Mario Land Minigame Mayhem is seriously EXCELLENT, I'm still waiting for it to get the recognition it deserves. There's a ton of *good* Mario fangames off MFGG as well, like that one, Psycho Waluigi, Abducted Toad, Toadette Strikes, Super Mario Stardust, SMB Dimensions, SM64+, and the latest demo for Midas Machine. I know you can't have as much silliness with a showcase of things that are just genuinely good but I hope we acknowledge that!
I remember looking forward with a lot of anticipation to the release of the game and then it dropped and I wasn't aware of it, felt so upset but honestly worth it from what I've heard of the earlier builds. Definitely one of my favorite Mario fangames, I love to revisit it from time to time, there's so much charm to that game! Also, shoutout to the TerrorMario! games, they are pretty cool but seems like they never got past the demo phase... Oh and also Mario Party 2 Play which is also an amazing minigame compilation in it's own right (alongside an actual working board mode to boot!)
45:18 - Hearing a low quality parody of Sting's 'Englishman in New York' but with the lyrics changed to be about an "alpha male in a vegan world" really makes me appreciate how the universe came about to help bring us this masterpiece.
it's from a british lolcow called "callum's corner" who got mad at vegans - you may know him from yelling about his head looking like a tic tac, well known from the 2016 british youtube sphere lmao
@@AnAshenSpirit Genuinely never heard of the bloke, but I like how his two most popular videos on his channel are "MY HEAD DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A SODDIN TIC TAC" and "My head does look like a soddin tic tac. You win. I give up."
32:53 Lyrics Verse 1: I'd to be, under the sea In an octopus's garden, in the shade Verse 2: Two plus two is four, you stupid wh🥵re But it won't let me press the buttons, anymore Verse 3: I can't do anything, chat, it won't let me I'm clicking, (Beans and burgers) oh (Beans and burgers, Beans and burgers) One'O two? [Preformed by Vinny Vinesauce]
This exact type of segment really brings me back. It's fun to absorb the crust, but also fun to note their strong sides- there's a fair share of incredible gameplay ideas, with my personal favorite being one from a few years back starring a body-snatching Purple Coin. I'd love to see the sort of things these people have moved on to creating nowadays!
@@dysr thing about the british shenanigans was that 4 of the fangames in this pack (maridows, all brothers must die, essence of waluigi, and mrpence) were made by the same person, ralorche, who's british lol
Games and experiences like Maridows 64 that you saw on peak 2000s internet are something that kids these days will never get to experience, especially now that Flash is dead. I loved that part of this segment, gave me some Newgrounds nostalgia
I made Wario DS for the MFGG Game Jam last year and didn’t really think much of it afterwards. Seeing it here brought back a ton of memories from the development of it and I had quite a bit of fun working on it during the 3-4 days that I did.
Vinny, the reason why 'Melissa' from Porno Graffiti (the anime song) might sound familiar is because it was used as an opening for Final Fantasy Sonic X
The amusement park game was super charming. It's nice to see a non-RPG fangame using M&L assets that isn't cheap shovelware ^_^ Edit: Or, uh... the game immediately after it, I guess ^_^;
I can't describe how happy I am to see Vin play more janky fangames. His old Mario fangame streams are some of my favorites and they've become very nostalgic to me.
I just suffered through a 40 minute video of a child reading a boring comic where all that was happened was people talking to each other with dull character design, a crappy camera and I couldn’t tell who was talking because his voice was monotone and all the characters looked the same.
23:56 Hooooly crap, I did NOT... expect a clip from Stupid Mario Brothers. The Waluigi one that says "I'm gonna make-a you wish you never left the Mushroom Kingdom". That takes me waaay back. :P It's an old RU-vid series. EDIT: 32:08 And there's a freakin' screenshot from Stupid Mario Brothers-- what is going on here?
Nintendo should make F-Zero GX remastered. Sega developing it and super monkey ball being at its peak at the time was like lightning in a bottle and we've never seen anything like it ever since.
obsesesd with hte graphics in essence of waluigi like the old 3d render look for waluigi ('s essence??) especially. its really funny to contrast the kind of moody vibe with doofy sm64 sounds maridows is literaly the most british game on the planet im also surprised it was made within this decade (theres a checkpoint flag from mario maker)

I don't know if it was 100% this, but that Waluigi voiced line in Essence of Waluigi "I'm gonna make you wish you never left the mushroom kingdom." Might've been ripped from this old dumb RU-vid comedy series, Stupid Mario Brothers.
fr that mario minigame collection feels like it could've been released for windows in early 00"s like those countless licensed kids' minigame collections that came out during that era
The music at 1:17 was (as far as I can tell) a sped up mp3 file of the round beginning in PAC-MAN. It was used a lot in the 2000s and was used in a Scratch 1.0 starter game, also called PAC-MAN. That scratch game is nearly lost to time, however I have a copy of it with Scratch 1.4. I will include a link to it*. *Whenever I feel like it
I like how VInny calls Minigame Mayhem nostalgic. Well, back then it wasn't nostalgic, it was current. The reason it's full of Superstar Saga graphics & sounds is because Superstar Saga had like just come out. Or it had when development started. I seem to recall it took Kritter like 5+ years to finish that game.
