Its crazy that when Vinny mentioned his school nightmares they were surprisingly similar to mine! I can never remember what specific class but my worst school nightmare has me realizing I haven't attended a class for months and that I need to finish all of my homework before the big test taking place later that week. My entire time as a student and I don't think I've ever even skipped a class though! The last few times it happened I managed to realize that I was dreaming before my stress levels got too high and woke up.

The oddest vending machine I've ever encountered was at a food hall a friend of mine and I like to stop at sometimes. The vending machine sold: small ziplock bags of random pokemon cards, single VHS tapes with and without their covers, and tacky novelty items like bacon scented soap.

An interesting thing about Patrick Bateman and Travis Bickle is people will often identify with those characters without realizing the social commentary. Like Travis Bickle is about the alienation people feel in their everyday lives potentially leading them to do horrible things in a warped sense of justice. He's sympathetic because that really does happen to people, but it's not a good thing. It's a sign of a broken system. Patrick Bateman was kinda about the utter depravity of the ruling class and the casual way the rich and powerful can basically get away with treating people like bugs. Ironically tho, those people are also alienated from the world around them in that they've walled themselves off thru their exploitation of others. Patrick seems to be aware of this on some level and it drives him crazy. But yeah these aren't good people. They're products of their environments as we all are and I think that's the point. The fact that you have young people identifying with this stuff just shows how sick our society is. These are the Frankenstein's monsters of capitalism.

What if Fatal Frame but also Backrooms. I like this game, it has really good pacing.

i think the whole "people aspiring to be characters" bit is really just a meme. yeah there are maybe some people out there that genuinely wish they could be senator armstrong i guess, but i'd say the vast majority of it is people just dicking around, or finding qualities about those characters that are actually likable/relatable and clinging to that.

I think ghost in the shell, the first movie, the one from the 90s, is the one he would like because BLADE RUNNER similarities. The AI having souls etc , plus the action and animation of Ghost in the Shell is absolutely phenomenal peak animation along Akira. Another something that Vinny could watch in the background and call himself an \anime connoisseur\ is cowboy Bebop. That's just got the sci Fi. But I'm not emailing him, in days his friends with good taste will culturize Vinny.

In a small town/part of The Hague next to the beach called "Kijkduin", there used to be (*could still be) a small souvenir shop with a clown vending machine outside. It (*not that it) told jokes for money. Complete with clown automaton.

I have seen a good pizza vending machine. If you happen to visit Hiroshima, look for Fukuromachi Park, about ten blocks south of Hiroshima Castle. On the south side of the park, in a little nook between buildings, there's a vending machine that will bake you a pizza over about five minutes. It won't be gourmet pizza, but expect about halfway decent frozen pizza quality. I got it once for the novelty, and it was pretty alright.

I travel with a group & none of us can tolerate sharing a room let alone a bed, so renting one house is cheaper & more comfortable than a hotel suite with 2 beds & a cot, or separate hotel rooms. I also cook to save money, so a hotel kitchenette won't cut it. I also find that house rentals are a helluva lot cleaner, & you don't have to put up with noise from people above or next door.

51:46 Well, tbf, Armstrong in MGR:R was really persuasive and written pretty nicely as a character. Even if you don’t agree with him, you can’t deny he had good points. The game built everything up to the final battle in a pretty good way and the music accompanying the whole thing was phenomenal. As for Banjo from Banjo Kazooie, you can learn from him just by knowing what happened. He slept in for the morning and woke up to his sister kidnapped by a witch who wanted her youth, does no bullshitting in starting his journey to save her with Kazooie who was an absolute big help, while saving a bunch of other people in the process. Plus, in the title screen, you could see Banjo cooking up something presumably for everyone in the house which was really sweet.

When vinny mentioned "alot alot' of people live in new york, I thought "Well yeah its a city." A quick google search reveals that New York City alone has a third of the entire population of Australia, the country I live in. How could anyone stand being around that many people is beyond me. My entire state has 1.7 million people in a 379,725 square mile area. America is crazy.

Random aside about JFK. I've only ever been a driver to 3 accidents in my life, and 2 of them were at JFK. Both times I got rear-ended stopping at a stop-sign or light. Can confirm. JFK sucks. The third accident was a snow plow driving down the middle of a road at me during a sharp turn on a County Road and I had to swerve to avoid it, but the slush on the side of the road made me lose control and fall down a ditch.

Fun Vending Machine fact; the first vending machine was invented around ~2000 years ago, to dispense holy water! By a guy literally named Hero of Alexandria. He also invented the first syringe and steam engine, so he was a pretty important guy for someone you've never heard of. The holy water cost a 5 drachm coin, or somewhere in the ball park of 250-300$ in equivalent value today. So expensive purchases have always been a thing with vending machines. Even when they caught back up in popularity 16 centuries later, they sold cigars and tobacco, so still a rather expensive option. (Though, since instead of dispensing cigars or tobacco, they opened up and let you choose your selection, they were known as "honor boxes", because if you lacked some, you could get quite the bang for your buck (or Shilling))
