A really cool choice for a react. I have not much else to say except: Does this video have a part 2? Because there are certainly a lot more incredible inventions of ancient times.

Good video! I remember running across the water vending machine fairly recently myself. Things like this are fascinating, and excellent to show that our ancestors were pretty darned smart. Great reactions. Raju had a very good point.

Good Idea, not the best execution, but I think that's more to do with the source video. Perhaps something about lost technology like Greek fire and how did pre dynastic Egyptians carve bowls out of hard stones that are so perfect that it's obviously not done with hammer and chisel. A video on the things they are finding via lidar in south America would also be cool.

I agree...the videos that are chosen to show to these guys are too often really unclear and full of mistakes and misinformation. This one leaves them thinking quite a few things that are not really true...like that everything we think of as high tech today was invented long ago.

The Egyptians also used to make maces, and war hammers out of stone.

A lot could be done about ancient or interesting technologies. Like the famous steam engine of Ancient Greece, ancient blast furnaces of China, the seafaring and navigational expertise of the austronesians, or even something more mundane such as the discovery of alcohol/coffee/new world fruits and veggies, or something more abstract like the development of writing. I wonder and would like to see their reaction if they didn’t already know that potatoes, Chilis, corn, and tomatoes didn’t even exist in Eurasia until the Colombian Exchange.

@remo27

Couldn't they have explained WHY these technologies didn't spread and in some cases were lost and found again and again? In China it was largely that technology was done by the central government that had great incentives to keep it secret (esp anything with military applications). Thus constant reinventions by new dynasties of things old dynasties already had. With the scholars largely being confined to Court and Bureaucracy (no independent educational institutions and no Freedom of Science) the government maintained knowledge and control of anything they invented. On top of that the philosophical and religious environment wasn't good for the advancement of science. Eternal reoccurrence (no 'progress' in anything) and Gods that mislead mortals were common themes of Chinese and lots of asian thought, in contrast to Christianity with its "God is Truth"(thus you could find the immutable laws of Gods creation) , "lying is a sin", and a belief in a progress through Gods Plan at least. Various similar and economic and other factors lead to the other inventions that were lost.

Actually many of these ancient technologies were lost to history and only recently discovered, so most of the tech we use today is a product of invention, as the people who did so did not realize they were re-inventing.

"the principle between modern and ancient hydraulic hammers remains the same" It absolutely isn't the same, they have no similarities at all other than water exists.
@CadoonTube
@CadoonTube 2 года назад
The principle of hydraulics is the same, they still had to understand that water is an incompressible liquid and leverage that fact to make the machine function. The materials, design, and implementation have changed, but the principle is absolutely 100% the same.
@CadoonTube
@CadoonTube 2 года назад
OK I see the specific machine used actually doesn't incorporate what we'd consider to be hydraulic power at all since the water is never sealed or under pressure of any kind, you're right.

I'm surprised they didn't mention nobody knows how the pyramids were built with such extremely heavy stones and precise placements! That's some undiscovered ancient technology (and probably alot of co-ordination too!)
@Gamer831crossfire

also people who study the pyramids also know that it is impossible to move a stone that big on a ramp, it would have to have been miles long so there wouldnt be a big incline

Babu, Sarru, Raeen, and the other villagers should check out RU-vid videos on the bible inventions like the Noah's arc vessel how it was made! There is a amusement park in Tennessee somewhere with a real life size replica of Noah's arc giant boat and tourist can explore inside to see a waxed figure of Noah, his wife, his sons and their wives and all the animals displayed in the ancient wooden rooms of the arc boat on each level inside all designed from the bible scripture instructions👍!
