Im a teen from Somerset (Bristol) i work in a local British UK supermarket called the Co-op, its a well known secret between the co-workers that one of our regulars is the Kingswood gimp (Kingswood being an area in Somerset), a man who did a pretty much the same as the Somerset gimp, just instead watching people through their windows 💀
Another victim of the system. His family tried to get help for him, but couldn't. It just isn't there any more, and it's not just those who need it who suffer, the public suffer too. This is what happens when people vote for politicians that close down mental health institutions, deliberately try to bankrupt the NHS - so it's near impossible for the mentally ill to get help, and don't care when the untreated are left to get on with it on their own. Often, the burden is thrown right back on the family, who are not trained professionals in mental health, don't receive extra benefits to assist (unless the case is particularly severe), and don't know if they are doing the right thing or not.
Absolute crap that he “didn’t want to scare anyone” I think that’s exactly what he wanted and I think he got a sexual kick from it 😳 most likely he would have escalated into something much worse as just being “sighted” wouldn’t have done it for him anymore at some point down the line. Not gonna lie I had a giggle at first about it but when I heard the story of him standing there next to a lady who had just got out her car it totally changed for me as I imagined how I would feel in that moment and it deffo would have caused massive anxiety for me going out alone after that 😔

I'm from the West midlands Walsall Pleck Darlaston Wednesbury Bilston Wolverhampton 80s kid and have seen some stuff in my time while growing up in it. It's a shame how it went from being able to leave your doors unlocked and friends could drop round, go out all day build dens and have innocent fun, Fast forward to the 2000s and it was like a different Country/World.

I’m not a Karen, but everyone saying it’s funny, which to a degree it is, and it’s not scary etc, imagine if you were out at night totally quiet and you saw this, I guarantee you would shit yourself. Who knows how this could’ve escalated. I imagine there could’ve been women a bit frightened of seeing this and worried next time they go out, what could happen to them. There are clubs for this sort of thing, not the quiet villages of rural England 😂
@@chrisjames7699 just because someone finds it wierd or feels uncomfortable doesnt mean the law can step in and prevent it from happening. One could claim anything makes them scared in an attempt to have it banned. I dont like watching gay men, they scare me beyond belief. Should we arrest gay men now?
@@Walht Excellent question. Tbf, This may just be a generational issue where older generations haven’t grown up seeing gay men kiss, so it just looks weird and unfamiliar to the person. We are all a product of our upbringing and the societal norms of our developmental years. It doesn’t make someone “a bad person “ if they find something unfamiliar uncomfortable. Actively making other people feel bad about their sexuality is “Bad people”, and this commenter isn’t doing that. believe me I have plenty more, it was a tester to see if it would do any good I must admit I loved researching and writing this true crime story, truthfully though its been my worst performing video for a while, but its starting to find an audience now, this is the second one of weird Wednesdays the first being honey-trap murder that also tanked, that one never recovered. I live in this area, for us he was always referred to as the Claverham Gimp as that was where a great many of the sitings were, and as it turned out where he lived. This is excellently researched, 1 thing I can add though is after a sighting the police sent a helicopter after him. This was in the height of his reign of terror. It was always a running joke with us but if you lived in Claverham especially he was a real menace. Claverham is so small there is not even a village shop there anymore. I don’t know how he got away with it for so long.
I feel a bit sorry for him. The problem with these afflictions is that the individual sometimes fails to realise the shock value if random people are suddenly exposed to them. Being a swinger myself, I wouldn't be overly alarmed as I've seen all sorts now but stuff like this need to kept to like minded people at the right time and place.
First time I seen a Gimp, was "People under the stairs" I was so young, I didn't know what it was, and I remember saying to my Mother "oh wow, I want one of those" hahahaha.

There was a similar guy in Salford, but he was there to help the public, half rococop half superman, horse riding boots etc 😂 He asked peeps if they need any assistance, they just laughed in his face, the police were considering giving him a radio because he had helped with so many crimes, It was on Granada Reports around 2000

One of the first ever video films I watched when we got our Video player was Halloween, Michael Myres was a very imposing scary dude, watched the same film with my daughter when she was around 14 or 15 and could see Michael had the same affect on her as he did on me when I was that same age. Was in a very unique weird shop a few months after watching Halloween with my daughter and they had an identical mask for sale, not some cheap imitation but the real deal, if my daughter wouldn't get out of bed some days after a few wake up reminders Id shout I was getting Michael, she was UP like a flash every time lol 🤣 I still have it now and she's always super weary around Halloween time, just never knowing if I'll decide on bringing out that old boiler suit and mask and sending her a voice note telling her Michael was looking for her, little tune playing in the background for added fear, daft Dad thing but her fear still makes me giggle. Dude, I was on holiday in Somerset like 10 years ago, a guy in a car pulled up to the gates of the land we were staying on and looked at me, he had no face just features, I don't even know how to describe, I ran and told my parents and no-one believed me, maybe this was the guy?!?

for those in the south of England not continually browsing on line , there’s a built-in disadvantage at Regional news level awareness because of the historical matching BBC & iTV TV & Radio divide between the West / South West Regions & the Southern / SE Region News & current affairs coverage. There’s many in SE Dorset or west Hampshire who live only 40 or so miles from Somerset but never heard of this character whilst repeatedly been reminded of nondescript people or events from Greater London twice as far away ! for example places like Leatherhead ,Maidenhead ,Crawley or Uckfield where nothing this bonkers ever happens or gets reported.
I live in Cornwall and i can remember a case about a chap that use to like rolling around in cow dung/poo, he was caught several times but still continued,the last time he was caught was in a slurry pit on a farm,dont know if he was wearing a gimp suit,,😮,, that was a funny/strange video and fully understand how people especially lone females would freak out,thanks for the upload 👍🦧
