The last group of dancers, from the Republic of Georgia, were astonishing! Especially the man near the end, the one who was spinning in place, and doing it very fast. I don't think I've seen someone spin like that since I last watched figure skating!

The comment about the Irish dance video was sort of correct. The man in the middle, Michael Flatley, could be called a "teacher" of this group. He was the creator of the Irish dance show that this fragment was from, "Lord of the Dance", and played the main role in it for several years. (Now there are several dancers playing this role interchangeably)

I'm glad that Lindy Hop was presented in this video! Also the comment about clapping makes sense in a way, as swing dancers strive to be behind the beat.

But is it a traditional dance? It was created in 1920's. I think dances of Native American people should represent USA as all other dances this video were older and really traditional.

@CBs-Home-Vids

It's a truly usa/american created folk dance invented by african americans for enjoyment of all people. Native american dance is for native peoples and I believe the country as it is today, for us to just claim the dance of native people as "american" would basically be theft or appropriation. But, created specifically by this american country as it is today, swing is the closest thing I can think of although I am surely no expert. It is definitely one of the few 100% "USA"-made folk dances. Because of the young age of usa as a country and only within the past century have people started to really get along and become the real melting pot, this is one of the first ones made in the time period.

@@blueeyedbaer well Lindy hop was created by African Americans! Being that our history is what it is it would make sense that it’s a “newer” dance (even though it was 100 years ago now. I think it’s nice that we’re finally getting some rep for the dance here (even though they showed white people doing it lol)
@RubelliteFae
@RubelliteFae 2 года назад
@@blueeyedbaer I recently had the realization that the meaning of "traditional" varies wildly. For example, peanuts have only been in Asia for a couple hundred years, but Thais will get mad if you say it's not traditional. Meanwhile Australian aboriginals have been keeping traditions alive for many thousands of years. Indigenous has a precise meaning. Traditional is so fluid it makes me want to stop using it altogether. Is a word with such loose parameters actually useful or have we just fooled ourselves into thinking it is meaningful?

*Listens to Cultural dances and vibing along to the beat* If that doesn't Exemplify Squad goals then i don't know what is, And if you want to explain this to them (I think my chances are low but just in case for our Indian Brothers) A Squad is the laymans meaning which is easily explainable but i'm here for the Slang's interpretation, A group of Close-knit friends that hang and act together no matter what happens, One dances the others do so as well for the fun of it, Squad goals in the meantime is the desire to reach such heights with the shown positivity and the enjoyment of good times. If any got a better explanation be welcome to correct me, but this is my interpretation

Hey guys, this is amazing stuff! I just wish you would give more credit to your "villagers" or "tribal people". They are real people from real places, with real cultural roots, who bring an honestly new perspective to the experiences you share. That's why their responses are so awesome! Calling them "tribal people", as if they are some random, ignorant, "country bumpkins"; as if they were any generic "tribal people" whose own culture is unimportant, really brings it down. Who are these people? What makes the experiences you bring them so different and interesting?
