I actually have the original cartridge for this still but it doesn't seem to work too well unfortunately. Maybe because the limited sale ended I don't know.

@@teecee1827 but it's evident that Sony isn't nearly as bad as Nintendo when it comes to consumerism. Sony always ports their classics to each console at a reasonable price, and no limited time bullshit. Nintendo has been heavily criticised for their "limited release" scam since the NES first came out in North America.

People don't realize just how much Mario Bros. 2 added to the franchise in terms of general enemies, level mechanics and bosses. Without that one game, the Mario franchise as a whole would be drastically different.

Could you imagine how different most people's childhoods would be if this All Stars was a limited 6 month release? It's so ridiculous what Nintendo is doing with the current 3D collection. I hope the original All Stars will stay on the SNES library after March 2021

@@geminisfl Another reason that the All-Stars+World version of World is better is that once you start a save file in the OG it can only be either 1 player or 2 player, whereas in All-Stars+World you pick before loading a save file instead of starting a new game.

Vinny is actually much better at games than most people give him credit for, especially ones that he has played before, or when he actually cares about what's happening and isn't just talking to chat and ignoring most of the game. It's just that people prefer to remember the times he plays badly because "funny pasta man bad at bideo gam haha"

The SNES And NES thing are the only few games I've been playing on my switch every day for the past 2 years it's weird knowing that other people are just like 'eh, it's OK I guess...' while to me (and probably some other people) this is what I've been wanting for so, so long since I first discovered emulators on mobile with fiddly touch controls.

@@jakkandjing I used to use controllers, in fact I actually used a sideways joycon with a broken rail locking mechanism just because it was compact and I could take it with me and shove it in my backpack when I used to have 3 hours between lectures a few years ago and play them while my friend played pubg (we were kind of sad in hindsight lol), but at the same time I hated the fact the screen was detached because I didn't have anything to prop up my phone. Obviously I'm kind of not playing the Snes and NES stuff much any more because of finishing most of the good ones but playing super metroid for the first time made me discover games like Blasphemous (which was released a few days after I finished super metroid, which was a nice surprise) and Kirby's dream course made me play tower unite golf on PC and I'm now officially addicted to that game and it made me want to play Super Monkey Ball on a gamecube emulator because of how much I liked Ball Race in tower unite then seeing the monkeys made me want to play Donkey Kong 64 for some reason and it's a viscious cycle god help me I'm going to die a virgin at this rate

Haven't seen anyone mention this but the music and sound effects in All Stars are ingrained in my mind, not because of All Stars, but because of the ridiculous amount of Mario Flash games I played when I was a wee lad

The SNES was my first console as a wee bab and Super Mario All-Stars was one of the games I had. However, as a child I never understood it's a compilation game made up of other games. We then sold the SNES and when I got older and spent more time on the internet I'd always see gameplay of the Mario games on the NES. And I thought "I had that game, I played it.", but there was always that "Didn't I?" Because it looked too old and graphically outdated. However, me owning the SNES had by this point been almost 10 years ago, so I couldn't just compare. I always thought my nostalgia just made Super Mario Bros. look a lot better than it really was, a feeling that I still have with many games. For example, I remember thinking Yakuza 0 was beautiful when it came out. I thought it was the absolute apex of graphical art style. Whenever I replay it now I cringe at the in-game models and how bad some of them tend to look.

We had this cartridge and for some reason if you pressed select after pausing it would cycle through the power ups in the games. I think we either accidentally unlocked a debug mode or just had a glitchy cartridge in a very beneficial way.

I feel like people would complain a lot less about 3-D All Stars if ANY of these things happened: •This bundle included Super Mario Galaxy 2 •Super Mario 64 got a visual update (Sunshine and Galaxy still look fine) •This was not leaked or hyped up for months prior, letting expectations fester and swell beyond what Nintendo was willing to put out. •It is not a timed exclusive (at least digitally)

Personally I’m most excited for Sunshine because it’s been GameCube Exclusive for almost 2 Decades and before the 35th Anniversary Nintendo always acted like the game never existed and hopefully it opens the door for more GameCube Ports but it’s wishful thinking. I own the GameCube Version but an error always occurs during the cutscenes where FLUDD gets stolen from you.

