Podley really is a coward. He not only didn't give Scarlette's letter to Bobbery, causing him to grieve for many years; Decades even. Starving himself from what he loved, the sea. His actions also went against Scarlette's wishes, that she asked him on her death bed. All because he couldn't handle seeing a man who was in far much pain. A man who he considers a friend... I think we found the worst Mario character in the series.

@@drunkenskunkproductionsdsp8094 Whether he's the worst or not, I don't see any reason why anyone wouldn't give Bobbery the letter unless they wanted him to never recover. Podley had absolutely nothing to be scared of. The worst that could happen after giving Bobbery the letter would be Bobbery just ignoring it. Its not like he was gonna explode in Podley's face if Bobbery read the letter so I don't get Podley's reasoning at all.

Podley is such a terrible person that it sort of distracts from the story. I think a simple, effective rewrite could help it, though. Instead of Podley completely ignoring Scarlette's last request, write it so Bobbery finds the letter when he returns home, and being overcome with grief, is unable to read it, and throws it out ("I don't deserve the kind words she must have written", for example. He's melodramatic even when not in the throes of agony). Podley retrieves the letter and saves it all these years, and now that Bobbery's skills are needed, entrusts it to you to re-deliver it. Nothing huge, just a little tweak. Podley's cowardice would be a little more understandable in the context of him having seen Bobbery's initial reaction to the letter.

I always use Goombella since she can kiss Mario when fully upgraded and that's so hot. Jk but it is useful to give Mario an extra turn.

Goombella and Yoshi are typically considered the best, afterwards it's like Vivian and Koops.

Optimally it’s Goombella, Yoshi then Flurrie. Goombella with damage scaling has very high damage output with Multibonk and her rally is good. Yoshi has the best damage scaling by dealing max damage on first hit and reducing by 1 per consecutive hit. His gulp also has piercing. Flurrie has Gale Force and with the remake it now gives Star Points when dealing with enemies this way and can deal piercing damage with life drain that scales pretty well.

@@MrNutkip Goombella is broken if Mario is broken. Particularly, Danger and Peril Mario. You can one turn kill all bosses with Danger and Peril Mario, and Goombella basically reduces the grinding you'd do to accomplish this by half.

People need to realize that the Paper Mario series is very inconsistent on whether Bob-ombs actually survive their explosions or not. Some Bob-ombs die or are defeated upon explosion while some survive. I believe in the theory that our Partners Bombette and Bobbery are Bob-ombs that are older models built to last and survive their explosions, while Bobby and enemy Bob-ombs are mass produced Bob-ombs that are made to be expendable.

I would prefer to forget Origami Kinga as bad writing and rather divide them into nonsapient purely mechanical (like in Mario RPG factory), nonsapient magical, and sapient magical. Even Mario 64 had them respawn, Suicide bombers do not fit the Tone of Mario series at all, or at least not for the tone of Bowser they go for. Now, Bob-ombs never knowing when they might explode and not come back the next time would be differetn: especially for old age or something.

@@virovac885 Suicide bombing was all they did before Bombette showed up. They may respawn, but they need to DIE first before that can happen. In games where they DON'T respawn, they are quickly replaced with a brand new Bob-omb. You see one explode and that's it for that one guy. The next one you saw was a different person whether you liked it or not.

@@jobobbob5825 I said die OR ARE DEFEATED. You read that part, right? Even then, those enemy Bob-ombs still lose all their hp upon explosion while Bombette and Bobbery do not. You mentioned Glitz Pit and Fahr Outpost but what about the Koopa Bros Fortress and Pirates Groto? Pretty sure those Bob-ombs die.

Average Chapter is about 2 hours. There's 8 chapter. So the game could be, at best, 16 hours long. That's NOTHING for a standard JRPG.

I had to wait a very long time to find a specialist cause my jaw wisdom teeth grew inward. It was quite an experience finally getting them removed. I even came out of my anesthesia for a moment. Good times.

Hot take: People shitting on Funko Pops and everyone who likes them is reaching a point of mindless follow-the-leader matched only by pretending pineapple as a pizza topping is the most disgusting sinful concept ever and Mr. Mime is the scariest thing Nintendo has ever made. Additionally, "slop" has been rapidly losing any meaning ever since people temporarily simping for Palworld before promptly moving on used it ad nauseum to describe all of Gamefreak's work since Pokemon X and Y. And yes, a good portion of Chat is indeed stupid if they genuinely think Vivian has unblinking, unemoting eyes at cheek level.

I was kinda shocked when i finished it and i only had alittle over 30 hours after having done everything except all recipes and troubles, i got stuck on chapter 5 as a kid on the gamecube and i always thought the game was way longer, but man after finishing it i want to run it back again already

1:25:19 - 1:26:58 This is a unironically BASED take from Vinny, it's very understandable why Origami King wouldn't get unanimous praise like TTYD but it truly is a worthwhile experience and is a genuinely heartfelt Paper Mario much like the first three! I always say that if someone couldn't enjoy TOK as a game they could definitely enjoy it as a piece of art!

I only watched vinny play it, but I’m glad I did. My brain is too stinky for that battle system to not be frustrating, but it was fun to watch him play, and the music was good, too. Quality dialogue, regardless of story quality, seems to have been more or less a constant for the series.
