HOLY SHIT!! 17:26 THATS MY OLD RD ARTIST!! I LOVED THAT GUITAR BECAUSE OF ALL THE FLAWS IN IT BUT STILL HAVING ALL THE ORIGINAL HARDWARE AND ELECTRONICS IN IT!! I still love the refinished bare walnut look to it, sadly I had to sell it after losing my job but I'm so excited to see it in the hands of one of my favorite guitar RU-vidrs!!! Take good care of her for me
Yooo no way, this was yours?? Lol that is awesome! You gotta give me the history behind all the battle scars. Sorry about the job, hopefully you've landed on your feet!
@@agufish Ahh unfortunately I was not the one who gave her all the battle scars, I was one of the later owner's after she had been through whatever events she'd been through and the shop I bought her from didn't have much information other than just informing me that it wasn't a "mint" example. I'd fallen in love with the shape after seeing Tim Lash of HUM playing an RD Custom and also wanted to try out the MOOG electronics that it originally came with it; it seemed like the perfect player's grade example when I found it. I'm not sure if you bought it as a husk or not but I would not be surprised if the person I sold her too scalped the parts out of her to sell or fix another "cleaner" example. I had plans to rewire it in some fun way after I found that I wasn't a fan of the MOOG electronics and the low output pickups but sadly like I said I lost my job and needed to cover some expenses and so I had to let her go. I'm still madly in love with the shape and the color of that specific guitar, can't wait to see what you do with her.
@@agufish now kiss.... Get the sponsors on it ASAP, mod the living shit out of it. Find the smallest circuit for a drive pedal you can and give it back. If he can prove it was his :P Would be mega cool.
I’ve thought about replacing the circuit board in my RD with a J Rockett klon boost. Should be plenty of room in there for that. The other possibility is to gut a Variax and throw those electronics in that cavity. Amazing possibilities with a helix…do recommend!
I am speaking for the people when I ask this, but WHEN IS YOUR SIG DROPPING!!!!???? We the people need this! Real talk though, I love your videos and content. I am proud of how far this channel has come, and looking forward to where it is headed. Keep it up!
@@Black_Water.inc200 I love the shape of Syns guitar. That and the "tempest" I guess cause the older I get I'm getting away from nu metal and death metal and getting more into doom sub genres 👍
having two sets of notifications about Agufish uploads helps keep me checking in on new gear and stuff I wanna do, thank you so much for 2023 and I can't wait to see your content this year in 2024
Not only Tube amps but I get a better response from my 100 watt solid state amps, Transformer maybe ? IDK. I can get good tones modeling but never as good as my amps,Tube or SS. It is what it is. Great content Hunter ! Looking forward to some of this years mod projects. Thanx for the work and all the info,,
Seems like you got good deals done some of your gear. Reminds me when I bought a 1989 fender hm strat with the original case for $500. I also got a line 6 spider valve hd150 tube amp for only $150 bucks. Plugged it in and it works perfectly.
Fun idea for the The Paul duo: Have one speced like you would, and have the other speced by your wife with no prior instruction. (or a friend or something)
Wendel is really the MVP GOAT that supports this channel. I love watching his exceptional work - and I've missed seeing it, but I do love that he is being recognised and people are beating a path to his door. If I were closer to retirement and on the same continent, I'd apply at Wendel's - I'd love to just work on guitar projects all day. (as I side-eye the 2 unfinished projects sitting in the corner that I haven't managed to get on to finishing) I 100% agree that the channel is more about showing us how a bit of gear can inspire you to write a riff and sharing both the process and outcome with us. Hopefully inspiring us to try something with our gear or helping to decide what to add.
I really appreciate the restomod projects! As great as Wendel's work is , I'd really like to see you take a crack at one of these projects yourself, think it would make for a great video even if its just fret leveling
A very happy new years to you and the fam, Hunter!!! So excited for the content that's coming! Also tell your friends at Valient to make a Mola Jupiter 7 avail, please and ty!
If they brought back the Sonex, or a set-neck lookalike that preserved the forearm and belly carves, I would absolutely buy it. I love the look of the pickguard, similar to how the Batwing version of the SG is my favorite. I've even considered doing the carves and routing to my Les Paul Special Tribute!
Jimmy Bower from Eyehategod and Hank Williams III both are big fans of the Gibson Sonex guitars. And I myself have three 1981 Gibson Sonex 180 Deluxe's and the colors I have are Black , Silverburst, and White.
For the Rd could go crazy with fishmans with all the switching options... from what I remember u can select which Coil is split to, and their is a or is on my 8 string ones a tilt switch... so that plus voice switches... maybe rotary tone knobs too...
No idea what I'd do to mirror/yin-yang the pauls, but I'd definitely vibe with one of them having hum sized p90s, maybe a bit of a Lee Malia vibe to it.
Go for wood inlays? Like the guitars of Jerry Garcia? Or maybe a modern version of leather wrapping? Both styles haven't been 'metalized' but both are very much American heritage.
Racing stripes is a very USA theme that you see often, But it hasn't been combined with cnc and wood inlays. Combined with some japanese images like Picachu? That would be fun.
Instead of restoring husks, you should just buy some DiY guitar kits. I recommend Pango as the best DiY brand. You should also consider just finding a luthier who makes custom guitars and just come up with your own design from scratch. You also should buy some amps that metal guys hate like a Vox or Fender tweeds just to see what kind of metal sound you can get out of them.
I have a stealth 50w 5150 Dual rec and mark5 MB The 5150 sounds the best plug and play Idk why but damn it sounds soooo much better than the boogies They all have el6 so idk…to me the 5150 is super sick sounding right out the gate
16:48 Why don’t you make a „neck pickup only“ and a „bridge pickup only“ guitar? So no pickup switch, fill in the other cavity. Could be kinda Tom delonge inspired and the pair combined making a „whole“ guitar would be a fun, unique project.
Nah man, find one of those bizarre line 6 tuning switch things from the variax or whatever, and toss that in the rd. I’m pretty Steve Vai has one in a Jem, and I think it would be cool tech to see adopted to other guitars!
that voice protection... I am highly interested in learning how yyou transformed your voice over the years. say compared to your ltd bk600 review vid you are a different spiecies.
The broken body Gibson looks like it actually has the best chance. Is the neck straight and solidly set? If so, I'd do that one up. Please no Sperzel tuners. It's hard to invision mod projects without at least an idea of the era your shooting for? That one should probably have a more classically inspired theme to it. Guitars with randomly mismatched parts throughout the build, just look hideous to me. You gotta stick to an era of history when choosing mod parts. Putting modern locking tuners on everything completely ruins any chance of a guitar retaining any oldschool character.
