VERY CLEAR TUTORIAL on Foundation paper piecing using freezer paper. I have never dared to try foundation paper piecing, but now I will. Thank you! Furthermore, the self-binding technique is amazing!

Just saw this and I am really liking your technique for paper piecing. I learned paper piecing back in the early 2000’s. Just yesterday (9/18/20021) I came across some paper piecing patterns I have and threw them aside because I didn’t want to pick all those pieces of paper out from the finished blocks. Not sewing on the paper AND using freezer paper is a game changer! Thank you and I thank God for leading me to your channel!

I have to thank you for this video. I have been struggling over a year with a well known designer’s pattern using freezer paper, even took her workshop when she was here . I even tried doing it the regular PP method but that was more frustrating. Watching this video made me realize I can do it this way in sections and I might actually finish it. Thanks

I like that you stitch next to the printed line instead of on it so the paper is NOT stitched to the fabric. Nice way to do paper piecing. Cute project.

Yup, I'm a slow learner, so I took my computer to the sewing room with me, and thanked the Lord for rewind and pause. I did mine a little differently, mainly because I didn't look close enough at yours in the beginning. But it came out really pretty anyway! Thanks so much for this tutorial; this has helped me keep busy during the ice and snow the last couple of days.

I decided to design and quilt a pillow (both sides) so I sewed while I binged watched your videos.This quilted pillow will be attached to fabric to make a Quillow for my granddaughter who is away from home at college. She'll be in the northwest so it will be cold in the winter. I really like watching and listening to you.

there is nothing that will compare to snuggling in a handmade quilt! Your granddaughter will just LOVE it! Hahaha....that sounds so funny to me that you binge watched the videos hehehe......thank you so much for thinking I am "binge watch" worthy hehee....it blows my mind how many people are watching along...technology is wonderful! Who would have ever thought.......thanks for watching!!

I finished the quilt for my granddaughter and now I'm going to make some mug rugs I bought your pattern from Etsy! My sister loves the I Love Lucy TV show and I have some I Love Lucy fabric and your mug rug pattern is perfect for that fabric! The reason I like watching your videos besides the fact that I have learned a lot is that I like your voice and your face. Your voice is very soothing and you look very friendly. I am shy so I really don't like it when some people make videos that are too hyper or loud.

I enjoyed the tutorial and learned a few things. Elmers Glue and Glue Stick are on the top of my shopping list now. Dyeing your fabric with coffee was a great tip ... that's what allot of the army service men use as their uniforms fade to keep from having to buy new ones so quickly. (Oops, dated myself on that comment.) I really like that the backing/front trim was a little darker. Made it show up better on the front. The front binding/trim is harder to do in the smaller width, but looks better, in my opinion. Got this project on my "must do next" list. Thanks, for sharing your time and talent.
@gypsyrose813
@gypsyrose813 5 лет назад
I agree with all of these comments! I think the smaller trim might look better. I will have to give that a try. I LOVE mug rugs! That and baby quilts!

Thanks Linda, that was very educational... and a bit different to sewing through the paper. I really appreciated the binding system too, I am going to try that one! I know this is over three years since you made this video but it is great value, thanks.

so, when you sew through paper, do you just pull the paper from the stiching? doesn't this loosen the stitches? would love some explanation here .... thanks ...

Love this project. In 2022 waxed freezer paper seems impossible to find. Butcher paper is now coated with plastic. I had to improvise, just pinning my paper and fabric pieces or in some cases using a glue stick. It will take me a couple of tries to fine tune a new technique but well worth it. Love your videos and patterns!

This is a cool method. It looks fun. I get the basic concept because I have done something similar on my embroidery machine. The stitching lines are digitized, so you lay the fabric, the machine stitches a line, and then you flip it over. But this looks like a fun method and I would imagine that after you get the basic instructions down, it goes pretty fast. Thank you for sharing this. I like the self binding method, and using the glue to hold things down. How easy! I have also tea dyed fabric and it makes it look vintage. Unfortunately, I went too far, and splattered it with some brown ink, too. Now it just looks like spots of mold; lol! Oh well, live and learn.

we sound like we have a lot in common!! I've seen many "in the hoop" embroidery projects I'd like to try :) tea dying fabric is so much fun.....I get way carried away sometimes too....hahaha....it's all fun!!

Hey I really enjoyed your Mug Rug. I started making these too. They are so fun ! I love to piece. It really relaxes me. I feel your cold feet ! LOL Your 8 inches of snow you can keep. I live in Texas and our high bone chilling winds are deadly. So I don't mind the heater noise at all. Keep warm . I just subscribed to you. Thank you.

Thank You! You have saved my project. The binding hack is ingenious. I had literally sewed myself into a corner. I really enjoyed this video and can't really pick one favorite, so I pick them all. Great job. Subscribe, subscribe, subscribe!

Just watched this video I was not interested in paper piecing since I done it once years ago and sis NOT like it sewing through the paper and then trying to tear it away. I loved this tutorial and the heart I have it in my Etsy cart and thank you for making the patterns affordable for us retired on fixed income people. No the heater did not distract me at all but back ground music does so much I have to stop watching a video with it. I had much rather have silence then back ground music in a tutorial. Loved you coffee dyed the fabric will have to try that too. I think I am a fan of ALL your videos will definitely be watching them all, thanks for doing them.

Evelyn H I love that you have joined along with me! I agree with the music....sometimes I like adding it to break up long periods that would be silent, but can understand how it might be annoying hahaaa. The paper piecing this way makes so much sense to me! No tearing away paper possibly ripping your stitches PLUS you can reuse the pattern over and over :) I do keep pricing in mind when designing, the lower the price to more chance you can afford different patterns and don't have to choose ♡ thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely comment!

Hi Lisa, I just love the way you teach on your tutorial really so nice and slow and clearly to the point. you teach with such calmness and patient , love the way your Vintage Heart mug rug came out I made one with the scraps I had laying around I think it came out pretty good for the first time followed according to everything you have done now I am where the part w decorate stitch the top quit . can I use any kind of color thread or do I match closes to my quilt top I I wish I can show you my vintage heart quilt top is there some how I show you a picture of my finished project Happy Sewing

Hi Ada!!! Thanks so much :) I think it depends on the look you are going for....sometimes I don't want my stitches to show, so I try to blend the thread color in. Other times I really love the look of the stitch as a design element and then I get creative and use different colors based on the project :)
