Love this song. Only Lisa Lane can sing this. I listen to this periodically throughout the year, and numerous times now thru December. What a voice. NO ONE can come close to rockin' this the way Lisa does. She nails it.
The most beautiful Christmas song ever! Far superior than the one that radio personalities say is the most popular of all time. This song always makes me very emotional; Lisa Layne sings it SO spectacularly! It's been my very favorite since the first time I heard it on the radio years ago. They definitely don't play it as much as they should on the radio! The copycat singers who do this song don't even come close either; they lack beauty, soul, feeling, and depth. Thank you, Lisa Layne and Vince Vance, for this epic Christmas song!
I love this song so much ♥️💕🎶❄️. The Mariah Carey’s version dominates the airwaves but it’s nothing compared to Lisa Layne and Vince Vance & the Valiants original song.
I have had them sing at a Christmas party at my venue some years back after hearing them at a medical conference in 1993. It was a new song at the time. I had them at my venue after starting it in 2004. What an impression they left.
Oh so painfully sweet... and poignantly stated. Thanks for recording this and letting us all listen. My wife’s favorite Christmas song... and it can be sung by no one else.
Lisa has had a very successful career singing. Many years in Branson as Patsy Cline. Sings regularly in the Dallas/Ft Worth area with her banc, One Lane Road. She can sing anything and does it well. She's a friend.
Lisa Layne owns this pretty song! And after many years, her voice is still incredible and she can still sing it beautifully. It's my favorite secular Christmas song of all time. Thanks for posting it for us.
How ironic. It's December 17, 2023, and my wife asked me again what I wanted for Christmas this morning. She does every year, and I always answer, "Nothing." Now, at 71, it's a true answer. This year, I gave an answer, though. I told her I had everything I needed because I had her, and that was all I wanted. I know it sounds corny but true. And this evening on the radio, I heard this song, which now I'll send to Dawn. Merry Christmas, everyone💕
To those comparing Lisa Layne and Mariah Carey, they are too completely different songs. They just have the same title. That being said I prefer Lisa's song by far. The song is great and her performance is beyond amazing!! I never get tired of listening to it!!!
I guess the lyrics have a little resemblance. The only other thing to analyze would be key progression. It is not impossible for some borrowing to occur but the "new" version is better than the so-called original. One of the older cases of such "borrowing" is Mozart and Clementi for the theme that Mozart used in the Magic Flute overture. Clementi's Op. 24, No. 2 was performed in his music "duel" in 1781, and Mozart kept the theme in his mind for a few years(although he expressed much disdain for Clementi in his letters) and then cooked up the "hit" that was the Magic Flute with his librettist.
If you compare the story lines plus the music composition, melody of both songs. An argument can be made that the older song could've had direct influence on Mariah Carey's song of the same title. However, being Mariah is so skillful & knowledgeable of songwriting & copyright law it can be argued that she was careful to avoid writing any part of the melody of Vince Valiant's song. Thus, it's very difficult to prove that she violated his song in any form or fashion via copyright infringement. Note: As a professional songwriter, I can make such an analogy with authority.
My cousin is a real songwriter with quite a few #1 hots he has written and/or produced, including one for Aretha, and he says you are full of it and a hack.
This Is still the go to Christmas song when it comes to All I want for Christmas & Yes MARIAH Stole rhe concept even the title.. Pay up MARIAH and admit you borrowed the whole concept . MERRY CHRISTMAS
Others have tried to cover this Christmas classic. The best I heard were mediocre at best. However Lisa Layne owns this song. Period. IF a better rendition exists then speak now or forever hold your peace. My opinion only. Not sorry one bit.
Mariah Carey song sounds nothing like this one yet Mariah Carey has a lawsuit against her for her Christmas song from whoever was involved in making this song that i commented on 😳
