In the US, we light the candles, sing a "happy birthday" song, then the birthday boy/girl makes a wish (keeping it secret), and then blow out the candles.. Sometimes not.. things don't ALWAYS go according to plan.. I cried joyous tears with you, Babu.. Happy (Belated) Birthday, Babu!!

We always do 29+1. The older we get it's 29+mumble.

As we get older I tend to do 12actual candles plus a number candle with the picture of age on. That’s better than bringing a fire extinguisher with me. It tends to get very hot lighting so many candles close together, especially when you get to your mid to late 50’s like we are.

You don't need an oven to bake a cake. It can be done on open flame, with a Dutch oven.

@@monicapdx I watch a lot of historical re-enactors, shoring up my skills for the (apparently upcoming) end times. 😒 Dutch ovens would probably make perfect gifts for the ladies if anybody's feeling generous. They don't have electricity, not sure why commenters keep suggesting the show runners send them home with air fryers and such. 😄

@@harlemhottie1377 LOL, I read more than watch, but I'm a history nut so I've picked up on a lot of things. Plus my mother learned to cook on a wood stove. She was born in 1924 in Idaho. Lived everywhere from the grandparents' sheep ranch to log cabins to makeshift camps in the woods. I keep wondering that too. Unfortunately I can't recall any specific mention of if any of them have electricity at all, or are strictly using wood and maybe propane. Dutch ovens would indeed be great. As a Prime member, if I get a local address, I think I can order off Amazon India. I was looking at gas tandoori ovens once, and the prices on there are remarkably cheap for a US budget. Another thing I keep wondering, comparing to other tribal channels, no one seems to send any gifts to our villagers. I know money is tight - I'm under poverty level myself here in the US - but it makes me a bit ashamed sometimes, even so. That's why this is my one and only time as a patron. At least I can do *that* much. I look at prices on Amazon India and keep thinking how much I could get for $25 or so. Like those little gadgets we think are mostly funny, but they're excited about. If they were sturdy enough to last, it'd be so easy to get some.

(And it's a good thing cuz the last few years have been...well, 'anything'. 😦) I don't really 'follow the money' on these channels, so it never occurred to me that there might be, let's say, inequalities across the genre.
