Villa SD by GHA - Giordano Hadamik Architects - Liguria
Villa Selvadolce, nestled among the hills of Bordighera with a view over the Gulf to Montecarlo, integrates with the steep landscape of the Ligurian terraces, becoming an integral part of it. The natural stone facades have large openings overlooking the valley and the sea.
The basement volume arranged on a single floor creates a structural and visual link with the land that surrounds it. The presence of a central stone patio breaks the linearity of the elevation, acting as a mediating filter between the internal and external spaces.
Attention to detail and functionality are also found inside the modern villa. Upon entering the house, the visitor is immediately attracted to the courtyards, which define the internal plane and integrate natural sunlight, ventilation and exotic vegetation into the living spaces, leading to the center of the building, the large open plan living space. The open views and windows on each side highlight the distribution axes and naturally illuminate the circulation spaces.
The front part of the living room, with the dining and relaxation area, is defined by a full-height glass window and corner windows of approximately 12 m. The hidden frame emphasizes the effect of lightness and transparency, framing the views of the pool, patio, garden and the valley and sea. The kitchen at the back of the space is framed by the internal exotic gardens, so the entire living area is naturally lit and surrounded by nature. The dining room extends to the patio, an open-air outdoor area with a stone structure, wooden sunshade slats on the roof and a rain cover when necessary.
Internally, on the left side towards the entrance there is the guest area with a study and 2 bedrooms overlooking the lawn. On the right side is the main area of the house with bathroom and dressing room. The master area extends directly onto the swimming pool solarium. The corridor and service areas are all naturally lit by large openable skylight patios.
The interior features a simple, timeless design with the use of high-quality pure materials and details, such as warm wood and stone and gypsum plaster. The natural oak wood furnishings are custom designed.
The bathrooms are covered in natural Botticino stone and furnished with oak furniture and stone bathroom fixtures. The rooms are lit by skylights above, creating a sensational atmosphere.
