Is Majka injured? Seems like a bad decision to leave him off the Tour squad considering his consistency in the mountains and his unwavering commitment to working for Pogi. Ayuso and Almeida are talented though inconsistent.
I'm not the first in these comments to wish for daily TdF analysis videos from Dan Lloyd. He managed to squeeze in pivotal race highlights and tactical analysis in 13+ minutes, whereas the entire commentary team at Peacock had a 7+ hour broadcast to do the same and fell short at many key moments. RIP GCN+ for race broadcasts but really glad to have access to the GCN+ Originals again via the subscription platform. Totally worth it.
Thank you for the compliment. It's always easier to do good analysis when the dust has settled and you have time to dissect everything. Hopefully we'll find a way to do daily analysis in the future, but for the time being I'll do my best with this weekly show. Dan
Pog attacked almost at the top of the climb when the gradients had eased up, so we shouldn't read too much into his inability to distance Vingegaard. At most, it shows that Jonas is not uncompetitive, as many had speculated he could be.
We have yet to see how jonas is in the high mountains but we'll see tomorrow. 23km climb over 2600m. That's a serious climb. Seeing him with Pogi on stage 2 was good to see tho. It's a sign he's good but will he be good enough to fight for yellow for 3 weeks? I think he will 🤘🏻🏴
So with the mention of Cillian Kelly and his stats at 9:51, does that mean he's back at GCN? He posted on X/Twitter that he was no longer at GCN last month and looking for a job. Hoping he's back with a more expanded job at GCN.
Stage 2 coverage on the last climb is terrible. They should have 4 split screen to see where they are and the guy who won the race. Because we can't really see what happen with the other contender.
that was never in the cards in my opinion, you could see last year he not on that level isnt he also just too old now so its going the wrong direction from him?
Need i remind everyone, last year Pog had a very interrupted preparation for the tour, yet for a week and a half he matched Vinegar, and indeed at one stage dropped him. Only to be found wanting for true condition in the last half. This will happen with Vinegar, only he can't drop Pog. Wouldn't get carried away kiddies!
Jonas and Visma team are doppers! Cheaters! I always said it and today in the live stream they found a spectator from Denmark who bragged about how he knows Jonas very good from teenage years when they rode together for local teams but then unintentionally ousted Jonas saying that he was always below average rider who constantly got dropped and then started getting really good after he was 18. Hahaha, I knew it. You can make a case against Tadej, but Tadej was always extraordinary. He had to compete in categories higher to have challenge. I raced in Slovenia, Austria and Italy in the 90s and you'd never see a champ coming out of being average. I was never average and all those that were champion material, we'd never get dropped. The fact that Jonas suddenly rose to power and fame is just the Visma LAB thing. Lab specifically. It's very obvious, but lots of fresh cyclists are popping up following this sport and thus they're easily impressed and persuaded that Jonas is a special guy, that Wout is a special guy, that Roglic is a special guy, that Jorgenson is a special guy. That the entire Visma from 2022 and 2023 were amazing! Sure, amazing at gobbling concoctions from their LAB. Ain't no way Wout who's from a completely different world, cyclocross can perform at such high speeds as road cyclist specialists and sprinters. No way Roglic comes into cycling way late from a completely unrelated sport discipline and under Jumbo becomes a champ of road racing. Talent? Sure, but much more science than talent is the game here. And Jonas from cold ass Denmark performs amazing in heat and gets better in the 3rd week of grand Tours. A bunch of garbage masking the fact he's dopped up because his team director is greedy as shit!!! And their dirty racing is disgusting. Last Tour they forced the peloton to wait for their injured riders who were not even GC while they had Wout in the breakaway who wasn't slowing down. When Jonas saw that Tadej was in pain from his wrist injury and was shaking his hand after they reached the top of a climb Wout and Jonas started accelerating into the descent and started dropping Tadej. Total BS team and they finally got their karma this year. And now they're tryina spy and stalk their contenders w/ their stupid van. Ugh, never despised anybody as much as I do them and their weasel Jonas who pretends to be humble and is everything but that for those that have the eyes to see. I could back anybody to win over Tadej but not this guy. Something's off about him ever since he got onto the scene and that's why the general consensus in the peloton is that nobody cares about him. Most tolerate him and that's it. And stop trying to brainwash me how Danes are just such humble quiet people. Blah, blah, blah. I said when Kuss won Vuelta that Visma will fall apart. You can't be so greedy to dope up everybody and then have too many top dogs racing for Jonas only. Kuss got a taste of fame and victory and that was enough. He don't want to waste his prime years to make others famous anymore. They made a huge mistake by letting him win. It was their downfall. And they should have never forced Primoz and Wout to be super domestiques. They trained them to be winners, so they're not happy to grind themselves to dust for others. It doesn't work that way.
