Mr. Porkchop remember when nintemdo said BOTH versions would have their own exclusive characters? Toon link was only on 3ds as well as wii fit trainer but then they got stupid and changed it to all versions having the same characters.

jimworld7070 if you check the earliest gameinformer article on the game there is a section talking about the exclusive characters for the versions. They even gave examples like toon link and wii fit trainer and duck hunt being exclusive. They never brought up the wii u version's exclusive characters. They must have changed their minds some time after that came out.

Kind of, Simon doesnt even punch at all in Smash , he mostly relies on his whip and items there while in here is very physical

I can imagine the devs might have wanted to save up character slots for dudes that aren't already in Smash, which would also explain the absence of someone as basic as Link as fully playable in a Famicom-themed fighting game.

Would he play any differently to Ness though? Could either even be considered a character? You can argue that with Lucas, but not with Ninten or Ness *that* much.

Well yeah. Ninten and Ness both have incredibly different types of PSI attacks. Whereas Ness has a bit of a neutral ground with some healing moves and some attacks like PSI Lifeup, flash, or his signature move that can be named by the player (the normal name is just PSI Rockin). PSI Fire or thunder were not in his move set though. Don't know why he has them in Smash when there was plenty of other things to pick. Ninten is much more of a physical fighter, with no offensive PSI whatsoever. He does have access to moves such as Healing, Magnet, Hypnosis and Shield though. But clearly Sakurai has shown that not using moves strictly from a characters moveset in their game isn't an issue.

That's a dynamic though that I'd argue Ness and Lucas perform in Smash already, although at this stage, that's just straying from the point I was originally trying to make. I'm not gonna split hairs over this, because quite frankly, I don't even have enough experience in Mother to stand on in an argument, so I'll take your word for it. All I'm saying is that the Mother games are already represented in Smash Brothers, one of the most massive crossover fighting game franchises on the market, so I appreciate how Famicom Fighters makes alot of it's roster up from fighters that have a chance somewhere between a 1/1.000.000 and none whatsoever to get into any games anymore, let alone Smash.

It's a display error that Thonolan's movelist is showing Mario's supers because the attempts to pull off supers with him clearly show that Thonolan doesn't have the same supers as Mario. Hopefully, they've fixed this already.

Well, he could've put Little Mac in. Problem is, most Punch-Out characters for Mugen (If not all) use the original sprites, therefor don't fit. Y'know, different perspectives But I'm sure in due time we'll see him, it's such an obvious roster pick
