Hi guys, I used to fish at a lake that was close to an Air Force Base. Sometimes B-52's would come flying over on the way to the base. They came over at a very low altitude, maybe 500ft. The noise was deafening, and the exhaust from those 8 big jet engines was powerful enough to ripple the surface of the water.
Learned quite a lot; this is a great overview video. My favorite is the Warthog. I'm not a big military buff, but the following alone is enough to give you massive respect: "...designed to fly with one engine, one tail, one elevator, and half of one wing missing." 😲
It always makes me laugh when they see one of these planes blow something up and they seem surprised and say it's dangerous. Yep, that's the point of it being made. Wouldn't be much use if it dropped marshmallows or scathing letters on the enemy. 😂✌️♥️🇬🇧
As a young boy I was fascinated with fighter planes. Today, I'm not so much up to date anymore... Well, the guys are now well prepared to watch Top Gun. Or Independence Day. But considering the C-1 Hercules, something on Greek mythology would still be interesting, to see were names like this come from.
A known fact about the A-10 is that the gun was made first before the whole plane was made. I think they are planning to retire the A-10 for the F-35 but it might be awhile due to it's effectiveness in CAS (close Air Support). Same can be said for the F-15 and F-16 since they still have a long combat record.
A-10 wasn't even good at CAS... It had a much higher failure rate while causing more collateral and civilian death proportionally than any other craft in the 20 years in Afghanistan and other conflicts around the region. It's not exactly stealthy, and very far from being effectively accurate even against forces like the Taliban or ISIS. It is scary, friendly forces like it, and it will rip light fortifications and lightly armored vehicles to shred (if it hits) but it's more of a spectacle that scares the shit out of the enemy rather than a truly efficient kill vehicle compared to the likes of the F18, F-16, AC-130, etc. The A-10 is bordering near the same tier of obsolescence as the battleship.
I am highly disappointed that the F-16 Fighting Falcon wasn't featured.... it is known as America's fighter posterboy. It's also been exported to different nations in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Yeah, not so much. For the cost of one F-22 you could put 1,600 people through 4-years of college. The B-1 has several stringent limitations in its flight envelope. The A-10's have statistically had a poor battle record. The B-52 is relegated to far-off stand-off duty of releasing cruise missiles. And overall all these planes have an availability of like 35%. So two-thirds of them are just sitting around at any one time waiting to be fixed. And let's not forget that in Iraq and Afghanistan these planes and weapons killed around 500,000 civilians. And not a word of apology from the government. Not so laudable.
This vid gives a very limited windows into the world of fighter jets ... show them Top Gun Maverick movie also. They will get a lot more insight of what jets can do
*I wish there wasn't so much criticism here for these military planes. I despise war myself, but realize in reality there are evil people who are cruel and just want to conquer and take. Military is a needed thing to 'keep peace', as much as I and other dislike that fact. Someone needs to protect against that.*
The last thing we needed was another video bragging about the US military. Oh and the US has done things with these planes other than "keeping peace" too.
@@17losttrout'The West' though is quite a lazy term. It normally just means the US as without them the conflict wouldn't start and when they pull out so will others.
@@bahhab9361 Imagine these planes in action on uncontacted tribesmen. Well better not. But in reality Im 100% sure tribesmen already have seen plenty planes and ships pass by. There is just no going around that. If you look on a interactive map of airplanes or ships, the whole world is filled. So in other words. They have seen large metal moving objects in both sky and sea
what are planes? you mean sky gods? lol there was a tribe during WWII called the cargo cult, they made stick planes and walked around in formation with sticks as rifles
Seeing this should make these people glad we are basically a friendly country, not wanting to fight, without being attacked. We believe in walking softly, but carrying a big military stick!
