I always love when a performer 'colors inside the lines' for a good portion of the song, but then changes gears and says 'alright, let's go' and puts the pedal down. She did that here and we're all better for it.
Just wish she would stop promoting, what God said is an Abomination. We have alot of Christians today, straddling the fence, between good and evil. They refuse to come down off of that fence, and try to live in both worlds. We all need to pick which side we want to be on, and go all in on that decision.
Carrie is a Christian and doesn't hide her faith. When Vince was playing his solo she was facing Vince, she waa starting to cry. The spirit of God took over she didn't remember finishing the song. She's one of the best vocalist on the planet. Her voice is phenomenal and powerful.
True story. I strayed from the Church and my beliefs. Then one day I came across this video and just burst into tears. How I had missed the Lord and he reminded me that day he missed me too.
The Almighty placed his Loving hands on Vince Gill's fingers and made that guitar cry. Then transcended through Carrie's voice lifting everyone to their feet in the the middle of the performance...When you can feel the Holy Spirit in that house when you weren't even there, that's powerful. A'ho to that!!🙏 Brings me to tears every time and never gets old
Every time I hear this song on the radio it gives me chills. This song was my grandmother's favorite hymn. I see her smiling face when I hear Carrie sing it As for Vince, he is a fabulous, gifted singer (and guitar player). To respond to your statement 'how just a regular solo can be so heartfelt'.. as a fellow Christian, I sincerely believe it was God who put these 2 great artists together. You can see and feel his putting his whole heart and soul into his solo in which makes one REALLY FEEL his music ❤
On an interview given about this performance, Carrue stated that she was filled with the spirit, she did NOT remember until the end when people were on their feet and clapping. She truly sang a masterpiece dedicated to our God...
His guitar was singing, Carrie was sanging and never feel embarassed for music moving you, that is what it is meant to do. Amazing, her voice, her power, she will always move you.
Vince Gill " Go rest high on that moutain" He wrote it for his brother when his brother passed away. My familyalso played this song for my father at his funeral. Its a great song
He started writing it when Keith Whitley, hence the Keith Whitley song reference in the first verse. Then he finished it a few years later after his brother passed.
I'm sorry for your loss. It was also played at my father's funeral. I still can't get through it without bawling my eyes out. This year will make 16 since his passing. 😥
You said you’re embarrassed? That’s the best rendition of that song I’ve ever heard. It’s that brought tears to your eyes. You should be proud and praise God.
It's so powerful a solo because Vince is a believer and so is our Carrie a believer. They are singing and playing for the Lord and we got the privilege to listen in.
Seb - Vince Gill has 22 Grammy's. He is known as one of the best guitarists out there. On top of that, he is a singer and songwriter extraordinaire. He was a member of Pure Prairie League before going out on his own and right now, he is performing with the Eagles for fun. Thank you for your reactions!
Carrie and Vince’s rendition has moved me since the first time I heard it. I cry every single time. I couldn’t stop myself from crying, even if I’d try. She sang for God, not the audience and it can be felt. My grandpa, a Pastor and lifelong follower of Christ just passed a few days ago. This was among the songs we played for him during his final hours on Earth.
Don't be embarrassed. It's a magical thing when music is so beautiful that it reaches the core of your heart and touches your soul. Never wish that away.
Augh! Do NOT be embarrassed! It is a moving song and Carrie and Vince did it perfectly. Carrie has a whole album of old fashioned gospel hymns that's stunning.
How do you not know Vince Gill? He’s a living legend. One of country musics greatest. Also a world renowned guitarist. And finally one of the nicest guys in Nashville. Many many many awards from Grammys to ACMs and CMA’s. Look him up. I enjoy your channel. :-)
Two of the greatest artists of all time!! He has gone into Bluegrass and that is pretty much where he performs now. That to me is one of the most powerful Hymns of all times and the Way that they perform it is almost beyond belief.. I love it so much.. I don't think you could listen and not be moved!!!!
Praise and Worship at its finest! I’ve listened to this hundreds of times, I still have tears half way through it. How Great Thou Art? How Great They Art???
Vince Gill is also touring with The Eagles in 2023. His song “When I Call Your Name” is absolutely beautiful among so many other hits he’s had. Definitely worth a dive into his catalog.
I wouldn’t even need to see Vince Gill, to know it was him playing guitar. He’s so gifted. I grew up singing this hym in church…this was phenomenal and made me emotional 🙏🙏
No need to be embarrassed. I have seen this video a dozen times and she makes be ball every time. Carrie Underwood may be the best of all time and seeing her do this song is a very deeply moving experience. Vince gill is a true star on his own as a singer and guitar picker. Great to c u react the same way I do and thanks for not stopping the song to react like so many other reactors do.