Well, not only was the Wii capable of playing Gamecube games, but they've ported Twilight Princess, Wind Waker and Metroid Prime Trilogy to Wii-U.

During the gamecube era a lot of spinoffs made heavy references to Sunshine, like superstar Baseball for the Gamecube Mario's story mode team is all Piantas and Nokis and a lot of the team names reference it. Mario Kart Double Dash refferences it in a couple of the tracks, and also has Peaty Piranha playable. They also gave it a stage in Smash Bros Brawl as well as made Fludd Mario's down special. Also Bowser Junior's final Smash in Smash 4 is a direct refference to Super Mario Sunshine. They haven't really tried to bury it, it was just hard to rerelease because it relied on the gamecube controller's analog triggers. Making it hard to port without completely changing how some of the game mechanics work.

To be honest, I think both 64 & Sunshine should've gotten an remake treatment they deserve. I can understand not remaking the Galaxy games since they still hold up remarkably well & still one of; if not, the best 3D Mario game ever & one of the best games of all time. It just needs an different control schemes & an little tweak here & there. That's all. But I certainly would've liked an 64 & Sunshine remake really badly & it's sad we didn't get it in this collection. Oh well.

mario maker 2 does not have moving platform tracks that are not locked to 45 degree angles, doesn't have certain enemies, and a number of other things still missing. entire floors and ceilings that move up and down are still not in MM2.

Super Mario all stars is a god of a game, I remember playing the Mario games in order growing up and when my mother got this game for me and my mind literally was blown by the selection and the updated graphics and music. Used to play these games and others with my mother and uncle, those times where probably my happiest moments growing up and listening to my moms cassette tapes of rock ect on the stereo and those days where amazing.

Absolutely the All-Star version of Mario 3. The only things that I don't like about the NES one is the floaty jump, it's difficulty curve & not having an save feature. Also the color palate in the NES ones hurts my eyes an little.

1:27:11 I think the term vinny is looking for to denote puzzle games (like Tetris, Panel De Pon, Puyo Puyo, Dr. Mario, Wario's Woods, Meteos) from puzzle games (like Baba Is You, Portal, Stephen's Sausage Roll, The Talos Principle, The Witness, Braid, Snakebird) is "Puzzler", which he used earlier but seemed to have forgotten it, lol.

This reminded me of some nice memories, my mom loved Tetris Attack as well, I grew up watching her blast through the story mode and she always got real excited when she pulled off massive combos lol

Super Mario 35 and Battle Royale are two completely different things. Super Mario 35 resembles Tetris 99, while Battle Royale is nothing more than a glorified fan game. Nintendo would only do fan games if they were made by employees of Nintendo HQ.

i grew up with snes allstars and played gba mario 2 much later, and the voices have grown on me. they could have sounded not so horribly crusty, but they were ok.

I have very fond memories of playing this as a bab on my mom's SNES. We had the same version, without World. We had a separate copy of World. My mom has a ton of games for her SNES and NES. All of the good ones with some strange ones mixed in. She had a gold LOZ cart before someone stole it. The All Stars cart is mixed in with all of the others. Maybe my mom will give me her NES and SNES. She gave me all the N64 games she had.

Unpopular Opinion: Doki Doki Mario 2 is the only game in the collection that actually looks and sounds good with the 16 bit treatment. the other games just don't sound or look good at all compared to their 8 bit counterparts.

Wow, a secret Panel de Pon stream? But it isn't my birthday! But seriously, that was a nice surprise. I've put over 15 hours into Panel de Pon on Switch Online already (as it's one of my favorite Super Nintendo games), and I'm even a part of the Panel de Pon Discord, so I'm glad that Vinny seems to enjoy it.

Nintendo could’ve easily added the ROM for the All-Stars & World version of this game, but the intern didn’t know that it existed and that it was different from the normal World, so they just went with the first result

37:12 - Actually, they were considering way back in 86 whether or not to localize the game, and Nintendo didn't because they thought it would be too hard for audiences outside of Japan and back then, they were worried about their image and game sales since the industry had just recovered from the video game crash of 83.