The big question is can Jonas do the same in week 3? Pogi can! I really hope Jonas can, we don't need a repeat of the Giro which was great racing among the minions but Pogi was, as we know, head and shoulders above them.
Marvellous analyses Dan, much appreciated are your acute insights here, and thank you for educating a fan like myself… looking forward to more of these as the tour, classics and other things move into the future… thanks again.
people forget that this was how jonas won the last 2 tours - let pogi have the upper hand and overwork himself in the earlier parts of the race, and then creep up on him in the third week
In a way I am sure that this win by Bardet and van den Broek will remain the nicest , the most beautiful thing happening in this whole TdF -- for me personally !
Is the athor way around is pogachar is the one who is in his limid if pogachar was strong why he didn't atak the beginning the clim vingegaard look good is pogachar who is in back foot Insha Allah jonasvingagaar is going to win 🏆 the 💪 🏆 toure de france 🏆 💪 🇫🇷 2024 Insha Allah
All Pogačar did was test Vingegaard and see if he would follow him. That was a 40% Pogačar attack...Wait until week 2 and 3 to see his full strength and leave Vingegaard behind ;)
It would be embarrassing to lose to a rider who broke his collar bone, his shoulder blade, four ribs and a punctured lung staying in the ICU for 12 days, not even 3 months ago.
No he didnt want to pull cause pogacar would use that to attack him after he would pull. Ofc if vingegaard felt extremely confident maybe he would have done that, but maybe not even as he has tried that before and it backfires to pull pogacar. IE 6 stage last year.
Astana needs to learn to position themselves better. It feels like they always sleep when they should be getting space. They were trying, some elbows and shoulders were traded but they need to react earlier, not in the last 10k.
That's exactly what my comment was about also. By the 10km banner every sorint team was in position and pulling even GC teams were organised in the front also but I looked for Astana and they were scattered all through out the peloton. NO organisation 🤘🏻🏴
In my opinion, Abrahamsen may cope well with the shorter climbs; when they hit the real long climbs it will be a different story. Until then, he shines.
Does the future of the tour allow room for sprinters bikes? It just looks like bicycle design is moving away from sprinters bikes. I am sure my statement is wrong. Who is going to sprint at 60 psi and 28 tires?
What do you mean by sprinters bikes? Bikes are certainly changing, we've spoken about this on our Tech Show 👉ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WFpLLZp7SKs.html
The peleton should do Cavendish a favour and gift him an easy stage, so he can own the record and withdraw as looks beaten. Unless! Its all a bluff and he comes flying out in Stage Four and absolutely obliterates with his Astana team! The sooner he has a crack at the record, the better for the race as we can focus on other storylines for upcoming cyclists, tactics. Plus Astana can focus on having a proper crack at other goals
But as for now the teams MAIN focus us is on Cav and getting him that #35!! They are all on board with it. It's the team goal. They came into the Tour knowing this was the primary objective!! Cavs real chances are stages 3, 6, 10, 16 🤘🏻🏴 🤘🏻🏴
Its a good "sign". That's all it is. It says he's good enough today. Tomorrow is 23km climb over 2600m elevation. That's HIGH mountains. A solid battle will take place there. I think he'll be very competitive tomorrow and probably be strong enough to battle for yellow all the way to Nice 🤘🏻🏴
@WerdnaLiten you and 99% of the population could train for it all you want and you still won't come anywhere near being able to do it. So yes, you should be surprised.
@@Andy_ATB because it's impressive. Some people try very hard and can't even hope to come close to these guys. And even before they started their crazy training regimens, they would still be instantly dropping all the rest of us mere mortals.
@@gcnracingI was actually going to commend you for doing it so well (at least the first couple times in the video - then I stopped paying any attention to phonetics). Doing it better requires learning how “stød” works, which is apparently really, really hard for foreigners ;)