So, I am not religious, but I’ve listened to her sing this on many recordings and have even watched her perform this live… it’s magic every time. Her voice takes you to another world, she’s incredible
You seriously need to listen to more Vince Gill. He is the total package. Songwriter, beautiful vocals and one of the best guitar players of all time. I love him I feel everything he feels when I hear him sing or play. One of a kind.
The reason this is so emotional is because Carrie sings from a heart of faith in what she is singing. Never be embarressed when you are genuinely touched by something that you find beautiful. I would be more bothered if you didn't react. Love your reactions!
I grew up singing southern gospel with my family and my daddy would sing this and it gets me every time I hear it. I'm almost 53 years old and this one still brings me to my knees.
Carrie a few years later did "Softly and tenderly" for the In Memoriam section for the CMA's. That is super powerful too. A year or so ago, she released a full album of her doing hymns. Check that out.
Every time I went to my Dad’s before he passed, we watched this. We played it at his funeral. There is no need to be embarrassed when music touches your soul. 🤗 my dad said, “that’s not singing, that’s worship!”
That was the Country Music Academy (CMA) awards show. The audience was EVERYONE who is anyone in country music. To get that sort of response from the very top performers of your craft must have been something very special to Carrie and Vince.
Vince Gill = Legend Carrie Underwood = Legend Hard to go wrong! I’ve always sworn you can literally see the Spirit move right through her here. Stunning. As always- great reaction; appreciate you! Stay safe & love much💖
Carrie is incomparable & so Vince Gill. He has an amazing voice himself. And the beauty of country music stars is that they support each other like no other genre. They sit in the audience at awards shows & sing along with every song performed. They jump up & do group stuff together at a moment's notice & they do duets with each other all the time. County folks are patriotic & loving and loyal to each other, to God & to country.
Don't worry we all bawl when we watch it!! : ) I love that they share God's gift with all of us. Most amazing performance ~ my favorite of all time! Love your RU-vid! Thank you!
Seb, ever since I came across your channel, I have been waiting for you to react to this . I knew your action would be so genuine because of your love for our Savior. If people don't get in their feels when they hear this, they need to pray a little harder. This is nothing unusual for country artist to have gospel songs in their song list. Carrie Underwood is very open about her faith as are most country artist. GOD bless you and your beautiful family
Vince Gill is an amazing guitar player! Everyone always mention his song Go Rest High on the Mountain, but his songs from the 90's are absolute gold. Whenever I Call Your Name is perfect, seriously Look At Us and I Still Believe in You are two of the most beautiful love songs, and testaments to love.
My reaction is the same as yours every time I hear this song, a I could still listen to it over and over! I grew up singing this song in Church, and I still react to it the same way every time. ❤
This, to me, is one of the greatest performances ever! I get chills ever time I hear it! Carrie also delivers an amazing performance with the hymn “Softly and Tenderly” at the 51st CMA awards for their ‘ In Memoriam’ segment.
It's okay man just sit back and listen to it and enjoy she has one of the most amazing female voices of her time I'm 56 years old hear her sing this I tear r up as well
Vince is one of my all time favorite artists. He has an amazing voice, sings like an Angel. He can also play guitar in bluegrass style. He wrote the song “go rest high on that mountain” in remembrance of his brother who passed and a talented artist Keith Whitley who also passed (and you should also check out)
Truly my favorite version of this song...I've watched it over and over and cry each time. Thank God for this life with its ups and downs. God bless all of you here.
Talk about being taken to church. There will never be anyone to do this piece better than these two. To get a standing O with a minute left, says how great this performance was. My eyes start sweating any time I hear this.
That's not just listening to a song. That is an earthmoving experience. I've saved that video and listen to it all the time. I LOVED your reaction. I tear up every single time. Ya man, that was Vince Gill. You've just heard the best.
This song makes me cry every time I hear it regardless of who does it but this version .... well, I just know God smiled when he heard them sing!!!!! Vince Gill's song, Whenever You Come Around, is mostly responsible for me and my husband getting together!!!! I still have chills and tears when I hear it. I lost him 6 years ago and I still feel that tingle in my stomach when I hear that songs and close my eyes!!!! These two are just awesome!!!!!! God is great!!!! BTW, I love a man who is passionate about God and not afraid to show it!!!!!
