I am surprised to see that the developer of this game has given me, the consumer, the ability to adjust the frequency of Bubsy's verbal output. This video game is indeed a splendid experience, perhaps even the highest quality game ever designed. I ask of the people here is this comment section, please, do not replicate my statement by adding more detailed vocabulary, and please do not do so in a string of comments.

In the game known as "Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back" which is a continuation of the Bubsy franchise, their is an option at the bottom of the settings to adjust the intervals of time between how much the main character, "Bubsy" says a phrase, this would put "Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back" in the highest quality video game tier. I humbly request any other homosapiens viewing this written post to not reply to it by typing out another post with verbosity that is greater then what I am currently using, if one fellow patron of this comment section does then so not repeat after him, forming a so called "comment chain" in which multiple people respond to eachother one after another in the comments section.

After Bubsy 3D, it should have been clear that Bubsy isn't a financially successful character that can live beyond the 90's. This game looks bad... but it was still funded, developed, and released as a finished product. This went beyond the planning phase! Somebody approved of Bubsy's return! Many more characters, franchises, or games are more beloved and successful than Bubsy... but Bubsy sees the light of day. Hell, I thought Accolade was dead up until I heard about this new Bubsy game!

Fun fact: The reason bubsy is in a dessert is because back when bubsy was “popular” bubsy got a Taco Bell partnership and sense tacos are affiliated with Mexico and Mexico has desserts they put bubsy in a cartoon pilot and the setting was a dessert and I guess they wanted to be consistent with the serious bubsy lore so that’s why bubsy is in a dessert level

Agreed. I honestly wanted this to be good. Instead, it's mediocre, and is seen as so good, it's average by everyone. It's still better than the older games, but if Accolade ever wants to truly revive Bubsy and try to redeem him, they're gonna have to do better than this.

This. The game definitely needs more worlds as two is nowhere near enough. Where is snow level? Beach level? Sky level? Or i don't know. candy level or something? Also Accolade shouldn't be so greedy when it comes to money because let's face it, it's a Bubsy game they're trying to sell.

It feels like Accolade were trying to develop a more full, developed, and potentially higher quality Bubsy game but then they ran low on money and decided to ship as soon as possible. My only explanation for why it feels unfinished and launches so close Mario Odyssey and CoD.

Probably. The developers they hired Black Forest did the Giana Sister's games which were both good and pretty long titles. They probably didn't have the funding to make a longer game

I haven't played them myself, but while Twisted Dreams received good reception, Dream Runners and 2D did not fare so favorably, Giana Sisters 2D in particular looking oddly like a bog-standard phone game. Rogue Stormers, something Black Forest have been working on for over a decade off and on, is sitting at mixed reviews on Steam, and their earlier title, Helldorado also got poor critical reception. It seems to me like Black Forest has only put out one game in its entire run that got a particularly positive critical reception, in 2012, but even in the same genre have done consistently poorly since then. All of their 3D sidescrollers share an artstyle, which I suspect is done in order to let them recycle assets and cut development costs(this isn't an accusation, mind, just tossing up the possibility). In short, it seems like Accolade chose this studio to develop their new game because they're cheap, not because they're particularly good, but if Rogue Stormers is anything to go by, development setbacks are, for some reason, the name of the game in Black Forest, leading to an overly short project that feels unfinished because Accolade didn't want to or simply didn't have the dosh to shell out to continue development. They'd probably have been better off founding a studio in house at this point.

Yes it is bad, really. With all the good platformer games from recent years, this has no reason to exist. It's floaty, simplistic, boring, visually mediocre with generic music, and the level design is just garbage. The guys behind this game made Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, that I only consider pretty good when others say it's awesome. But it's leagues above this cashgrabing, meme-expoiting piece of shit. In every single way. Visuals, music, design, gameplay.

So you're saying it's mediocre then. Really, if this were _bad_, it'd look a lot worse than it does. I'm seeing a decent game here; one that looks actually fun to play, and a decent challenge. Controls look fair, there's a challenge in finding and collecting everything, the level design and extra items allow for you to explore a little. Actual bosses with an actual point. There's something about the game that makes it feel 'distant', but flat out calling it bad is entirely ignoring what actual _bad_ is. I found it stupid enough that Joel even had to apologize for arguing the game is alright, when that's exactly what it is.
