A quick update on a vintage Action Man Atomic Man figure that I restored a few years back. The hands were never correct so it's time to upgrade those to get this figure looking fully original.

I always thought it odd that he only had one replacement leg - was he expected to hop out of danger? I'd be tempted to modify another 'atomic' leg so he had a pair, myself.

I had the Six Million Dollar Man (and Evel Kenieval), but Action Man was always my preferred action figure! Living in UK G.I. Joe wasn't available or on my radar as a kid (but rebranded as Action Man of course)

@@dantooine4279 yes I had Evil Kanevil with his motorcycle too. Had the Space 1999 playset w the big Eagle ship. My mom bought me the Bionic woman Jamie Sommers figure. I had a crush on Lindsay Wagner lol. These videos bring back treasured memories 👍🎶🌞

I never realize how different the Action Man Atomic Man was from the GI Joe one? Looking at him with flocked hair and a long sleeved jumpsuit seems weird. I’m so used to him in his short sleeved camo shirt and cargo shorts with the more classic style head. Also what’s going on in his chest?

That thing in his chest is a push button 'Atomic Heart Pacemaker' on his chest in the 'Pop-o-matic' style game of the same era! It basically would make a clicking noise when depressed.

Go for it. And yes the melting marks are very common on old figures. I see it all the time on Star Wars and Six Million Dollar Man / Bionic Woman toys the most.

While I agree they are definitely better suited than the 'Dynamic Physique' Action Man hands, I have to be honest Dave, and say, having an Atomic Man with near mint original hands, and several pairs of the reproduction mk1 Geyper Man hands, these are actually still quite a bit different from Atomic Man's original hands.

@@toypolloi i think there's always going to be a compromise here, Atomic Man's hands are very unique to the figure, there are even convincing veins sculpted into the back of the hand, I've never come across an exact copy of the hand. Side by side I think the closest sculpt are the Geyper Man muscle body hands, but they're a poor colour match, and I believe you've already tried them so it's trade off whichever you choose to use. 🤔

I want to replace one of Tom Bakers hands from the Denys Fisher range. His thumb is missing. I thought a good swap would be to remove the Denys Fisher Cyberman hand and put Tom Bakers on it, because you can't see that hand anyway as it's covered up by the silver suit (mine is almost bald and not silver lol). Leela also has a broken finger but I don't know how I'd fix that. Any chance of a video showing how the Doctor Who Denys Fisher hands can be replaced?

I think they are the same construction as Mego dolls. So to change the hand just push the wrist pin out and the hand will come off. Cheers

@@toypolloi hey hello. I'm really really worried that if I lever the joint with a screwdriver like you did it may cause the plastic to break because it's so old. When I saw you doing that I actually gasped because I thought oh no it's going to snap off!!!!!

Yeah this fix is not the same as I would do on Mego. Check out my Mego videos. All you need to do is push the wrist pin out. It's very simple.
