I fish many types of fish here in Washington State and half the time I Fillet ( debone , take out thorns ) or smaller fish I leave in. When cooked I hold tail and with sharp knife lay almost flat at tail and push toward head. One side now should be all thorns grab tail and pull and you should have the skeleton of the fish. This takes a little practice to get all the thorns out.

When I was a poor kid, we ate the cheapest fish. They were cheaper because they had not been scaled or filleted, as well as being a more common breed of fish. So they had lots of bones, which our friends are calling thorns. Our Grandmother would give us dry bread and tell us just to chew up the fish and then eat a piece of bread to take the "thorns" down our throats. It works and the calcium in those bones is good for our own bones. The fish with the most bones was herring which we cooked many ways, smoked they are called kippers.

Perhaps let the guys know, especially Raeen as he mentioned it, that some fish are closer in relation/DNA to humans, than they are to other fish. Over 50% of all vertebrates are fish. So, if you think a sheep tastes nothing like a bear, or a person tastes nothing like a tiger... You can imagine that most fish don't taste alike either. 🤣

Glad Babu enjoyed the barbecued fish. For those that regularly grill, if the BBQed fish were cut up & added to a gravy or curry, would it add more to the flavor? I'm thinking similar to roasting onion before making the French onion soup for the extra flavor. If so, maybe Babu would enjoy fish dishes more. Are the fish the gentlemen pull from their local river or pond able to be fileted? It would allow most of the large & medium bones to be removed at once. The filets could then be cut into their soup or gravy. Fileting would be a good skill for the gentlemen to learn or pass on to their wives.

I gave it a like, only because these guys loved it. Otherwise I would have not giving it a thumbs up, because I will not eat any kind of fish or any other sea food. I distaste all of food coming from the sea, rivers, streams or ocean. It makes me violently sick. Even Babu who does not care for fish, loved this BBQ kind.

What is with the ketchup? There is a time and place for ketchup and this is not it. And I have seen this culinary sin here over and over.

It seems like everything in this Chanel is served with ketchup. Unless that’s barbecue sauce ? Why not have lemons or Tartar sauce ?

Please, give these men a fork and a knife! That's not the way to eat a dish, that is served in this style. I'm completely aware of the fact, that Indian or Pakistani dishes are mostly eaten with the fingers. Yes, that's tradition. But this dish is plated like a European one. So it's intentended to be eaten with European cutlery. When I eat East Asian food I use chopsticks to honour the food. When I eat Italian pasta I use a fork for the same reason. When I eat any kind of any Eastern, Western, African etc. soup I use a spoon. Please, try to tespect every cultures' table manners!

the issue is what they are comfortable with. a whole fish using a knife and fork without getting pin bones would be a tall order
@tubekulose
@tubekulose 2 года назад
@@toomanyaccounts I'd say the risk of getting pinbones is the same as it's pretty unlikely that you accidently cut pin bones with a fish knife and because they know the anatomy of fish they could avoid that but maybe I'm wrong.
