Awwwww sweet pups 🐶🐶. Blowing open that wall reminded me of that movie 'Under The Tuscan Sun'... what a job, looks great. Love the drone and museum footage w music.
Great work! Is there such a thing as LED bulbs that run off of batteries and a remote for the downstairs ceiling light? I'm with you, it would be a shame to run a wire across the ceiling.
I dont know but we will sort it out somehow, there are those wires that are in textile and actually look decent, or if we somehow can sort it out in another way.
Don't install LED fixtures into walls. Install fixtures that have standard light bulb sockets and use LED bulbs. It's always easier to replace a bulb every 10 years than replace the built-in fixture.
I hear getting permit to "build" / do renovations is a pain in the @ss in Italy. How was your experience? Especially in your situation where the villa is historic?
Yes, it's cumbersome to get permits and it's a lot of rules that makes no sense and so on, but luckily our villa is not covered by "belle arti" so we can do basically what we want (or at least everything you can do in a "normal" home), if however that would change in the future and the villa will be included we can't make drastic changes then, like adding an extension to the kitchen and so on. But with a good surveyor (geometra) he can do all the permits and plans for you so it does not have to be too much work if you are lucky!
When you are removing any walls …. You have to wear a MASK if not it will be in your lungs you will not feel it right away but later on you will have complications. Preventions is KEY.
