It was developed in mere months for the 32X, which was already on the way out, never mind the strangeness of a Japanese studio releasing on a peripheral mostly pushed by Sega of America. Tempo was followed up with a much more polished Saturn sequel, so some consider it a cult classic.

17:21 - Just to clear things up, the relationship between Miyamoto and Plok is as follows: Ste and John Pickford showed this game to Nintendo to see if they'd be interested in publishing it. Miyamoto really liked it, but since they were close to releasing Yoshi's Island at the time, Nintendo ultimately decided the two were too similar to publish at the same time. That's it. Any rumors of inspiration/theft this game might have had are very much unfounded. Miyamoto was impressed with the soundtrack, but I'm not sure where the "he wanted it checked" thing came from.

The amount of B-Grade mascots that have been released over the years is insane, but I really appreciate having them around. Makes the game industry a lot more colorful. Wouldn't mind seeing a sequel stream for this with Dynamite Headdy, Ristar, Rocket (Robot on Wheels), or maybe even Cheesy and Mort the Chicken if he's willing to stomach the mascots that were definite failures.

On one hand I'm glad the clips of games like Rocket Knight, Aero, Dynamite Heady, etc. weren't included because they either weren't forgotten or weren't even attempts at mascot games and were also quality games. On the other hand, it sucks that they weren't included because it means they get less publicity. Such is the curse of the 90s videogame market I suppose...

I’m only saying this because it’s 11:30 at night and I can’t get it off my mind. I want to ask...or complain...if the Wild Woody boss music reaction clip is in this compilation because it stands out as something notable for some reason, then by that same logic why isn’t the Plok music reaction clip in it too, but I already know the answer. It’s because one of these clips better encapsulates what Vinesauce appeals to than the other (Which is humor) and there isn’t enough room for it. Now I’m gonna go give that pirate music a listen.

I remember being on a Nintendo Tournament ten years ago, where a music quiz took place. There was like that one track, no one ever heard but one brave gamer rose his hand and screamed from the depths of his throats: "PLOK!" The Plok story is absolutely true. The music was done by Tim Follin, who is an absolute wizard with old sound chips. The people who made the things didn't even know how he made them do what he did. He made the music for NES Silver Surfer, Solstice, and NES Pictionary. All his tunes are prog anthems, wich sound great for the tech they're playing on, but he caught a lot of flak, since they almost never sound right for the game they're playing in, so he no longer composes for games.
