So we got one Mario game that’s REAL faithful to its original counterpart, and we got another Mario game that’s so off the wall that it can be its own thing. What more can a Mario fan ever ask for!? ❤

Oh yeah that music is 100% Yoko Shimomura, sounds EXACTLY how I'd imagine her remaking her old tracks... which by that I mean it sounds like if Kingdom Hearts had a Super Mario RPG world. And I mean that LOVINGLY.

Very happy for Geno fans everywhere, not even k rool and ridley fans had to wait this long.

What I’m really intrerester in is the translation. People who played Mario RPG will remember that the translation was just as janky as any SNES Squaresoft RPG. You may remember enemy names like “THE Big Boo”, place names like “Yo’ster Isle”, and items like the “noknok shell” (nokonoko is the Japanese name for koopa troopas) It could be interesting to see the game with the dialogue retooled and the translation more in line with the original intent/what we know from the Mario series.

They got the character sizes anatomically correct, they got the jazz band, they got our boy Geno. The hop animations!! *We are so fucking back.*

Dont forget, Link and Samus also appear in this game! In fact, there she is along with some others you might recognize at 1:44

I legit cannot wait to see how they will tackle Culex in this remake. I hope they go full Final Fantasy with a crazy and over the top cutscene

I think they translated the graphical style of this game's designs of the characters pretty well into a 3D modeled format. It's faithful to the original. Though the proportions do seem a bit goofier now in this higher fidelity. But it works well.

I'm surprised this is even a thing considering SquareEnix has historically stymied Nintendo's attempts to do anything with this series. Did they finally pull their heads out of their asses? Also, music at 1:34 will never *not* make me think of Simpleflips.

It's the most flawless remaster of a game. Looks perfect.

You know what this means? Geno actually might have a chance of appearing in the next Smash for reals this time. Jokes aside this looks incredible. Super excited to play this again.

I do love how they are so faithful they kept the art style and color pallets to the point is does looks as if the original game had no pixel distortions, it’s such a fun embrace of uncanny old age visuals in the best way

This is ALL I needed...yet they managed to bring us a Peach sequel, ANOTHER Luigi remake AND a NEW Super Mario Bros 2-d platformer that's set to take everything we know and flip it on it's head! That + the Mario movie = easily the best year for Mario!

The music/montage from 1:34 had me grinning like a little kid. I can't wait to replay this gem

Is it weird that I always imagined a super Mario rpg remake to look like claymation? On the box and in the opening they looked like clay to me. That and the Japanese commercial used claymation.

This was a nice surprise and a very welcome one. Day 1!

I am so happy this is happening! This is definitely a day 1 purchase for me. I'd love if a unique post-game is added, but we are already getting treated well with the new music, the visuals, the animation and the cutscenes. I love how the new battle hud shows characters with their usual asymetric portrait. The attack names of enemies even display if they are blockable or not. There's also two added elements on the hud. The group FP is now always on-screen which is great. There's also a new meter on the left, which I'm guessing is for a Limit-break attack or an Omori-style group attack. Either way I can't wait to see more of it!

I hope this remake is like the Trials of Mana remake. Extremely faithful with a bit of extra content.

I never thought it'll be possible to see a remake since it was so long since the original game. I'm gonna surely enjoy this remake.

Haven't seen anything else from the direct but this is really all I need.

Super Mario RPG was the last game I bought with money my grandma gave me.

I think the biggest gain from this (I mean, pretty much all of it is a gain) is Geno being relevant again for the first time in almost 30 years. He might actually have a shot at being in more Mario games if this does well!

I'm hoping Square is letting up on Nintendo using the unique assets, and we see more of Geno and Boshi (among others) in the future. I made a bold prediction in another video that Geno would be made playable in MK8, Im sticking to it, and I wouldnt be surprised if its going to be the dlc courses released right before/after this game.
